Sorry, I would have replied sooner, but I was busy recovering from my shuttle crashing at the south pole of Telos after being shot up, which happened after my shuttle from Telos Station crashed in the Restoration Zone after being shot up, which was a result of my ship crashing on Peragus Station after being shot up. These guys sure had a lot of imagination when it came to setting transitions.

Also I had to contend with being lectured to by an arrogant Atris, after escaping a tedious dialog where I was being lectured to by an arrogant Kreia, who, annoyingly, is always whispering. The lecture, as always, was cryptic and obscure, and meaningless.

It would be nice if this Star Wars game actually felt like, you know, Star Wars at some point. Remember Star Wars? Where the Jedi are noble, the lightsabers are abundant, and the characters are heroic. And the doors can actually be opened. And the planets aren't ugly.

Yeah I do. I LOVED it when it came out. By the time I got into my mid-teens I looked back and was kinda ashamed of myself for having liked it and thankfully chalked it up to boyhood fantasy fulfillment. Now I just think of it as this movie with lulzy writing, poor acting and bad pacing that still managed to be entertaining. And that spawned one much better sequel and later on one of the worst movies I have had the displeasure to watch.

It would be nice if this Star Wars game actually felt like, you know, Star Wars at some point.
Considering the above, my single favorite thing about KOTOR 2 is that it does not actually feel like Star Wars. I'd had enough noble and heroic Jedi from KOTOR1 and embraced the deconstruction with glee.

Where the Jedi are noble, the lightsabers are abundant, and the characters are heroic. And the doors can actually be opened. And the planets aren't ugly.
See you keep coming up with things that were already conspicuously absent from KOTOR 1 and, even worse, from Star Wars itself. Non-ugly planets? please point me to one. "Desert planet hurr, ice planet hurr, jungle planet hurr". Yeah that was sure some memorable and unique planets. Let's not even get anywhere near the fugly CGI ones in the new movies. As for your other complaints, the ONLY one that was in KOTOR1 was the heroic characters. Noble Jedi? they were a bunch of manipulative, lying, selfish bastards that completely deserved what they got in the darkside ending. Abundant lightsabers? you must have wiped out the whole of Taris from your mind. You know, that planet where you get to level 7 of 20 without even trying. Doors can be opened? go back and replay the game, your disillusion will be fun to watch.

Okay, so you like TSL because it's not a Star Wars game at all. but in fact is an anti-Star Wars game. Fair enough. Weird, but fair enough.

"TSL: the game for people who hate Star Wars" should be on the box cover instead of all those guys fighting with lightsabers. Then I would not have bought it.

If you can't see that the Kotor settings were a lot more attractive, perhaps you should be checked for color blindness. The resolution problem should be obvious even to someone who sees in black and white.

Meanwhile in my kotor2 game I just had the displeasure of trying to do the only thing you can in Atris' place (fighting the handmaidens) and of course, my Consular, forced to fight bare handed with no force powers, lost every time to the hand to hand specialists. Gee, what fun. It appears those "unarmed fighting specialist" feats I keep getting handed are of no use whatsoever, even in the one place in the game where you have to fight hand to hand. I wonder what idiot put that particular sequence in the game.

Took me three tries to land on Nar Shaddaa without the game crashing and removing my taskbar, forcing a reboot each time. What a quality production.

Strawman. How about "people who think there is more to Star Wars than the bland heroics that you can find in every other setting anyway and would like these non-bland elements to be featured from time to time thank you very much"?

should be on the box cover instead of all those guys fighting with lightsabers.
Your constant regurgitation of this one point that I have already addressed several times and that you have ignored every time I addressed it is becoming amusing.

If you can't see that the Kotor settings were a lot more attractive, perhaps you should be checked for color blindness. The resolution problem
Sorry, but I'm not a graphics whore*. I couldn't care less what the resolution of the textures are if the textures look ugly anyway. KOTOR 2 had low quality textures? yes. KOTOR 2 textures were ugly? yes. KOTOR 2 textures were ugly while KOTOR 1 textures were beautiful? no. Oh and there is more to "beautiful planets" than the resolution of the textures in my colorblind world.

Took me three tries to land on Nar Shaddaa without the game crashing and removing my taskbar, forcing a reboot each time.
The crashes I cannot comment on because I never saw them in either game. I will not deny their existence because I know many people who had them.

Man, I can't believe you (chuft) complained about the Atris confrontation. The talks with Atris were very atmospheric and interesting imo. Oh and one point where KotOR 2 absolutely demolishes it's predecessor is the music. KotOR 2 has one of the most underrated scores in recent history.

18 hours into the game and still no lightsaber. In Kotor, Taris was 5, 6 hours tops if you really milked it for every side quest and talked to your NPCs a lot. Then on Dantooine you got not just a lightsaber but a lot of free color crystals and upgrade crystals from the cave to customize it with.

Whoever put in the stupid bare hands fighting with the handmaidens must have been the same idiot who thought it would be a good idea to put in the quest to find out which Gand out of 50 was the famous warrior. I eventually gave up after 25 identical conversations, lied to the quest giver, and got the rewards anyway.

When I went into the alien bar I put on a gas mask and put it in solo mode. My followers insisted on running into the bar and getting poisoned. I led them back out into the airlock, made sure solo mode was on, and went back in. They ran in immediately and starting racing all over the room at random, pausing only to take poison damage. Ridiculous.

The overall theme of the game seems to be about organized crime. The Exchange plays a much bigger role than, say, the Jedi Council or the Sith. I recall organized crime being an excessive element in Fallout 2 as well, where half the time you were doing quests for/against mobsters instead of exploring radiated ruins. Is this an Avellone thing? Does he do this to every game he's involved with?

Well I scared away a merchant (Geeda) on behalf of another one as a quest, then danced for a Hutt as another.

No lightsaber in sight.

Now I read that a lightsaber part is in the Hutt's hoard behind (of course) a sealed door, and you can only get to it via a quest which you have to get before dancing for him, by going into Stealth mode (which I can't do) and overhearing a conversation between two totally insignificant thugs standing around somewhere.

To add insult to injury, it also says you need a color crystal, and "(If you do not have a colored lightsaber crystal the merchant Geeda will have one you can buy so don't scare her away)"

This game is obviously unplayable without a walkthrough spoiling everything first. I give up. Time to uninstall. Obsidian is now on my no-buy list for future products.

Bioware is making The Old Republic so I will guess I will have to wait for that to get a decent Star Wars fix. Complete with lightsabers from the start.

If Kotor2 was not so ugly and irritating (where is the Transit function?) I would be tempted to start it over and just use a cheat to give myself a lightsaber the instant I wake up in Peragus, but the game is so ugly and annoying with its sealed doors and walkthrough-only quests that it would not be fun even then.

NO LIGHTSABAH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO UNINSTALLL

Seriously? Jesus christ. I mean, I can understand someone not liking KoTOR2, but this is all for the wrong reasons. Well I hope that was a good 20 hours. Enjoy your "decent star wars fix" with the Bioware mmo then.

Wow, not adding insults to that paragraph was really hard. I'm getting better though. The ignorant insult their own selves with their own ignorance *repeats 20 times a day every morning when waking up*

Do you like playing wizards with no spells? Or knights with no swords?

This is a strange group of Star Wars fans if you think lightsabers are not an essential - perhaps the essential - thing that makes Star Wars both cool looking and fun.

I am steering all my RPG-playing friends away from this game. Even if one gets a lightsaber from the cheat console, there is still a sickening amount of Jedi-hating dialog from all the characters in the game, even ones in your own party. Seems to be a game made by people who really dislike everything Star Wars is about. Glad they are not being allowed to make the MMO.

I could care less about bounty hunters and crime bosses and their endless cutscenes talking to each other. Star Wars games should have Jedi fighting Dark Jedi. With lightsabers. This game fails hard.

And yes, Tatooine in Kotor is far more visually appealing than the "corporate cubicle" settings of Peragus, Telos Station, and Nar Shaddaa. The entire game seems to take place in a run down office building.

You're obviously trolling, but what the hell, I'll give a serious response.

I can understand your position but I still think you're an idiot. You can get a lightsaber in KOTOR2. Surprisingly, thought, you actually have to work for it. You can play the entire game without using a single lightsaber and it doesn't matter. Oh no. Keep in mind that you're not even playing a real Jedi - you've been exiled, so why do you HAVE to have a lightsaber? You clearly don't understand anything about Jedi if you think the lightsaber is the most important tool in the Jedi arsenal.

Anyway. KOTOR1 has poorly written dialog, boring characters, and a dull story. The entire experince is cliched and adds nothing to the franchise. Enjoy your terrible Star Wars game.

Is there a list of all the things that this mod restores somewhere? An FAQ or official website or something?

I stopped by their forums and found theres a 1.7 of their restoration mod out.

http://www.deadlystream.com/forum/downl ... file&id=10

Whats in it...

1.7 contains, aside from the well-known bugfixes some nice other additions, like the Visas-Nihilus movie ingame, Kreia's Battle for Telos Mod integrated, the low-res movies of Dantooine battle replaced with ingame ones, and the improved dialog.tlk mod integrated and improved upon for the english version...

Another big change would be the fixes of Peragus. Ulic did a fine job in this regard, but a few bugs sneaked in, like T3 not appearing occassionally or the well known HK-50 bug on Telos, aside from some other minor bugs. While he showed interest to update his mod after the release of TSLRP, that never happened, and he seemingly got away from modding. As such, in order to not keep said issues lingering and have some up-to-date support of Peragus, we fixed issues of Peragus ourselves. Obviously this means this mod is no longer compatible with Ulic's fixpack.
Because we couldn't contact him despite trying we had to make everything from scratch instead of building on his base as we hoped for, so some issues he fixed might still be present, if we missed them. If you find any, do report it here.

And now, without further ado, the fixlists...

I actually played this mod some time ago, was emotionally engaged. Why does Atton die at the end FFS? Had one bug on Nar Shaddaa where I couldn't leave the docks area, but I could just circumvent it by using the warp cheat. However, the HK47 droid factory quest never triggered? Why was that? Do you need high influence with him or something?

I too was emotionally engaged by this experience. Let's go read some poems together and hold hands.

Man that avatar always cracks me up

Anyway, Atton doesn't have to die at the end (he has to survive the fight with the scarred guy I think). And to activate the HK factory, you need to beat down HK squads with HK himself (3 of them I think) for it to trigger. This is hard because you usually get HK later in the game and there isn't any squads left. I never did it myself so I have no idea if it's worth it or not
