What game are you wasting time on?

Continuing with my Shadow Warrior 2013 playthrough. It's complete shit methinks now.
Boring as fuck and what seemed to be a more close quarters combat game turned into Serious Sam with shitty fucking katana. No weapon I have deals any damage, the powers are fucking garbage and take too long to activate - it always feels like I'm wasting time instead of killing something.
The graphics are OK. The waves and waves of shitty copy-pasted enemies and endless running around and flicking switches is fucking horrible.
I'm 7 hours into it, I don't think I can take anymore. That's the so called old school FPS revival? Fuck my dick. The new wolf looks just as bad from the videos I watched. Doom 4 had a better damage feedback on its enemies at least, the guns there were more fun to use. Here everything is limp dick shit.

Until Dawn
-walking sim with QTEs and cheap jump scares
-mostly insufferable cast of teenagers, particularly the asian
-facial animation reminded me of LA Noire but at least that game had fucking character and proper character development
-the viallains are chupacabras....yeah, fuck this
:2/5:
(there are some laughs to be had)

Tried Sin Gold. The main menu is obscenely annoying with the bleeping sound effects and the ultra slow text.
Was very unimpressed with the gunplay; both player character and enemies are giant damage sponges. Lots of enemies who do minimal damage and take a long time to kill is the very opposite of what I like in a FPS.
Of all the new (to me) shooters I've tried over the past few years Sin has been the biggest disappointment. Outlaws has been the most positive experience.

Finished Life is Strange it's basically a better version of the Telltale games, not a real adventure but has more gameplay more c&c and a story with some good moments(ending of episode 3 was the best part of the game for me,c&c bitch),the time manipulation/rewind mechanic was good too.The ending on the other hand sucked and the dialogs some time were bad,I am not a millenial teenager but I don't think they use so many bad puns or say hella every 20 seconds or so,oh and you play as an 18 year old girl who looks like a 12 year old boy.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Bubbles In Memoria
Pike & Shot: Campaigns
2nd Battle of Newbury was heavily scripted bullshit scenario.
0A78D1842ACA9A95E440B2D65F5AA8C83A66F5BD

Though in this case stupid AI needs all help that it can get. It practically froze into place after I managed to block westernmost bridge and rearguard didn't do anything to small unit of musketeers that was taking pot shots at it 20+ turns or my last minute cavalry flanking force.

One scenario to go and I have played them all.

Also played Caves of Qud.
Water ritual and trainings that you can gain through it seems make things lot easier.

Currently playing Tides of Numenera and enjoying myself (more than I did with Tyranny or even Pillars of Eternity).

I'm being Blue as fuck because I'm trying to learn as much as possible about everything. The setting is enjoyable, it really strikes the imagination.

Once I'm done, I'll probably replay it at least once (being Red sounds entertaining), then I'll try learning more about the PnP RPG.

(I should note that I haven't read the thread about the game yet, because I didn't want to get spoiled. I'm however under the impression that most of the 'dex didn't like the game much.)

Recently finished Jeanne d'Arc for PSP

Good:
- Classic japtactical formula (Tactics Ogre, FFT, etc.).
- Devs at least tried to balance shit out this time: no totally OP units, clear and simple rules, no sperg-bullshit (Disgaea). Units have set jobs and THAT'S IT, transformations have limited time and use, etc.
- Clever use of gameplay quirks (using burning areas can lead to epic damage combos).
- Varied winning conditions. Most of the time killing all enemies is easy, but you need to do sth else to complete mission. An underused feature in such games for sure, though you can still fuck this up AFAIK (Square in FFT Advance).
- Quite often you have ~12 turns to complete a mission, so you gotta go fast.
- Very good and creative level design. Some maps are simply beautiful, some are very clever-made (obstacles you need to move around).
- Units are quite fragile through the entire game. Everyone can die from 2-3 hits. Good, since in some such games HP to damage ratio is borked (killing takes too much time).

Ugly:
- A little-bit bare boned when compared to other games from the genre. Think rather Vandal Hearts 1 than FFT.
- Damage is too level-dependant (except magic). So, if unit A is ~5 levels below unit B, it will be able to hit unit B for ~2 HP, with ~5% accuracy. Not as bad as in Tactics Ogre, but still meh.
- Game is too easy, mostly due to no level scaling for both story and optional battles. A controversial choice, since it makes playing optional battles boring / unnecessary (no point of fighting under-leveled enemies). You can also out-level enemies at some point, making story battles trivial.
- Art and FMVs are too wapanese for my taste, not so great art-wise too.
- Element magic work in rock-paper-scissors way, which makes specializing useless (the stronger your fag is when using fire, the weaker to ice he becomes). You can just crank magical attack instead.
- Some enemies' AI is triggered by range. You can pound them with magic from afar, and they don't even budge.
- Skill crafting is too much hassle, with billions combinations leading to shitty skills you can as well buy in shops.

Bad:
- Shitty, pseudo-literary descriptions of skills. Most of the time you have to try a skill to learn what it actually does. The fuck? Esp. shitty with special skills, which lack info if they're of physical type (level-dependant) or magical type (not affected by levels, at least that much).
- One of the most aggravating uses of "Le Olde English / French" ever. Drop this shit, people.
- VOs in FMVs are horrible.

Verdict: decent, but could've been much better with higher difficulty / tweaked gameplay (level scaling / gear scaling / more aggresive AI). Let's hope modders will fix it.

:3/5:

BTW, I've recently started playing my first ever Fire Emblem game (not counting Advance Wars series, which uses similar concept), that is FE3 for Snes, and I'm loving it. Old but gold.

Found my old Half-Life CDs and successfully installed the game.

Are there any essential mods or patches I should use? Something that does not involve Steam, but works with the CD versions, like a patch for higher resolutions, for example.

I am trying to play ME1 again, and gosh is it awful! I just did a combat, and the fucking game makes you stop shooting when you get too close to a wall or an enemy. Are all the games like this?

Really enjoying my replay of Half-Life. Must have played it two or three times back in the days, but I'm pleasantly surprised at how much I've forgotten about it, so it still manages to surprise me. Gotto love those headcrabs!
Compared to Unreal which I replayed quite recently I'd say Unreal has somewhat smoother controls and has overall better graphics, but Half-Life has better character models and unlike Unreal has humour.

I'm playing Street FIghter 5. It's a fun game but I also hate it and want to stop playing it. It's close to being good but there are many flaws and the characters I like to play are bottom tier at the moment and it's very frustrating to play as them.
I cant wait for Tekken 7 to come out so i can play that instead.

I notice that Half-Life is still buggy after using the 1.1.1.0 patch and the Resolution patch. Poor Gordon still gets stuck when going up and down certain elevators.

Also, those marines kind of annoy me. Their radio messages are unrealistic; you don't go "Sir" on the radio, you use code names or numbers. Also fighting with a bloody gas mask on? Your sight will be limited and your oxygen uptake will be limited. Just try and run hunded yards with full gear and a gas mask.

Playing Morrowind now. These escort quests are the fucking worst. The AI is so dumb in this game. I ended up just murdering one guy who wanted me to take him to Koal Mine but ran negative 100 mph.

Buck Rogers: Countdown to Doomsday, of the few Gold Box games I didn't play back in the day even it was recommended.

Just started with PC version using DosBox. I still recall things like how character creation and stuff works, but skills here are quite different from what they are in other games. I'm pretty early in game, got my ass kicked because I didn't invest enough in Zero G skill and couple of other mistakes, but actually this has been... so far so good.

I think I will still try to push on with my current party and see where this goes.
