I haven't read the thread, I'm not gonna waste time reading on ~60 pages, can people fill me up with general info, such as release date, any new screenshots (if any, I've only seen those 2 concept art drawings), and general thoughts/opinions from what you've heard/read on the forums so far? I'd much appreciate it, hearing that Troika Games and Black Isle will be working together on this really got my curiosity piqued.

This isn't the thread you want to read. This is where we make fun of Wasteland 2 forum (and Wikipedia) drama.

    Just read the Vision Document.

I think Niemti doesn't even read what Infinitron writes.

"...so yeah, this is why fuzi0n isn't neutral or a reliable source."

"Enough! He can write anything as long as he adheres to the principles of neutrality and reliable sources."

Fuck 'em. In a couple of days I'll be autoconfirmed and then I'll be able to edit the article myself.

Surely there's a way to reach out to him and explain it's not so bad. I mean it's funny to laugh at how butthurt he is, but if he's just going to troll and vandalise shit it isn't going to help anybody.

Seriously, why doesn't someone just tell him to recruit 3 companions and kill off 3 of the main characters he created and play the game like that?

Hmm, I think at this point (after reading the vision doc) he realizes he overreacted, but he still wants everybody to know how the game differs from what he believes Fallout fans are expecting.

The article isn't so much slanderous now as it is weird and off-kilter. ("This game will have characters in the party who are PCs and others who are NPCs! PCs aren't the same thing as NPCs! That's WEIRD!!")

Fair enough, a quick read of the wikipedia article at this point looks fairly inoffensive, I guess eventually he'll just get over it or realises there's plenty within the game that actually meets what he wants.

Okay, I read that link on what fuzion said about fallout, I think he is missing one big glaring issue. Fallout was the spiritual successor of Wasteland. Fallout was beloved because it was enough like wasteland and had its heritage there. The 'fallout fans' that W2 is pitched at, are more than likely the fans of Wasteland that became fans of Fallout due to it containing wasteland pedigree. I think his issue is that he is a fucktard and doesnt realise this, however jumping in with my feet ready to fill my mouth I cant be sure (havent read the thread yet, I suspect it contains quality butthurt.)

Whenever I hear of old RPG enthusiasts talking about new games only as a hope for a reincarnation of something old it reminds me...

I already pointed that out to him very early in the "debate". I don't think he was reading my posts very carefully, though.

    We Want Your Mission Ideas

    [IMG]by boilerM » June 14th, 2012, 2:00 am
After reading the Crowd Sourcing section, we noticed that the majority of replies relate to the writing of Wasteland 2. Due to the large demand, we have decided to create this thread to showcase the community’s different ideas on the missions that the player will experience throughout their journey. Everyone has their own unique experiences and ideas which can help us craft some fascinating moral dilemmas for Wasteland 2.

We are looking for mission ideas with deep moral dilemmas that challenge the player to make hard decisions. These choices should have short and long term effects that affect the player’s campaign in ways that they could not imagine. No design should be completely black or white but instead reflect the gray area of morality that your ranger party experiences. Draw on personal experiences you or those around you have had as those tend to have been contemplated the deepest and can help you flesh out the details.

We would be happy to read your story and mission ideas for Wasteland 2 but unless the thread is getting off track or you have specific questions, we won’t give too much feedback on whether we like the quest or not. We want these elements to be a surprise when you play the game.

What I would like is good and interesting dungeons, as I've seen it is mentioned in the design document that W2 will have dungeons. For example abandoned labs, or outposts, things like that. Like Fallout 1 Glow, which was really atmospheric and cool. Don't know if there is any discussion about dungeons in the game on the forums. I like the ideas in the design document too. Abandoned mines etc. :bounce:

There isn't that much discussion about dungeons TBH. Feel free to go and ask for them.

Would especially love to see secret military labs with fucked up science going on. From chimeras, to raising the dead, including citizen brainwashing, etc

Go to "my" thread on the W2 forums, and give your suggestion! ;)

Not sure if that's a good idea.

Reading some threads right now and they're making me ragequit before I even register. They have some very good trolls there.

Some people were asking for political correctness... srly?! They probably want a Wasteland with ponies pooping rainbows.

Yeah unfortunately, that's why I avoid the place. But still I admire our Codex bros that still persist and fight the good fight there. Most threads are full of retards and it would be better for the developers (if they intend to make an old school crpg) to frequent Codex instead of their own forums which are full of kids/idiots/trolls that haven't even played Fallout 1,2 not to mention original Wasteland. I wonder why they even gave money for W2 when Bethesda is sure to give them Fallout 4 just the way they like it...

But still it's good to have this thread, so if there is any major alert of decline, we can massively go there and swing the votes in the right direction. Hopefully Fargo knows what he's doing, and this won't be necessary though...

Can I "steal" your ideas for the W2 dungeon thread? :D
