Beastmen Race: Kills-in-Shadow cannot wear armor, dual wield, or use ranged weapons that require both hands, but she possesses natural hide armor and is capable of wielding two handed weapons in a single hand.

So the plan is either to give your beast a shield or to leave her with one empty useless hand? Brilliant!

It's probably shield or empty offhand that gives stat bonus.

Why? She's a unique character with a mechanical twist. It's the kind of wacky "imbalance" some people missed having in PoE. Reminiscent of a similarly game-changing D&D feat, Monkey Grip: http://nwn2.wikia.com/wiki/Monkey_Grip

Monkey Grip allowed a shield, though. I'm assuming (but maybe I'm wrong) that this companion will not be allowed the use of a shield.

It's explicitely said that she can't dual wield, so I think they would have mentioned it if she couldn't use a shield.

Well, they might be thinking of shield use as an instance of dual-wielding, technically speaking. You could try asking Brian Heins about it on Twitter.

Always a step ahead of you...
Isn't it obvious guys, she will be the obligatory unarmed (clawed?) combat expert a'la monks in POE (burst damage + large HP pool), but without the semi-interesting wounds mechanic.

Yes, this is my first post, but I'm lurking on 'dex for years (guess tells more than enough about me). Will going to start posting, as I find the whiny grognards here much more tolerable than any mainstream game forum members out there. So I guess this place is as good as an unmoderated hellhole of an internet subculture can ever aspire to be.

Cheers

Then chop off one of her arms/hands of something like that. I love me some wacky imbalances, but they need at least some reasoning besides "the designer wanted". FFS, they even describe an attack that "uses both claws to rip the target’s stomach open", but simply can't let her dual-wield? Why? Is OP? That's player choice being castrated by BALANCE, nothing more.

:littlemissfun:

Also, that's a damn ridiculous character. Edgy, grimdark, "last surviving Shadowhunter", blablabla... Dungeon Master characters had more interesting backstories. And can you imagine anyone with a straight face saying "So, the other day me and Kills-in-Shadow were..." ? Fall-from-Grace made sense, and others just called her Grace - which is even a meaningful contraction that fits the character - , but here, even Obsidian finds her name a bore and just goes "KIS".

The character is a completely shitty cliché. I wonder if the actual designers think that way, or this really is a calculated move to catch the demographic that is now demanding more complex experiences than the average F2P game. The battle system, the cringy cliché world and characters, the corny artwork tell me it's done on purpose to grab that demographic, hence here's your villain:
:slamdunk:

But seeing the faces of the people making this reveals the true reason:

:prosper:

People with no depth trying to make you "think".

Fall-From-Grace's name was entirely different, it was a literary device, they shouldn't even be compared.

KIS, is just like calling a fighter Kills-With-Swords or a dwarf Drinks-With-Buddies. No meaning behind it, just trying to sound edgy for the kids who might be interested in this POS (Piece-Of-Shit).

totally random, but you know what my reason was for visiting the Codex a second time? That i saw a poster sig saying something about Kaiserin, tranny cocks, summoning arch demons, MCA and cocaine. All in one sentence.
Can't go wrong with a site allowing people these sigs i thought ^^
