Nephew spent half an hour getting his face scanned JUST RIGHT for PES 2013's career mode. Eventually gave up because the rest of the character model is too, er, fair-skinned and he ended up looking like Rorschach.

I put the stupid boring ass Baldur's Gate 1 on hold and now I'm replaying both Mafia and Hidden and Dangerous 2 as I have decided to try something else than some super-duper RPG. Guys if you haven't, you should friggin check them out, at least HD2. This game is such a detailed military porn and the game engine they use for both the games is absolutely amazing. I don't recall any recent game that lets you do what HD2 does.

Mafia is great too but I get a little bit bored of the constant driving because this time I'm playing it strictly for the story. It even made me re-watch The Godfather. I remember it was the first game when it came out that I wanted to play so bad that I had to learn how to shoot with a mouse instead of the keyboard like I used to in Doom and Quake. Hihi I was still playing Quake 3 on keyboard only, used page up and down to aim vertically.

H&D2 is such a wonderful game, crafted with love and it shows. Must replay it in the near future.

Gunpoint is indeed pretty cool.

On topic, I am playing (though mostly not playing) Blood Knights, which is classified as an Action RPG on Steam, but the RPG elements are... limited, to put it mildly (characters get XP and level up, which allows them to use stronger gear... and that is it).

The game is notable for having atrocious review meta-score (around 30 or so), and while I do not think it is THAT bad, I would only recommend it to people who are able to enjoy trash (like B-movies and such).

Rediscovered that C&C and Red Alert are freeware now. Playing through the original C&C right now.

Still great. Though like when I was a kid, I fucking hated how there's no proper Skirmish mode (No, adding AI players to Network game does not count, they don't even build anything.).

Still, campaign is great. Love the old school FMV cutscenes. Soundtrack is still legendary, I think I had a shitty midi card or something when I first played it cause I don't remember any vocals in the songs. "NO! NO! NO! NO! NO MERCY!"

Soundtrack is still legendary,

Yeah, definitely. TibDawn has the best soundtrack out there from all the C&C games. Airstrike is still giving me shivers, even though I've listened to it dozens of times already.

Playing Blood for the first time, it's p. good, just finished the first episode. My earlier build engine games have been Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior and the demo of Redneck Rampage. Makes me wonder how I've never played this one before.

Playing two games from my past that I had in shareware form:
1) Xatax - Obscure game that is very derivative of Gradius and I have a feeling the name is "heavily inspired" by Xexex.
First episode was way too easy. Second episode put up a little more challenge but still easy. Third episode is :rage: .
Seriously, I'm stuck at the 6th stage now and I think I've attempted it about a hundred times. Fun enough game though. Music too is pretty nice.

2)Abuse - I used to get scared as hell when I was 6 years old playing Doom II, but this game...with its dark environs, zero music OST and ambient sound effects really scared me the hell away from it past the tutorial level. Now, I'm just thinking how awesome Bobby Prince was as a sound guy and I wish he was still creating all this good stuff.

Anyway, I'm at level 8(?), I think and I'm just dying over and over at the place where you freefall with the other bugs and you land amongst a shitton of them. I think I'm gonna need to get a flamethrower to get past cause the rockets aren't killing them fast enough...

What OS do you use? Did you have any problems launching it? I remember being scared by that sucker too.

Windows XP. I have 3 versions of Abuse on my PC. I installed Free Abuse (frABs) some time ago but I realized later that it was a modded Abuse without the actual commercial version levels. So, I downloaded the freeware of Abandonia which is the commercial version (along with original intro story), but it lacked music. Heck, it doesn't even support music if the setup menu is anything to go by. So, I searched a little more and I dowloaded an Abuse port for Windows which has all the music files in it. But the damn executable doesn't work on my PC for unknown reasons. I tried placing the music files into frABs but only the intro music and the Stage 1 music plays. Going to Level 2 or even loading up level 2 from the menu upon start-up doesn't play its music. So for now, its just music-less Abuse for me, but that's not such a bad thing. Kinda like playing HL1 or Quake without the CD.

Have you played Parodius?
Nope. Heard that it's a funner and funnier Gradius. It never really intrigued me, but I just might give it a go now that you've asked me.

One aspect of Parodius that isn't often mentioned is that you can choose what craft you fly, and each craft has its pros and cons. In the original Parodius you could choose from four of them, while one of the sequels expanded that to eight.

As for Abuse - I remember playing it a little when it originally came out, then returning to it some years later and completing it. Can't remember the segment you're describing though, so I can't help you with that. :-/

Antichamber :4/5:

Pretty cool first person puzzler, with interesting ideas. I liked the fact that it is not linear and you can try different routes and parts of the game if you get stuck somewhere else. The way they present each puzzle with a motto is also nice.

Gone Home :1/5:

Well, this game was universally praised by the critics, included in numerous "Best Adventure Games" of all time lists, a top seller on release, so I was expecting something good. Instead I am walking around an empty house reading notes for two hours. The story is nothing special either. Also, lol at the 20 euros full price on steam.

Renegade Ops - can't stand control at the moment. I stomached control in Dork Suls (kb+m) and other considerable as unplayable without a pad yet this one upset me enough to dump it.

Now I grabbed Resident Evil 4 HD for like 4€ (lel), heard they fixed control and whatever so maybe it will be decent.

HOLY SHIT.

This game, Jazzpunk. ITZ AMAZING.

It's funny, it's clever, it's stylish, it's not rocket science gameplay, it's smooth, it rewards exploration and just keeps piling on the "WTF?" moments.

I finished the first mission and I WANT MORE.

I'm literally (yes, literally) praying that the game keeps this up throughout. The only other game I can compare this to is Psychonauts.

Whatever you say, Hunter.

A side quest involving a mini-game. Pretty standard fare for Jazzpunk.

I'll admit that I'm a sucker for this kind of humour.

Played a moment with Resident Evil 4 HD. I can confirm that mouse aim works now, hooray. Only issue is graphic - not that impressive yet stutter horribly on my not so great PC. And you can choose if you want play 30 or 60fps, the latter have big jumps in performance for some reason.
Best play in windowed mode. Somewhat miss savestates from GC/PS2 emulators...

I found some Painkillers mods... like Reload or Supernatural. For some reason both have maps from Necrovision and both are harder than basic games. Not sure if that's because I lost my skill or simply because it's made by rusian. Better blame ruskies.

Finished Commandos 1. Tough game. Still looks great, must've been a real eye candy back in 1998. Games like Jagged Alliance 2 are downright ugly in comparison.
Start with Commandos Beyond the Call of Duty.

Also playing Legend of Grimrock 2. More confusing than the first one, but great.

And Xpand Rally Xtreme here and there. It and Xpand Rally > Colin Mc Rae Rally, DIRT, Richard Burns etc.

Start with Commandos Beyond the Call of Duty.

Played those games back in the day and yeah, they looked really nice, the attention to detail was truly amazing. Commandos is probably the only game in which you really feel you're alone against a whole army, and if you fuck up, you fuck up, and that's it. It's an amazing change in comparison to all those "one soldier saves the world" kind of games.
Beyond the Call of Duty was fucking hard as well. I had nightmares while trying to sneak my men on that island.
It's also nice that we could enjoy gams with similar mechanics as well, like Desperados or Robin Hood, the latter being a personal favorite with even more gorgeus graphics. Play it if you haven't. It's considerably easier than Commandos, though.

One of the Commandos games had a female spy with an ability to distract (male) enemy soldiers via chitchat; this ability was a lipstick and it was implied she tried to seduce them. Of course, wymyn can only contribute with their sex. Cishetscum game confirmed :smug:

The only tower defense games i played before were flash games so i am playing Prime world: Defender to see how fast em i going to get bored with it.
The game is basically split into two parts, the tower defence part which is made of very short missions(the missions are usually over before i make a perfect defence and then just wait for waves of enemies to die) and the tower/magic card rullet (the only way to get cards is by either wining a misson and picking one of five cards at random or buying package of random cards from the shop).
It takes alot of random mission grinding to get the right cards for upgrading/evolving/fusing cards in youre deck and advancing in the story, so its getting kind of repeatable and hard to plan any kind of tactic with youre deck (after 15 missions i still cant upgrade my mortar tower to level 2 because the right card is not droping).

Right now im playing because i want those cards in my deck, after i get them i am probably not even going to finish the story.

I think the first quarter of Antichamber was great, then declines and after the halfway point turns to diarrhea. It's just block puzzles. Boring ass block puzzles. It might as well have shifted you out of the game into a Flash window and just presented you with the puzzles. Such a disappointment.

I've been playing Revengeance, Devil May Cry, Isaac Rebirth, Starport Gemini (shit game, I got suckered).
However, the game I've been playing the most is Left 4 Dead 2. I forgot how much fun that game is, especially with friends.
