So i was wondering what does Codex think about the sims?
Is it declining, inclining? What part was best/less shitty? General opinions? How do you play sims, do you cheat or build an empire generation after generation or whatever just general opinions : D
For myself i am not sure what to think about the game, i liked very much the first one when it came out, i never used cheats so i just played my family for about 100 days i think, i started with 3 roms and by the end had an really large house, and maximum carrier for one member other was jobless can't really remember.
As for the Sims 2 i played it after a really large brake about 2-3 years from sims 1 and i dunno it was amixed bag, i didn't like those platinum moods they felt like cheating, and never felt inclined to play more then 1 generation game is just too easy i guess
For sims 3 i just started playing it again after large brake from sims 2, so i have no opinions yet

I played the first one for a while, installing one or two expansions later on. Had some fun but since there wasn't much content yet it eventually degenerated into physically and emotionally torturing my families. Maybe I should give it another try in the future.

I created a monocled gentleman that married tons of woman and killed them just to get their money and build a better house. Good times.

Overall, best architecture game ever, worst everything else.

here's my quote from the simcity thread

the reason why you keep seeing posts on doing stupid shit like seanbaby playing a clown who taking care of a baby in a house of fear and spontaneous murder via architecture is because playing the game normally is boring as hell

also when I last played sims 3 apparently they took their previous level of modding support and sent it to somalia to solve sea piracy so custom depravity options aren't even in at all

I'm not a house building guy so I can't really speak for that area, I just kept my shit close together and well pathed as I could in a small house because otherwise herp derp two hours to get to the toilet

They're alright for dicking around. Obviously can't really get into them now because the series are completely whored out, overpriced software directed towards women.

That's why I started to just build houses without sims, even 2-floor houses fucked their pathfinding and made them angry....also rooms with balcony are handled as outdoor areas, with made sims pissed and other dumbfuckerys...

eh there's some but even at their worst they don't match bethesda mods

I'm pretty sure that musclechick mod for the fallout games blows all the sims 3 stuff alone on 'y u like dis' factor

as for sims 2 I think they have good stuff but it's quite underground and frankly I don't care enough to dig

yeah to be fair when I was browsing mods some of the not so garish houses looked pretty damn sweet and spoke of nextgen living

but to maintain a dipshit sims family in there...seriously the thought of placing a second level and staircase alone makes me cringe

The most depraved mods were for Sims 2, yeah. Then there were just the weird ones, like functional menstrual cycle mods.

I also create an immortal lesbian who traps people in the rooms of her house while I jack off watching them die and soil themselves. It's pure voyeurism and wish fulfillment, just pirate the thing, have a day or three of hedonism, then delete it.

well for the big housesi i had the same problem until i realised that huge houses alyways have multiple bathrooms kitchens living rooms etc. Overall in sism 2 i didn't get much problems with pathfinding and i had pretty large house, somewhere around 100 000 + worth

FWIW, the pathfinding issues were much much better in Sims 2 than Sims 1, and even better in Sims 3 as far as I recall.

The Sims 2 is heroin in gaming form. I've been clean for three years now, don't make me give in again!

It is a universal truth. How shitty a game is, is reflected by the modding community behind it. :salute:

Pretty much this, and the architecture side of things have been inclining with each subsequent release.

The simulation side is a fun little time sink, but I would overall rate the third easier than the first and second sims games.
The biggest and probably the only challenge in the first game definitely was maintaining your relationships for career advancement, the third kind of does away with this... With a high enough charisma score you can make new friends simply by introducing yourself to others and once you've made about 20 or so relationships don't decay at all.

For what it's worth, I do think it's a lot better than the second in the series.

It was a guilty pleasure for a long time. I'd pirate every expansion.

This became a lot less fun with the Sims 3, not because it was worse (Though in many ways it was) but because every new expansion and/or patch would break the entire game and I'd have to reinstall all of them over again. This gradually became less and less fun each time.

Eventually, when it came to an expansion that brought in Facebook integration that asked you if you'd like to post about how your sims just Woohoo'd, I gave up for good and deleted everything.
