Starting the mod for Dungeon Siege of this later tonight. Have only played Ultima:Exodus and Ultima Quest of the Avatar on the NES system. Not sure if I've missed any story elements. Any suggestions on wikipedia entries I should read possibly first to get myself up to story speed.

Also any tips for playing Lazarus?

Read up on Ultima IV if you've forgotten the story.

Read these fan fictions: http://www.biggles2k.com/johne/ (No, I'm not kidding - they're good, and will enhance your experience)

Install these mods: http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/infinitrons-u5-lazarus-recommended-mods.74223/

Travel from town to town, talk to everybody in each town, and take notes. There is no journal, and there's quite a lot to do.

The game has NPC scheduling - try talking to people at different times of the day. There can be lots of fun talking to the townsfolk when they're having dinner at the tavern in the evening, for instance.

Good luck. :salute:

Check your the ground around your characters carefully after talking to important characters, especially if you are supposed to get some item from them.
The engine afaik doesn't support putting stuff directly into the player's inventory, so it will just drop close to you.
Anyway, make sure that you pick up the shit you are supposed to get from NPCs, as I missed one or two quest items and had to cheat them in in order to finish the game. Allegedly quest items shouldn't vanish from the world, but apparently someone forgot to tell some of them about it.

Also I was hit by some strange bug that doubled or tripled respawn rates, making travelling around early in the game quite cumbersome. Maybe it's fixed by some mod now.
