This was a pretty meh campaign, I would have pledge if they had done this after Torment, so I could have some idea of what InXile could do and if they really improved from Wasteland 2.

Lol you guys are literal-minded. He's obviously challenging Bethesda. "We're coming for you" = "Prepare for competition".

Yeah that is the conclusion I came to after thinking about it.

But with him being basically one of the fathers of the original Fallout my knee jerk was thinking he was trying to get the rights back.

My point is, Infinitron, who made you the marketing specialist to give advice like that? This is above your pay grade.

Whoa what the heck lol since when is opining on the Codex claiming to be anything other than the usual online opining?

All I was saying is that if inXile are now more excited by making games than by crowdfunding them (as they should be), then maybe having a playable game is what they need in order to make their crowdfunding campaigns more exciting. I'd love it if they could invest the same effort they did in the Torment Kickstarter campaign back in 2013 into all of their campaigns, but they seem unwilling or unable to do that anymore. So basically, utilize your strengths is what I'm saying.

Dude, they're just employees, they're not subjects who decide stuff. It doesn't matter if they're excited or not - given assignment they will produce needed texts and images or whatever. Their own private personal feelings don't create the hype train. There was no train because the game went on Fug instead of Scamstarter. That and W2 sucked.

Nobody's "tired" of crowdfunding at inXile, and it's not that it's somehow the reason the campaign was bleak. It was bleak because stretch goals weren't being met, because no money was coming in. Nothing was moving.

I'm not talking about anybody's personal excitement. I'm talking about the amount of effort the company as a whole is willing to invest into the crowdfunding process, which is a measure of their collective "excitement".

As it happens, I know why Torment's campaign was so good. It's because inXile had a hired a bunch of people who didn't actually have anything to do yet, so they had to make a kickass campaign to fund their project or end up on the streets. The Bard's Tale IV and this campaign, on the other hand, were done by people who were already working on other things.

The amount of money coming in isn't really relevant to what I'm talking about. A good update is a good update. The Seven Dragon Saga Kickstarter had a bunch of cool updates even as it crashed and burned.

So you're saying Fargo is mismanaging inXile by not allocating appropriate amount of man-hours/funds into the campaign. I see.
You should've said so directly without those ambiguous and blurred definitions like "collective excitement", "collective exhaustion", "collective desire to make great games": basically looks like you'd say anything but to bluntly put blame directly on people responsible.

Fargo just tweeted this less than 30 minutes ago after sending a tweet thanking folks for Wasteland 3 success.

What the literal heck?
Fargo purchased Interplay whole when put on sale by Herve and found some bit of the Fallout IP he can use?

The Wasteland 3 Fig campaign is in its final hours.
Good riddance.

It's almost as if fucking up W2, going Fig and blacklisting us had an impact. Almost.

I like Ziets' work but even him can't clean that shit aftertaste. Most likely he'll end up with shit all over himself.

Throughout history, beleaguered rulers have often invited foreign powers to intervene in order to settle succession disputes. It's certainly not the usual plot choice for a post-apocalyptic game, though.

Yes, but they were rather one of the fighting sides for succession than a dying ruler.

It's actually a pretty good plot hook.
Yeah, because simply dismantling nuclear weapon is inconceivable. Genius plot.

Why would he dismantle them? He's interested in getting Rangers to fix his problems, not saving people from the Nukes.

He didn't say anything about dismantling them... he said he had worse things than nukes that he was wise enough not to use, but he couldn't say the same thing about his kids. So he offered two things: 1) come save Colorado from my kids because I'm not going to live forever and 2) Hey, how would you like to have Colorado?

And actually now that I think about it he pretty much said if my kids mess things up it's going to go beyond Colorado's borders.

I finally watched that teaser video. It's actually a pretty good plot hook.
I kinda agree but even if the worst happens and there was bloodshed, wouldn't Colorado still be ran by one of his children? Why invite strangers that may fuck everything over? You invite foreign powers to help you when you are cleary royaly fucked like Cleopatra, so you have nothing to lose, you don't invite foreigners from a position of strengh, him inviting you to theoretically killing his children makes no sense unless there is something more going on.

I think he is pretty dismayed by his children, plus he's adding urgency by saying if you don't get involved they are going to play with some of these weapons that are worse than nukes and it's going to be bad even outside of Colorado.

Anyone else got the credit card denied for pledging this? That kind of stuff didn't happenend to me on kickstarter.
banks are usually pretty good at protecting their customers from spending money on stupid shit

My bank blocked my credit card for trying to back this. I unblocked this morning, tried again, blocked again. That's it. I'm done. Fool me twice...

We need an icon for heavy hallucinogenic drug usage.

Inshillitron is probably right.

Though, it would be cool with a FO1 remaster or some shit.
No. No InExile nor any other retarded company existing today should touch a game that doesn't need a remaster anyway.

Fallout 1 is the Fallout game, none of the rest came close to a hair of its balls. Bethesda's filthy, carcinogenic paws are enough of a bane on its name.
