Quick question for anyone in the know:

If I've just uploaded 200 images to Photobucket, is there any way to generate a list of links to each one rather than having to individual copy the link under each picture? It seems like such an obviously-useful option that I can't help but feel like I'm missing some big, shiny button somewhere that lets you do it.

(Edit: Just started copying links and realized that they all follow the same format, unlike some other image hosting services I've used, so I should, in theory, be able to simply copy and paste one link and switch out the image name.)

There is most certainly a button/option in Photobucket to generate all links pre-formated for bbcode.

How many screenshots per update would you recommend to get a good balance between "too short" and "too much"?

Screenshot Captor is still awesome, still free, still my current favorite screenshot utility.

It can take PNG screenshots (no JPEG artifacts) and you can set it to automatically compress them on a scale of 1-9. Level 9 results in a slight color distortion, at an incredible size reduction.

Also, I suggest getting some web space that you, personally, own, as opposed to uploading to some imageshack type site that might kill your shots at any time. And for the love of God, hang on to your original screenshots. Someday RPGCodex could set up some sort of an LP Archive site, or you could decide to repost the whole thing on Bioware's forums, or something. ;)

Edit: Linkified Screenshot Captor.

Stickied. Someone can PM one of the mods / Elzair with details if they want it updated.

I'd just like to reiterate: host your own damn images! Last time I checked out a Codex LP, it was lousy with "This Domain Violates Imageshack TOS" notices. :(

Elzair BRO, I have another screenshot utility for the OP that I've found pretty good.

http://code.google.com/p/sharex/

It's pretty lightweight, can capture windows or rectangular areas of the screen, video and all that jazz. The real kicker however is that you can set up a hotkey that will grab a screenshot of whatever window you're playing in, save it as png/jpg, immediately upload it to imgur.com for you AND generate [ IMG ] tag BBcode links to the uploaded image(s) on demand. It's pretty Awesome™

I've been screenshotting for a possible LP.

Found out that IrfanView actually has automatic screen capture ability, with quite a few options. Such as saving to *.jpg, whereas I think the other ones I tried either saved to *.bmp or *.png, which is too much file space for screenshotting every X seconds.

Also, an easy way to make img tags in HTML, using Excel:

A1: <img alt"" src" url
copy that down the column

B1: 0 or 00, or however many 0s you have in front of "#.jpg"
copy that down the column

C1: 1
Increment this down the column

D1: .jpg" /> (could add <br><br> for a one line break between images)
copy that down the column

Now, in E1: A1&B1&C1&D1
And copy that down the column.

Done!

I'm using SlickPic for my LP. The best thing about this service is that it does not rename your files, so it's easier to prepare a LP. My current flow is this:

1. Play, create screenshots at full resolution with FRAPS (1920x1200)
2. Open .txt in which I write the LP on main monitor, open ordinary windows picture viewer on another.
3. When encountering a screenshot I want to use I choose File->make copy and save it as 0000.png or whatever ordinal number I want. That way even the screenies themselves form some kind of narrative.
4. Use IrfanView batch convert to make screens to more manageable size and from a lossless PNG to lossy JPG.

Making a copy ensures that I don't destroy any source material I may still need for the update. Windows viewer is annoying though, as there is no keyboard shortcut for it. It is enough for my current, rather small LP, but if I do something bigger in the future I'll definitely look for another viewer that would help me automate this.

SlickPic is nice. Unlike Photobucket, it lets images to be displayed in original size when linked. The downside is a damn watermark on image border. Say, I don't see it in your Qasir LP. Is it because of PRO account or is there some other trick?

Ehm, no. I guess I just used it before they started adding it. Or maybe I'm linking in a particular way... See source of my post, maybe there's something particular in the link.

I figured it out as soon as got some sleep. Apparently, you just need to "direct link" instead of copy/pasting "forum URL". Thanks for pointing me to SlickPic tho!

A video is worth a thousand screenshots. A better product is My Screen Recorder. It is one of the best screen recording software. It records your screen and audio from the speakers or your voice from the microphone - or both simultaneously. The recordings are clear and look great when played back on your website or uploaded to YouTube. It will record directly to standard compressed format that works with any video editor or any tool, no conversion required.

Bandicam is good because there is no performance drop whatsoever. I tested it on a p.f.old PC and did good job.

Yeah, I tried with CamStudio and there were a lot of dropped frames.

I would like to add that if you are going to use Photobucket blocking Javascript from running makes the site much more usable. If you are having trouble with it downloading an add-on for your browser that allows you to block certain sites from running Javascript should quickly fix everything.

I was having huge problems with unresponsive scripts crashing the browser and causing excessive slowdown. Very simple fix.
