The Meta Strat, or "How We Beat The Ledge" (

Alright, there's only really one way to beat the ledge. I want you to familiarise yourself with a man called Tetris Red.

Tetris Red is us from ~26 seconds ago. He is the us of the past thanks to twitch delay. Now, twitch outputs Real Red's progress to us 26 seconds after we tell Real Red what to do.
So what this means is.. if you watch Tetris Red, and imagine what he should do next, you'll see exactly what Real Red does (except + a negligible amount of troll input and people trying to predict the future).
And you'll notice every time that Real Red jumps off the ledge, it's just because Tetris Red is trying to get into position. And it's impossible to get 20,000 people to accurately predict where Red is going to be in 26 seconds.
So how can we get our input to be accurate? Two ways:
- The stream lags for >26 seconds when we're horizontally aligned with the ledge.
- We press start and A and get stuck in a deep menu for >26 seconds when we're horizontally aligned with the ledge.
1 is pure luck and we have no control over. 2 is our only hope. Now, here's the correct way to achieve this:
Generally, 30 seconds before being on the ledge, Red is stuck in the top right corner above the ledge. Once Red reaches that point, the correct thing to do is spam A and Start (A is more important because it opens the embedded menus, but we need to use Start to get the menu open in the first place).
The idea is that, in 30 seconds times, if we can get so deep into the pokedex, save menu, item menu, pokemon summary menus etc. that we're still fiddling with it 30 seconds later, then by the time we react again, our hivemind will be
completely in sync with the gamestate.
So the hivemind will start spamming right and up, and a couple of trolls will say the wrong way which will get drowned out, and we'll trot our way across the platform and succeed.
So, basically the strat is:
- Wait until you are ABOVE the ledge, stuck in the top right corner. Mash A and start.
- If we get lucky and the start menu is active when we're on the ledge, start mashing right and up.
- Pray.
That's really our only way of moving forward, because otherwise we'll spend another 10 hours trying to go left and right and left and right and jumping down and blaming it on trolls, when in actuality trolls factor very little into this - they can't predict 30 seconds into the future either so they can't even troll very effectively if they wanted to.
We need to use the meta strategy to take control of time and sync up our input and the gamestate. So start is not trolling. If you see people pressing start in the top right corner, don't press B.

Currently on the Grass gym. They only got one shot at this, since losing sends them back to the pokecenter and the tree will respawn. Then it's another three hours of humping the wall. But, with their obscenely overleveled Fire and Flying pokes they should be able to get past this gym just by mashing A, right?
