You should play Skyrim instead, bro. You won't bump into grass there.

I played this game the year it was released but after official patches. Thought it was quite a blast but I did hit a few unfortunate bugs. After descending into the deep levels of a sewer system and reading creepy logs left by workers over the years that built quite a bit of atmosphere, I encountered the Lovecraftian horror at the bottom level of the sewer - but she was frozen & immobile. So disappointing. So is this game worth another go after so many years with the new unofficial patches? Will it be a different experience? What are the other must-have mods for the game to enhance fun?

Christ yes. Do it.

Was a bit concerned about a comment someone made earlier in the topic about extra content that was originally cut to prevent pacing problems. Director's Cut versions or extended cuts of films, for example, (ie Terrence Malick's THE NEW WORLD) are frequently the worst versions. Wondering if that cut content will cause things to drag a bit when the original seemed to move at such a nice zippy pace.

During installation you can choose between a plus version that modifies things and a basic version which mostly just fixes bugs. In doubt, choose the latter.

Considering the company's state at release, I don't think we can be sure of what was cut for pacing reasons and what was cute because holy shit we have to get this game out of the door

His dedication is remarkable.
Although by now most of the fixes are cosmetic things almost noone would ever notice, or bugs introduced in earlier versions of the patches.
As for people who wonder if Wesp's patches warrant a replay: There's also stuff like the clan quest mod or the camarilla edition, they are often based on Wesps patch and offer some additional content or tweaks, making it feel more different from vanilla gameplay.

I installed the Unofficial Patch and wanted to play in my monitor's native resolution at 1920X1080 but noticed GUI stretching and elongated characters. Is there another widescreen hack that fixes the issue? Or maybe by adjusting an ini setting, like FOV?

Reinstalled this yesterday and holy smokes Batman those textures are blurry as fuck! Are there any texture replacement mods out there that don't completely alter the atmosphere? Maybe it's just the introduction areas, but I do remember the walls behind Jack to be blurry blobs of poop

You probably have disabled/low anisotropic filtering. IIRC I also had this problem with blurry textures a while back and it was anisotropic filtering. I can't remember if I fixed it from the gpu panel or from inside the game.

On the n-th playthrough right now as Tremere (which seems totally OP in combination with melee and a fire axe but whatever).

My god the final warrens level sucks bigtime though.

I even had to resort to a walkthrough :negative:

Wow, there are still patches coming out from him. Is he still feuding with Tessmage? I think the TruVampire patch (spelling error?) is superior, though.

(am also listing the individual ones as used to be his 'all-in-one' pack did not actually have it all in one after all)

These cover everything. They are loyal enough to the original for even me to get. And a really good work, you may notice how they're all from the same person. On top, i also go with this, though check images to decide for yourself:

(just lower your gamma a bit)

And last, after whatever addons you fancy and/or UP, get the Widescreen mentioned above, then go and get the 4gb enabler, should be the last thing you do:

Have fun :)

Wanna provide some actual in-game screenshots to showcase the textures ? It's kinda iffy that for almost all the above packs the author provides no screenshots and he gets pretty low rating. The only screenshot provided looks like crap :

That was the same problem I had. I found some textures, but for some reason the author didn't think it was important to show them in game.

I wish i could, but not currently installed am afraid. And i do not own it in steam version either, meaning i could not do it from here anyway. Sorry :S
In case it helps (it doesn't, lol) i did the comparison 'manually' once, never looked back since. You could try it yourselves, download a small pack (it's like a few Megs) and paste after backing the originals up?

..but you already knew that.. :stupid:

edit: The reason for lack of pictures is that these are re-uploads from random user. Used to be one pack of some gigs hosted in megadownload? Something like that, the site they closed down a few (many) years ago

Tessara pretty much broke down while wesp kept plugging away like clockwork, I can't imagine anyone seriously recommending Tess' true mod over wesp's basic patch. Funny how the kotor2 restoration mods pretty much unfolded in the exact same manner, 1 side just working away calmly while the other crumples and develops a cult of sycophants.

Does anybody remember their first playthrough and how they tackled the warrens and how long it took to meet Gary? My recollection is blurred to say the least (as also proven by my inability to navigate it on memory alone) but it must have taken ages and countless reloads. Im getting too old for this shit.

You mean getting through the monster-filled sewery levels
or the "hub" part with all the NPCs?

I do remember just getting down there at all was definitely a pain in the ass. My first time was as a Malkavian so I was sneaking past everything, which probably made it even tougher and more "reload-y" than just killing shit.

Despite the level being a pain, I actually like it ... it made me feel like I really earned it when I got to the bottom.
