For shame.

Against the backdrop of GamerGate, the editor of Eurogamer, Tom Bramwell, announces that he is leaving after 15 years: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-09-09-editors-blog-im-leaving-eurogamer-later-this-year

His replacement is Oli Welsh.
GAMERGATE. What is with you Americans and adding the GATE suffix after every word?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watergate_scandal

(Also I'm not American)
And as with Watergate; most of the controversy and backlash comes from the rigorous attempts at covering up the incident, rather than the incident itself.

I think the scale of the corruption and shady deals in the industry is the reason for the backlash as much as the censorship. This is really kinda big (well, nobody in the real world probably gives a fuck) but it can actually ruin some of these fuckers.

Well Scott trades gave enough of one to take their advertising off Kotaku or what ever site it was originally on after a couple e-mails from people concerned over the incident.

It won't, because very few people outside of 4channers, redditors and the people being harassed actually care about this dumb stuff.

The problem is that the moment the press stops responding or covering the ongoing drama, it will fizzle out. The only reason GamerGate went as big as it did, and is still going, is because the press is giving it attention. That's why these issues need to be pushed as hard as possible, because the moment the people being targeted stop responding, it dies.

And then the dummies will continue to pay for day-one DLC and yearly sequels. Developers will continue to design according to the feed back of low-competence focus testers. Fallout 4 will still be shit. Indies will continue to mine nostalgia and create lesser works than the games that inspired them. And we'll continue to rant about the continuing decline.
