I just reinstalled the original Day of Defeat on Steam. So far it seems so much better than the Source game. It feels grittier, dirtier. I like the sounds and textures much more, too. More maps, more weapons and classes. It seems deadlier and the weapons are more accurate. I wasn't able to find a full server though :(( I used to play this game a lot and a few weeks ago I remembered it actually existed in the non-Source version. I totally recommend it if you can find an active server. The atmosphere seems better overall unless you're a pro-fag and don't care about nuthin but gettin l33t kilz.

Been playing Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir, since the review codes came in for that one. Can't really say any more than that because of NDA.

I've also been playing a lot of Taiko no Tatsujin between the Vita and 3DS versions. I'm really freaking tempted to buy myself a second Vita so I can get the Vita game's DLC without constantly resetting my Vita. It would be nice to have easy access to Japanese demos too, I guess.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2

Not bad, pretty damn solid actually. Leaps and bounds above Rev 1 which I thought ended up being an underwhelming experience. Claire and Moira's campaign were definitely my favorite parts of the game, even though Barry had the more variety of enemies. One of the few things I worried about at first was Moira and Natalia being a hindrance, and I'm glad that wasn't the case, at least after I got used to the game. Glasps I ended up liking more than I thought I would given that they are invisible.

But I can't help but notice similarities with The Evil Within in Claire's campaign, mostly how the Afflicted AI behaves similar to the Haunted, lower amount of ammo (compared to Barry's) and this is probably stretch but the Ironheads are probably scaled down versions of the Trauma from TEW. I haven't played the Last of Us, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Barry's campaign takes from that. Maybe it's just me, it has been a while since I played TEW.

Raid mode is kind of eeeh for me, I like it well enough, but I completely detest the progression system compared to Rev 1's. And tying down levels to the characters?? Fuuuucking hell.

:deadtroll:

And so ended the story of Captain Infinitron and his not-so-jolly crew of meat shields and plasma fodder: gutted by some god damn aliens on the casino planet! Didn't expect to be ambushed there of all places, was just looking to buy some noble titles for that hard earned yehzah to prepare for the grand retirement. Could be the same ships the crew messed with earlier, thought they were wide open to be looted like all the other abandoned ships before them, but somehow these had crews, alarms got activated and the fuckers started shooting.

Ah well, still a good run for ironman, never lasted this long before. Just goes to show you can never relax, just because you're floating around on hover platforms with disintegrator guns and energy shields on a "safe" planet it doesn't mean shit when alien ITZ comes a'knocking. Oh yeah, the pilot Crooked Bee and the gunner Fedora survived because they were still aboard the ship. Bee had a loyalty ship installed to prevent her from retiring with her earnings, Fedora still had 0 XP up to the very end because he didn't fire those lazors even a single time.

I bought the new Shadow of the Beast remake (more of a reimagining, really) for the PS4, fully expecting some kind of semi-lame budget game. To my surprise it's good. I'm having tons of fun playing around with the combat system and honing my skills to perfection. Currently I have Global rank 51 on the first level, as the game has leader boards for those of us who like to autistically get the best score and show everyone else online that we did.

I'm actually kind of interested in the game because nobody, NOBODY in the current year is going to remake an Amiga game except for diehard fans. Considering how the original Shadow of the Beast played just like your standard Amiga platformer, I was stoked to see the developers trying to take the game into something special. Don't know how much they've succeeded at it, but I'd definitely check it out if I ever get a PS4. Although the cinematic God of War stuff is kind of a turn-off.

I like the gameplay a lot in this iteration. It is very cinematic, but not in a way that it feels like it detracts from the game. It's kinda hard to explain, but it's sort of like a Japanese action game on a 2D plane, except with more simplified combat, of course. The emphasis of the games combat is on killing your enemies and doing it with style and without getting hit or you will lose your combo streak and get less points per kill. There are special moves that you can do that will prompt a small QTE (mash a button); one is for ripping enemies apart even more so than normally to get a huge wollop of points, but it's quite easy to get hit if you try this, so you have to time it well or make sure that that the enemy is stunned.. It's very risk / rewardy. And when you get good at the game the combat looks very cool and the cinematic stuff actually becomes fun, which is again a lot like Japanese action games where good play rewards you with cool visuals. The levels have waves of monsters where you get graded for how many points you accure, your style (mixing up moves) and how many times you get hit. Once you finish the stage you are graded for all the big fights + how fast you beat the level. Again, this is taken from Japanese action games.

Edit: forgot to mention an important thing, which is that when you are killing enemies with your normal attacks, even though it's very cinematic, you don't have i-frames, so you can still get hit. When you perform a special attack with a button mashing prompt, you are invincible for the time being, but enemies will still walk to you so you could find yourself in a situation where you will get swarmed after, which isn't ideal.

Other than combat there's the usual platforming with looking for secrets (which unlocks new lore) and collecting items. At the end of a level you get Mana which you can use to upgrade Aarbron's stats and abilities or unlock some fun features, like the original Amiga SotB in all its glory, or an alternative option to play the new SotB with the old soundtrack.

My only complaint is that the game world doesn't look quite as dreamlike as the originals, at least so far, but it still has a neat science-fantasy vibe to it. The story is very faithful to the originals, although it combines the stories of SotB 1 & 2.

When I have some time to spend I play my ongoing Wasteland 2 playthrough and surprisingly Mad Max with a cheap steering wheel. Driving and smashing into other cars and wreck them up is a lot of fun. I just wish there would be way to mod the difficulty. It's way too easy. Especially if you enhance the fortresses and ammunition and health isn't important anymore, fuel wasn't an issue anyway. Just being able to change some numbers could do wonders to the game.

After having played it on the Amstrad CPC back in November, and then watching a "Let's Play"-video of the Amiga version shortly thereafter, I can safely say that "Nothing Of Value Was Lost", as this was a very bog-standard platformer with purposefully obfuscated sections to try to 'prolong' the experience of playing a mediocre platformer.

I haven't taken a second's look at the 'remake' (oh god) yet, but I don't expect anything of value...in fact, I was quite surprised to hear that there WAS a remake/re-imagining of the game in progress.

Someone is desperate.

Stellaris - Played it for a few days before dropping it. Early game is somewhat fun I guess but the game is nearly devoid of content, even by Paradox standards.
Dark Souls 3 - a bastardized mix of BB, DS2, and some elements of Dark Souls. Bonefire warping breaks the entire level design and sense of pacing and adventure, but overall it's a solid iteration and feels like more of a proper sequel to DS1 than DS2 ever did. Have no real desire to play NG+ and from what I hear it isn't really worth it. Really feels like From is just phoning it in at this point, although the game remains fun.

I dropped Iron Storm game years back due terrible saving point (two steps later bunch of dogs packed with dynamite rush at me, couldn't beat that one), then recently found that there is enhanced edition of the game, called World War Zero.
Thing is - remake was made by Rebellion and every kwan here looks like fukin Judge Dredd with head replaced to WW2 black soldier.
Control is fucked up, you can't use 1-9 (or 1-3) keys for different guns (yes, I still refuse to this day use mouse scroll to switch guns), you need to use mouse scroll and then click LMB. Never liked it.
There is Q key to switch weapons but it does not switch back to recently used weapon. Q key switch between two (not visible) slots, just scroll-> click-> scroll to another-> click and you're done. Helluva confusing.
There is Auto Aim but can't be enabled. Then why put it here in the first place?
On the good side there are secrets to be found and this way you can improve your character way faster.
Bodies fly around the map (when you're in the trenches and they're above) even though there is not ragdoll physic at all. I though it was issue with ragdoll only but seems like not.
Btw. there are save points and character can survive more shots. There is no gamma or brightness bar in the menu.:decline:

Recently the press is filled with news about different big first person shooters like DOOM and Overwatch so I got and itch to play a good FPS.

So I replayed and finished Shadow Warrior and now im replaying Blood.

I dont know why but I have always really loved the look of the sky in build engine.

The first Beast game was certainly nothing to write home about when it came down to the gameplay, but the music, art and atmosphere is something that stuck with people. Beast 2 & 3 were far better games, though. As for this reimagining, it seems to be quite a hit with the handful of us fans who have played Beast and got the chance to play this adaptation. Pretty much everyone is praising it for being faithful in all the ways that matter and improving that which needed improvement. Honestly, there was no way to make the gameplay worse, but they did manage to make the gameplay incredibly good, so that's nice. To say that someone is desperate seems foolish to me. It is as Durandal says, no one but a true fan is going to bother digging up this IP to revive it given its obscurity and age. It doesn't feel like a cynical cash grab because there's a million other Sony owned IPs that they could revive that are far more mainstream. Instead it's a neat little game and the effort feels sincere, and it shows.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 A Beautifully Desolate Campaign
Men, I have now completed Wizardry III as well:

I got myself a star motherfuckers! :kwafuckyeah:
Wizardry III is an entirely different beast compared to the second installment in the series. The game is very difficult and unforgiving at the start, and you will encounter level draining monsters as early as floor 2.
The game is focused around the balance of good and evil, with floors being available only for specific alignments. There are a total of 6 floors. Floor 1 and 6 are available to both evil and good parties, but floor 2 and 4 are only available for good and floor 3 and 5 are only available for evil parties.

My party, consisting of a fighter, samurai, lord, thief, mage and bishop, could only venture to floor 2 and 4. This gap was a major obstacle, the lack of a priest proved itself quite the headache as I found myself constantly poisoned and/or paralyzed. It is possible to change your alignment from good to evil by fighting friendly monster groups, but it is tedious, random, and a pain in the ass. Finally having found the Crystal of Evil on floor 4 I turned my party evil and began investigating floor 3. I hated floor 3, that fucking monk who wants you to trade your soul broadsword for his chest, how the hell are you supposed to figure that out beside dumb luck?
On floor 5, besides finding the Crystal of Good, I spent my time eradicating the followers of Fung. The Temple of Fung, besides getting my party killed on numerous occasions (FUCKING BADI :x), housed an arab wanting to sell me "a gem containing the fire of the gods!". Turns out it was a Rod of Fire....... never trust a sandnigger. There are a good number of middle-eastern npcs in this game, particularly you are constantly haunted by a guy named Abdul on the higher floors.

Wielding both the Crystal of Good and Evil, you can merge them to a Crystal of Neutrality (this is recommended, or else you'll face a God-dragon on floor 6. I speak from experience). The layout of floor 6 resembles a standard maze, with twisting branches and dead ends. In a secret room I found a statue, allowing me to trade my Crystal of Neutrality for an orb. Believing I had the item I was required to obtain, I started running around blindly to find a way out. Coming across another secret room, this time with a teleporter which sent me back to floor 1. Imagine my excitement, heading my way back to town to win the game, only to have my hopes crushed: it was the wrong god damned orb.... Turns out you can trade the crystal for one of two different orbs; the one you were sent to retrieve and another which is very bad for you. Back to floor 4 and 5 to assemble to Crystal of Neutrality and try again. Thankfully I ended up getting the right orb.

With the completion of Wiz I-III, it is now time for a game I have been looking forward to try for a good while: Wizardry IV: The Return of Werdna. I've been wanting to read Crooked Bee's LP as it is generally hailed as one of the best LPs ever done, but it would spoil the experience for me so it will have to wait. So, DwarvenFood, will you join me?

I used Priests of different alignments myself.

Priests of :rage:NG!!! They are definitely on my Top Ten Most Annoying Enemies list.
