Having a shine torwards modeling/painting stuff, I've been looking at a lot of the Warhammer 40k figurines lately. I'm more interested in the models than the game (they all look pretty pisser), but can anybody that has played tell me a little about it, give me the LOWDOWN, so to speak.

Some of my friends play the game. It is heavy cyber-punk in many areas. The models cost a lot and you have to hand-paint them (I'm not good at art, I never got into tabletop games). There are plenty of pictures in the rulebooks and history of the storyline, the models are detailed and coloring every detail on them can be tough.

The history of the galaxy in Warhammer 40.000 more or less mirrors the history of the World in Warhammer Fantasy. The gods of Chaos are the same, there are Eldar (equivalent of Elves), Orks (equivalent of... well, guess), Gretchins (Goblins), Ogryns (Ogres), etc.

Frowning at my monitor as I read your dumb post.
I've played it a lot, myself, both version 2 and version 3 of the rules. Haven't played for about three years. What do you want the lowdown on, though, the different races and their backgrounds or how the game actually plays?

If it's the former, I can't give you too much about that. If it's the latter, basically it involves you and someone else, who probably smells and is sans many key social skills, standing around a table arguing for 4 hours and playing the game for the other two. Normally one or the both of you has not put much effort into painting your army.

Calls to Games Workshops' customer support line for rules clarification is optional.
