Even if it maintains the rate $40k a day, (dubious) we'd need something like 500k in the last day for $3m target. Mod kit should have been $2.5m target, because the current target goals should have
been already included in when we passed the initial funding target. I don't think just Linux client and obsidian contribution costs or deserves a $1.1m . if they don't I wonder what else they were planning to spend money on other than the content and artwork...

I'm happy with MCA being in board, everything extra is not really needed in my opinion, we got the important bases covered - linux support, quality writing, expanded world compared to original proposal.. and cash extra would just be to show adventurefags that rpgfags can do it too, and get us an even wider world, with some more bling.. But I doubt that with a 2.2mil budget it will disappoint or feel uncomplete. Well, last week is on, last day bump will be interesting, could bring in half a mil and then wel'll end at somewhere between 2.5 and 3. I would love it to beat Double Fine for great justice, but I see no immediate need to up the pledge.

So he's already starting to specifically point out in interviews that people who funded the project really have no say in anything, and that he's glad to have all of the funding with none of the accountability. This has the potential to turn pretty ugly.

Looking at the W2 boards, this is a very good thing. I expect that Fargo knows what he's doing, and I'm very happy that romance and real time combat people won't have influence over the game

Comprehension, motherfucker. Let's do a baby-food version just for you:

"We're not closed off to feedback, in fact some of it has been really helpful but we're not going to let the fans write the core of the game."

He has stated over and over that he has *tons* of accountability and responsibility to make a great game. He just doesn't have to listen to opinions he feels contradict his vision. And previous in the interview, he gave a direct example of how people who backed the game *did* have influence on the project -- resources going towards an expanded narrative rather than voice work.

And yeah, as people have pointed out, considering some of the ridiculousness that is spewed on the W2 forums, it is a good thing that he has the discretion to ignore bad ideas from backers.

And neither will anyone else. This Kickstarter thing was mostly marketed (in Codex threads) as people who want a certain style of game funding it and receiving something reasonably close to it. But it's not.

Even from your post it's clear that you can only hope that Fargo wants to make the exact same game you want to play, because he quite literally said he'll only "listen" to feedback which doesn't clash with his vision. Which isn't really listening to feedback. MMO developers have been doing this exact type of spin on their fan forums for more than a decade. And they even have official channels for fan input, which don't exist here.
But this didn't happen. All that actually happened is that he saw results of a poll (that isn't even closed to non-backers) supporting his vision, and said "ok, cool, that's what I wanted to do in the first place". The moment he doesn't like the feedback, the fantasy is ruined, and you have to justify his actions with all sorts of "but he did it for my camp, not the other camp, we're way better than the other camp" excuses and such.

That's exactly the way it looks. I didn't have to tell Fargo how to make Wasteland 1, I didn't have to tell him how to make F1/2, and that's why I'm confident I don't have to tell him how to make Wasteland 2. Personally, I was never big on the whole fan feedback thing. I think the only good that's done, is reassure inXile that there are till a lot of people who want an old school cRPG.

His 'vision' also consisted of a social/multiplayer element and it was quickly shot down.

He's made it clear that if he agrees with the idea or there's a strong consensus towards or against an idea then he will listen to it. That's still more than you can expect from most, if not all, devs these days.

No one should ever listen to fan feedback. EVER. Just look at Bioware forums. Seriously, some of those people seem to dumb to breathe properly.

Besides implementing a lot of feedback turns games into chaotic mess without a serious spine.

It doesnt matter whether you listen to or dont in extremes. both are bad!

The fucking point is not going into any of those two stupid extremes but knowing what to listen.
And the point fucking IS that there are people who are capable of that and those that are not.

And there is a new video coming up where there will be more talk about what wasteland will look like gameplay wise.

+ just to let you know, there wont be any Vision document before kickstarter deadline.
I got it kind of confirmed.

But they plan strongly to hold to their basic core concepts for all of the game - at all times.

If they don't even have an engine at this point how can they realistically release the game by October '13?

I don't see the problem in that. The toughest part is getting all the groundwork laid out. If your design documents are good and comprehensive, implementing the vision will be a cinch.

Yeah cause he should really pay attention to every single desire out there, make sure to listen to every single person and implement everything. After all why ignore the guy that wants gay romances? He paid his money right? Why ignore the ones that want a more Fallout 3 style of experience?

Where on the project does it say that he is contractually obligated to listen to those that are funding the project? He'll take things under advisement, see what people want and decide from there. It's HIS project after all.

The only thing he needs to do is make a turn based party based game in the Wasteland universe. That is what he's specifically asking the money for.
