Takes some guts to even call this a game but I like the comic book look of art direction. And that's one stupid nigga.

It's a curious thing, really. In late 90s, there were a number of 3D "novels". Games that weren't games where you just picked inconsequential dialogue lines and watched the thing unfold. Literally 3D shows that pretended to be games. Now we're getting more and more of that and people call them games.

Let me know if it gets taken down. I've downloaded the video just in case.

The sad thing is, that looks like more of a game than some of TTG's recent stuff (I'm looking at you Jurassic Park). Too bad they gave up even the pretense of trying to make real adventure games.

The game kinda reminds me of that Omicron sequel, whatever that was called. It wasn't half bad, but boy did it have pretentious aspirations

Also lol @ the dead zombie cop scene. "Use the left stick to get away" - just stand up and run, nigga, running away from the cops should be something that comes to you natural.

That looks like some prime Steam-sale videogame there. Probably not worth the $30-40 they'll want full price, but $10 or less? Probably fun for a run through.

I'm guessing TTG isn't in that good a financial state if they're making movie license games.

In a recent interview, it's said that the game will run for five or so episodes. Regardless, if it can give me as good a TFD fix as the comics, except in colour with voice acting, I may be arsed to pay for it. I'm sure the entire season will sell for ~$15 during a sale.

    (TWD bits start at 8:30)

I must admit I'm glad to see a black lead for a change.

Nigga please. TWD is the hot shit these days. I'm amazed bigger publishers haven't jumped at the opportunity.

Perhaps Brian (Mitsoda) should just pitch his ideas of a ZRPG directly to Kirkman and if he likes it, big publishers might be arsed to be interested and fund the project.

But I guess the entire game revolving around a stationary safehouse wouldn't appeal to Kirkman's style.

Maybe. But wasn't Back to the Future their highest selling series to date?

I honestly don't know - kinda lost interest at some point with S&M recycling the fuck out of itself so haven't really paid attention since Season 2. Is BttF good enough to give a try?

BttF is a hit and miss. It's kind of trying too hard at times but at least it works as a casual adventure series and I appreciate that.

Balls, I meant Fahrenheit, which is not a sequel in any way. I think Omicron is just mentioned there somewhere.
Still, my point stands that Fahrenheit is a cinematic adventure game (quoting wikipedia)

I loved Telltale's Sam & Max and also parts of their Monkey Island games. Played BFTF, fucking boring and even easier than the other TT games. This looks to take the Jurassic Park route - lotsa cutscenes, little gameplay.

Their new KQ game will probably be their last chance to redeem themselves as an actual game company rather than just a producer of vaguely interactive movies.

Yeah, this doesn't look very good. I did like their older S&M adventure games, but I could tell around Season 3 that things were going downhill.

Apparently they pulled a Bioware and had staff give positive reviews to their Jurassic Park game.

As previously elaborated by others: most recent Telltale games have been fucking terrible. They're like Obsidian pushing out crappy licensed titles.

Their new KQ game is going to be shit. Setting aside the really fucking mediocre-to-awful output that Telltale's been making lately; the people they have working for them (at least among the higher-ups) are all ex-LucasArts and not ex-Sierra, and the whole adventure game approach by the companies was very different. Add on the fact that it's going to be an episodic release that doesn't fit King's Quest world exploration style at all: KQ7 could have been easily turned into an episodic adventure and was a great let-down after 6 (for a number of reasons, granted, but the division switches didn't really help at all as they really killed the story flow, especially with the jumps from character to character), and don't even get me started on Mask of Eternity or The Silver Whining. Then the fact that the whole genre of adventure has really been dumbed down by the gradual movement to the "one interaction per hotspot" system that's in vogue, and you've got a recipe for disaster.

I wasn't really making any predictions about it being good or bad, just saying that if it is bad most actual fans of adventure games will entirely give up on them.

And actually KQV would have worked fine as an episodic game, though it's so short it probably only would have been enough for 2 or 3 episodes. It has pretty well-defined points of no return between areas.

Oh, I understand that. I just have a natural anger reflex whenever Telltale and King's Quest get mentioned in the same breath, and didn't want anyone else here getting any ideas of it 1) being actually good, or even 2) being a good King's Quest game.

Yeah, what you say about KQV is true; but it still wasn't a very good King's Quest game, really, what with Cedric, the dead ends that don't warn you, the lack of multiple solutions to puzzles, etc. Actually I didn't like the points of no return either, so that may be why I don't really like the idea of an episodic King's Quest. But then Sierra were trying to do a whole lot of experimentation and adding new stuff to their line-up at the time, so I kind of give it a pass on it being so weak; especially as it helped set up number 6.

    This looks so horrible.

Though, it might be more fun to play this than watch the even worse show.
