You can't use it like normal controller and setup other games (via main menu in the game, or separate software like Xpadder) to work with it?
Only dedicated games? if that's so - it's ridiculous. Why create something that work with few things when it could work with more things?
Man, why there is so many close minded (with narrow horizon of sight) drones in IT?
You can set it up for other games. There are even user created configs for games.

Valve fires Dota2 commentator, Gabe Newell calls him "an ass"
"I don't think you are right about me," says former host.

Valve has fired the host of its Dota2 tournament Shanghai Major after only a day and a half.

jpg

James Harding.

Valve head honcho Gabe Newell did not mince words about his disdain for the host in question, James "2GD" Harding, who Newell publicly called "an ass" in a Reddit thread.

Newell took to Reddit to address thebacklash over the tournament's streams. Fans have been complaining about feeds dropping, dead air, poor audio quality, and lackluster, arguably offensive commentary.

The studio head offered the following explanation on Reddit, wherein he blamed Harding's hosting skills and the production company Valve hired to stream the $3m tournament.

Two things:

1) James. We've had issues with James at previous events. Some Valve people lobbied to bring him back for Shanghai, feeling that he deserved another chance. That was a mistake. James is an ass, and we won't be working with him again.

2) As long as we're firing people, we are also firing the production company that we've been working with on the Shanghai Major. They will be replaced, and we hope to get this turned around before the main event.

So what did Harding do that drew Newell's ire so strongly? It's hard to pinpoint, but the most common speculation is that his opening gambit wherein he discusses "the cans and c***s of the team" followed by an awkwardly told anecdote about masturbating to censored wheelchair porn the night before didn't quite fit the tone of the program. (Skip to 55:10 in this stream to watch the awkwardness unfurl). Other speculation suggests that he was canned because he had a tendency to look into the wrong camera. Most likely it was a combination of factors.

We've requested a more specific explanation from Valve and will update should we hear back.

As for Harding, he offered his own working statement on Reddit:

"This is why my statement is taking sometime. It seems more personal than professional. So I will respond. Just for the record Gabe, I don't think you are an ass. But I don't think you are right about me (well maybe you are a bit of an ass for calling me an ass, but let's find out what others think shall we?). Brb"

Harding also noted on Twitter that he was told by Valve to "be himself."

"Regarding the Reddit thread comments, it was Valve's decision. Before the event, I was told to be myself," the canned host said of the whole ordeal.

Arguably he was a little too himself for this particular program. Harding has a history of stirring controversy with his penchant for profanity and a reputation for teasing his interview subjects, but he also has his defenders, many of whom feel like he made the best out of a bad situation with the video production crew faltering on various levels.

Have you been watching the Shanghai Major? If so, what do you make of Valve's decision?

"Censored wheelchair porn"

You mean like wheelchairs in suggestive postions with comical censor bars over them? Or porn with people in wheelchairs, which was censored?

:hero:

I mean, it's not like this will change much. No one sane in any of those affected countries ever bought a full price game from Steam in the first place, but yeah.

Steam finally starting to support GOG-like bundling:

Bundles are a special discount on a set of games. If you already own some of the games contained in the bundle, purchasing the bundle will allow you to "complete the set", paying only for the games you don't already own while still receiving the full bundle discount on each of those games.

Example: Adult Swim Games http://store.steampowered.com/bundle/153/

It's not affecting existing 'packages' yet, though.

Yes, but at least they are in shape.
You don't see any fat neckbeards among pro-gamers either. You need to be in decent physical shape to compete at a high levels.

Pro-gamers often play sports on their free time, while pro-athletes often go home to their console games after the day's practice :)

Didn't I just hear a similar thing with iMDB and Google? That the search result will somehow have a higher rating for the film than the site page itself?

Just got word of this:

Market holds will begin on March 9th, you can avoid holds and protect your account by enabling the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator now.

What is a trade or market hold?

A hold is a period of time where items are held by Steam before a trade is completed or a Market listing is posted. Items holds help protect your items Steam accounts are valuable, especially if they have items worth stealing. If you haven't protected your account with a physical device (the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator), a trade hold will give you time to discover your account has been compromised and to prevent your items from leaving your account.

A delay to catch and stop item theft

If a user trading away or selling items hasn't had their account protected by a Mobile Authenticator for the past 7 days:

#Trades: item delivery from completed trades will be delayed by Steam for up to 3 days
#Market: starting March 9th, sell listings will be held by Steam before they are posted, for up to 15 days

This provides the user time to cancel any pending transactions they didn't authorize.

Cancelling trades that are pending or in a trade hold will begin a trading cooldown on your account to prevent any further unauthorized attempts to trade away items. There is no cooldown for cancelling market listings.

Remove the need for item holds

Using a Mobile Authenticator ensures that you and only you can trade or sell your items quickly and securely, so holds are no longer necessary. Increase your account security by getting the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator for iOS and Android devices. Read the Steam blog post about account security for a detailed explanation on why we implemented holds.

I liquidated all my TF2 'assets' precisely because of this (and other reasons) and now they're bringing this stuff to the Market as well.

I do not own a device that can run the 'Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator', and even if I had one there's no way in hell I'm going to install what is clearly a thinly-veiled data phishing attempt, like those achivements of theirs that require I link my Facebook account or add further personal information. As a result the Steam Market is as good as dead to me. It will be impossible to list an item on the market knowing what it'll be priced at 15 days in advance.

This is Valve imposing draconian terms on Steam services. If I don't agree, my usage of those services are restricted for 'security reasons'. I know I'm in a minority here of people affected...but I have to ask: What next? Steam won't let me play a game I purchased/activated for 7 days until I authenticate my account with the app?

They're actually trying to beat Microsoft at being evil cunts.

Ironic that you call something that reliably prevents phishing a phishing attempt. Two factor authentication is a standard on most major services these days.

All those banks that require two-step authentication processes are thinly veiled phishing attempts. Seriously Unkillable Cat -- get with the times.

I would bet that Valve support spends a lot of time dealing with people who say they have had their accounts stolen and liquidated, so they do a technical fix to make it harder.
