What game are you wasting time on?

I think the 'in every possible way' is hyperbole.

Well the gunplay is still enjoyable. But it's still dumbed down in every other possible way. AI, level design, environmental destructiveness, atmosphere, visuals. Also worse weapons IIRC.

From the top of my head:

Well, guess I remembered right

Darth Roxor in 2013 said:
The latest news on Betrayer finally made me do something I've had in mind for a while now, that is, check FEAR2 again. I only played the demo back when it was released, and I absolutely hated it, but I figured that maybe the game is gonna develop nicely like Wolfenstein did. And I didn't quite remember why I hated it so much, too, so might as well.

AND OH BOY DO I NOW REMEMBER WHY I HATED IT

Everything about this game is a total :decline: from FEAR 1. Character speed got cut by like 75%, what the fuck, even "sprinting" is slower than normal movement from FEAR. Leaning removed. UI is terrible. Guns have no oomph whatsoever (especially the horribly butchered shotty). Generic goons you keep shooting are shit, nowhere near as cool as the previous generic goons who had funky uniforms and cool radio banter. THE AI IS COMPLETELY NON-EXISTENT, WHICH IS PARTICULARLY OFFENSIVE. The "omg zombie womyn!" cheap scares are abused to the point of stupidity, and considering that they are just about the same as the ones in FEAR 1, you are already used to the fact that this shit can't even harm you, so each and every one just produces a 'meh' reaction.

FEAR 2 had also more varied encounters, but not in a good way because of how overly scripted they were. Like it gives you a sniper and tells you to shoot the guys in the οpposite building, or it gives you a giant robot for a short period of time etc.

Currently playing Bloodborne and Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup.

Killed my third boss in Bloodborne (blood starved beast) and am now exploring the chalice dungeon. Having a way harder time in this game than in Dark Souls or Demon's Souls. Bosses seem a bit harder to solo in this game. Especially Vicar Amelia took many tries. But the exploration, atmosphere and glimpses of the story are fantastic. Great game so far.

In DCSS I got my first rune. (MiBe) Got the swamp rune. Last time I got killed by Lernean Hydra, was a bit more careful this time and got out safely. Going for Snake Pits next. Still waiting on Trog to gift me a real end-game weapon.

EDIT: Escaped with the orb! Made my first rune run also my first win. Here's my file for those interested in DCSS:

I was gonna play Torment but then I was watching a wuxia movie and remembered that I had never finished Prince of Qin, so I re-installed it.

As you can see the desire to play Torment is very strong.

How is Prince of Qin? I've never heard too much talk about it, so always assumed it was just a Diablo II clone with an eastern setting.

Prince of Qin is a diablo1-clone with a heavy emphasis on item creation and main quest's endings.
1. Its system of item creation is about the best of all games.
2. 7 endings based on what you did and didnt do, what NPC you have and didnt have~
3. Its rpg elements are, overall, quite strong.
Very good game, and you can easily replay it.

Normal difficulty. On first playthrough, 81% complete. Apparently there's a new game plus feature so I'll be checking out the higher difficulty gameplay soon.

I just played the original campaign on hard, and it pretty much sucked. Playing through the expansion on normal now and it's way more fun.

Dying Light is not the kind of game that shines when it's challenging. On the contrary, difficulty just servers to highlight its many flaws. On normal it's at least a fun mindless romp.

It feels like a mixture between diablo Divine Divinity and Baldur's gate, since you can have party members and you can pause the game to give commands. Even of it has some diablo likeness, this game is definitely a crpg. It takes place in an interesting Chinese historical-fantasy setting. If you can look past the dodgy translation and some hilarious voice acting, you'll find a pretty good game that has been criminally overlooked.

Meh. I only have a couple minor complaints:
Firstly, the player loses control over the camera when doing certain parkour maneuvers, like the vault and the tictac wall jump. Secondly, and most annoying, those exploding zombies can be cheap. If you come running around a corner and one of those guys is standing right there blocking your path, you're fucked. Died a few times to that shit. Weapons degrade too quickly in the early game but later on you'll find better ones at a fast enough rate that the current ones rarely get a chance to completely break, so it's not too annoying. Any other issues fall under the git gud category.

Started Baldurs Gate EE. The EE alone is worth it for the ability to zoom and to scroll with the middle mouse button. What level should I be before clearing the mines?

For all good (bow usage, fast loading times) and bad (GUI, NPC's, burryness) changes you choose one totally insignificant - zooming in and out. Whu uses that anyway?

Kobolds may be pain in the ass - IIRC with bows they have 2 attacks per round so even heavy armoured tank can get some critical hits (even with helmet some damage is guaranted) and with lvl1 you don't have enough HP's. Still doable (get some healing potions) but 2nd level is much more easier and less tedious.

Ok I finished Morrowind - well, kind of, I finished main quest, all guilds, 1 House, 2 temples, assasins guild and few small quests.

I didn't finish Tribunal nor Bloodmoon because I got bored, but let's start from the begining.

I never finished any of TES games even if I played almost all of those - open world gets boring after 20-100 hours to me. This time I was amused for about 80 hours (well, first 2-3 hours were bad, because after Skyrim and other popamole I got a bit lazy and refused to read dialogues, so fiding Caius Cosades was... eh, honestly I knew already where he is, I've spent like 30-40 hours in Morrowind before ;) ) but after that I started to feel tired. Enough say I skipped 4th and 5th trial and getting some artefacts "needed to kill Dagoth" (I just went for Hammer and Knife). Few things in this game are awesome, some are just bad...

Pros
+ lore is great, every book is fun to read and there are plenty of those
+ story is not that bad, quite good even, all that "two different stories" of Nerevar and Red Mountain Battle, Dagoth Ur trying to convince us he is not a mad god etc - it's not a bad story. Well, much better than "I saw you in my dreams, grab this amulet and find my bastard, because I usually trust prisoners from my dreams" and "Empreor gave you this before he died? So, even if you are bloody thief you did not stolen it when I was fighting those cultists? Ok, you can get it and go, you will be better in delivering amulet than FUCKING MASTER BLADE!"
+ dialogues are great - I know that most people cries that Morriwind's Dialogues are like wikipedia, but they leave something for imagination - you feel your character is sarcastic? Press "Balmora" and imagine he asks "What is that shithole?" Details, descriptions how to get somewhere, all is good IMO
+ merchants without a lot of gold - imagine if they have infinite gold - go to Deran Plantation, sell Daikatana, be rich
+ best armour in the game (well, not enchanted one) - Daedric - is scattered around the world in one (well, that Tyr guy have another one but you can't kill him if you want to finish main quest) specie , in Skyrim you can forge yourself tousands of Dragoun Armours
+ every skill can be useful
+ you can breake your character (well, you can be overpowered on lvl 10 or you can be totall pussy)
+ most quests have few ways to be solved (well, quite cheesy ways, like "pay me and I will like you enough so I can give you what you need and you don't have to kill me" but still...)
+ graphic direction is fine
+ system is not balanced and that's why it's fun (you can spend hours just trying to create mega-spell or abusing alchemy just for lulz. Want to kill Vivec with enchanted fork? Why not?)

Cons:
- Filler dungeons - not as filler as in TES4 and 5, but still there are plenty of places with just scalable loot
- oh - level scalling - just like above, much better than in Oblivion (I've read a guide how to finnish Oblivion with lvl1 character and why it's much better idea than to level up :D ) but sometimes annoying
- worst thing - gold is everything. Want some enchanting - gold. Want some level ups? Gold. You just don't need to do all those little quests, it's better to hunt for good stuff to sell
- and related to above - Creeper and Mudcrab. After doing 3 (three!) quests for mages guild, killing night assasins 1-2 times and getting some semi-decent loot (like that sword from guard tower in Balmora) you can abuse resting next to creeper and be filthy rich after 20-30 minutes of game. I am not saying it's proper way to play, but Creeper should be removed completly from this game... (mudcrab may stay as it is hidden and hard to get in normal way, I mean not 2 meters from magic teleport)
- open world gets boring - only 5 types of dungeons (crypts, dwemer, dunmer, daedric and caves)
- me being master of fighters guild: I need soliders to defend my stronghold. Some guy from my guild: Ok, but you need to do me a favor. Me: I fuckin' did 10 favors to you. I am your fuckin' boss. Get me those men and shut your ass! Same guy: Sorry, no favor no blades.
- game is too easy, even of highgest difficulty I had no problems. You can abuse enchanting, alchemy or spell making but there is no reason to.
- from the other hand - Tribunal (I spent there 2 hours maybe) is so much harder - it's not bad thing, but number of fights there is just annoying.
- oh, cliff racers, mosquitos of cRPGs.

So, game is good anyway, it gets bland and boring after very long time, comparing it to Oblivion is just unfair (it's bland and boring from inserting cd to your computer). I know there are numbers of cons from my side, but I just overdosed this game and I may be a bit bitter.

My plan is to try Oblivion now... For real. Without mods (except a few minors like better UI but no level scaling removing, I want to experience it as intended). Wish me luck.

Abandoned killer is dead, game feels tailor made for aesthetic fans.
As a action game it is a complete failure:
-No variety of moves whatsoever. This the typical combat encounter in killer is dead:You mash square, and then you dodge and that is it.If you dodge at the last moment you get to do a super attack by you guessed it mashing square.
There is no fluidity like dmc or bayoneta or any other action game. And movement and attacks feels sluggish compared to any action games released in the last 10 years.
You also get a shooter weapon which feels unsatisfying to use.(enemies reaction to damage is boring and the upgrades just make the thing more easy to use which was never a problem).
You can upgrade your attack speed but it barely makes a difference.
Dodging feels always off somehow, like there is some form of input delay or something.
-No lock on and the camera is atrocious.Camera can't keep up with your dodging and it always is somewhere off of your character.(just try going into a corner and you will laugh).A lock on would have fixed this but i guess suda is too cool for that.
-Upgrade system sucks.None of the new moves are interesting or needed(like the marginal attack speed upgrade or two forms of health recovery).
And there are multiple levels of the same thing with more passive differences.
And also the enemies are not tough enough for you to utilize the upgrades properly(what is the point of super guard break, when enemies guard so little)
-Level design is just horrible.I hope you like small room arenas and even smaller "exploration" areas cause that is what you are getting.(oh and there is a maze to piss you off even more)
-Gigolo missions are just shit.I am no sjw so i don't care about the misogyny bullshit. But they are horrible game play wise.
All you do is just stare at a woman and when she looks away you activate x ray vision and stare at her some more, which is just stupid and creepy.
When you have filled up your creep o meter you give her a gift and after a couple of gifts she gives you a present.
It doesn't help that the only way to get new weapon is by doing this.

The story is typical suda. You get random bullshit without any explanation, but unlike his previous works in here it feels disjointed and it feels like is checking off a list of tropes.
Your first mission is an alice in wonderland theme for no apparent reason except to fill the trope quota, and this pattern happens in the rest of the missions as well.
I guess the only good thing is the aesthetics, characters are fairly unique.

Oh and the pc port is garbage.Micro stutters on every loading because when it loads the cpu usage skyrockets and if you have a dual core you are gonna get a game breaking bug(fans have fixed it) .
No graphic options, and you control the menus in some weird mouse/keyboard combination.(you can't move the menus with mouse but also can't confirm with the keyboard)

Trust me, zoom is king. Vanilla BG is too zoomed in for my tastes, and edge scrolling is a pain in the ass. Sur eother changes are good (instrant loading), but zoom and scroll are what kept me playing.

It had been over 20 years since I beat Clouds of Xeen. What a fantastic game, went from memory and had a blast. I only wish there was a way to store your items... I had so much gear that I didn't know what to do with it in the end, and inventory space is reasonably limited. I'd like to keep specific elemental-resistance gear, but it's impossible without a way to store extra stuff.

Onto Darkside now, I remember it way less than Clouds.

Fun game, but one of the most pathetic end bosses ever.

I hope you're playing the World of Xeen version of the two games, to get the extra content at the end?

Yeah, this is a problem with all the M&M games though, you're just an unstoppable juggernaut by the end, and especially if you Lloyd's Beacon to the best fountains and wells and cast day of protection & wizardry. The optional sword to kill Xeen was just completely unnecessary.

And yeah, I'm playing World of Xeen, although I pretty much completed Clouds without going to the other side, as that's the game I remember the most fondly. Still have some stuff left to do like the dragons.
