Yea, I didn't enjoy much of his recent videos for a while but this one was pretty good.

He says all the right things to me. PC is better, Wii U has actual games, Bloodborne and MGSV only console games worth a damn this year, Last of Us is simplistic. Meanwhile over in la-la land, PC has no exclusives, Wii U is shit and PS4 is going to sell like PS2, Japanese games suck, and Last of Us was the best game of last generation.

My old roommate before I moved bought a PS4. I even made a thread about what games to play on it here on the Codex. I only ever owned an N64 so I was genuinely surprised at how the PS4 managed to have almost no games when he bought it and got next to none over the period I lived in his apartment. Why people buy that shit baffles me completely.

- most people are pretty susceptible to marketing and there is no PC-centric marketing to counter Sony and Microsoft
- (they think that) they prefer console-style couch gaming to the usual PC desk/mouse/keyboard setup - the image of gamer in popular culture is a guy(/girl) with a controller in front of a TV, so that is the default
- consoles are still easier to setup and maintain, also cheaper to buy than a gaming PC (we are not talking long-term expenses, only the entry point)

The video was good, but George completely omitted the finacial aspect and the need of tech 'savviness' required for PC gaming, which is crucial for many people. Consoles are about half as expensive as decent gaming PCs (although this will change as current gen gets older) - we are talking entry point price, not long-term (people do not think long term like that).

The amount of knowledge required to buy a gaming PC is still a huge wall for people. Both CPU and gfx cards naming conventions are too convoluted. From an end-consumer's perspective, there is no excuse why GeForce 730 with 4GB of memory is slower than GeForce 660 with 2 GB of memory. Both numbers are higher - it should be faster!

EDIT: typo

This is a fallacy. Production companies sell consoles at below their value to make up their cost in expensive gadgets and games. I almost coughed up my coffee when I saw the price demanded for my roommate's games and the duration in which they stayed at full cost.

They don't do their homework and just expect the companies to come out with a decent library because they always have before.

Also, if you're just going to have just a single gaming device you don't really care about exclusives, any mutliplat release you get is good enough.

Well, that starts off very promising. Crowdfunding vindicated? Masterpiece? Best game he played since he started the channel? High praise. High praise indeed. Looking very much forward to getting my hands on it.

RPS too is singing hymns about the game :

RPS said:
It’s a triumph. A wonderful, enormous and spellbinding RPG, gloriously created in the image of BioWare’s Infinity classics, but distinctly its own. A classic in every sense.

Sure hope this becomes a slamdunk.

RPS said the same thing about Dragon Age 2 a few years ago. Wait untill the codex consensus is out, game journalists can't be trusted upon.

I don't care about that one bit my friend, i just want people to buy the game to replenish Obsidian's coffers. And if retards mistakingly buy it because of RPS, i certainly won't be crying about it.

Well, he has a degree in journalism. Dunno if you can get more "actual journalist" than that in the VGI.

It's not that I'm sexually attracted to George, but I have a strange compulsion to want to live in platonic bliss with him.

I remember he kinda shared the channel with another guy in his early days. He was in all the Let's Try to Play videos and even did a sub-par review of DmC. Wonder what happened to him.

He has his own site and twitter and whatnot, from what I could find out from a glance, but I never saw an explanation as to why they're not doing videos together anymore.
