Wait it ate through 16gb of ram? That is strange, it only used around 4-4.5 gb for me at all times.

Also why do people hate the imp model so much? I thought it was quite well donr

I can confirm as well, the game has serious serious memory leaks. I got memory error crashes alot of times. This is with 8gb. Which should be more that sufficient.

You know, if it ran better on my PC I'd probably get it just for the few hours of shooting.
Are there actually any decent singleplayer shooters like this? I think I played all the good ones already and I don't want no open world shit, Far Cry 2 was my limit.

"Hard Reset" has been remastered, and it looks pretty darn good. Nice weaponry feel, and destructible environments too - on superficial cosmetic level, but still better than what most FPS bother with these days.
I'm playing Hard Reset remaster and it's ok to boring. Too few weapons, too few enemy types. Too limited movement and invisible walls everywhere. The environments are pretty and atmospheric. The movement is too slow, the jump too sluggish to be used in the combat, it's only good for jumping around the map for travel. The swarms of enemies often have lots of hitpoints, the ammunition system I don't like - I almost empty the whole magazine in every fight. I'm playing on Insane and it's been quite easy, mostly because I practically don't have to aim at anything, only use the EMP mortar and the RPG. I died a few times though. The whole things feels really low-budget with the linear levels, stupid invisible walls and around 5 enemy types in total. The destructible objects seemed like fun at first but now I barely bother because all my attacks are already AoE. I think I'm about halfway through the game and I don't think I'll finish it, there's nothing to look forward to as I already have all the upgrades I wanted and nothing in the game has changed since the start. It's still better than shit like Serious Sam but tbh the shooting felt more fun in the Doom demo.

shihonage can you recommend something else? Is the new Shadow Warrior as boring as it looks? What else is there?

Stopped reading here (should have stopped earlier, with your reasoning behind your Unreal comparison).
The thing is i don't consider Q2 a good game, but okay, hate and edge on forward. Game is not stellar, but for 20$ it's better than PoE which i did not finish yet. I don't have duckling syndrome and i don't hate on things that are not exactly the same as they were 20 years ago. I said that it's inferior to D3, but it's probably too much for ya.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but didn't you mention trying all of the mainstream ones? The last passable FPS I played was Wolfenstein: New Order, and given how the pre-sequel is based on the same engine/design, it should be also of passable quality. Nothing to do with Wolf3d of course, gameplay-wise.

Didn't care enough for Shadow Warrior to try it. It just looked like shit. The sequel looks even worse, like they've gone full Bordertards.

The FPS I've played the most in the past 4 years by far has been Tribes: Ascend, i.e. multiplayer-only. If you're into that sort of stuff, the quality FPS still alive now is "Dirty Bomb", made by Quake Wars team. It's like Quake Wars for dummies, but better than most other crap out there.

Good TPS were Dead Space 2, and uh... if you like meaty shooting/slashing but in linear corridors there's that Warhammer Space Marine game.

If you're really desperate for new cannon fodder you could try the ROTT remake? Bleh.

For the amount of the content it provides it's grossly overpriced if bought at full price. More or less the same as TNO, sans the plot and even more linearity.

It's actually better than nu-Doom and TNO, at least it has proper hordes of mobs and nice swordplay (In fact, if you are using guns in higher difficulties, you make it even harder than it is). All gimmicks can be chosen not to be used.

I suppose I did mention that. I'm hoping I've missed something obvious though, so maybe you could try shooting a few titles at me.
Rise of the Triad 2013 looks pretty weird, I have never heard of that game. Is it good? It looks wonky-shitty from the YT vids.

There was also that TPS Metal Gear game with subtitle I forget, which seemed to be good if you're into retarded jumping and slashing of robots with a sword.

There's also the PC port of Earth Defense Force, which is all about goofy blowing shit up.

I'm absolutely not into retarded jumping and slashing. I watched my friend play it and it was the most retarded thing ever.
Uh. Maybe is there a new Soldier of Fortune that doesn't suck ass?

Binary Domain? F.E.A.R. games? Bulletstorm? Aliens: Colonial Marines with the overhaul mod? http://www.moddb.com/mods/templargfxs-acm-overhaul

Crysis 1/2/3? Metro: Last Light?
I never played any Crisis game, I will check it out. FEAR 1 was ok, then I tried FEAR 3 and it sucked shit. Never tried Metro, reminded me too much of Singularity and looked like a corridor shooter with wonky guns but I'll check it out. Bulletstorm might be fun, I remember the trailer from the Duty Calls fake demo, so I'll check it out. I'm tired of everything Alliens, I liked the first 2 PC games and then it became boring. Thanks for the tips!

NP.

I think you will like Crysis. Crysis 1 is the best, though you should stop playing when it becomes Descent. It's about 70% thru the game, and it's all downhill from there. But before that, I had a blast. Much incline compared to shit like Far Cry series. In Crysis you can actually be somewhat creative. It is immersive. And you don't need to skin boars to get bigger bags and garbage like that. Also it reaffirms important racist stereotypes, aka that all Asians look the same.

Crysis 2 was not as good due to reduced freedom and heavier "plot", but combat mechanics were still good. Crysis 3 looked like a copy of 2, so I didn't bother.

Cryostasis is worth checking out for the fans of Metro games, I actually think that it is somewhat better than either of them.

I really can't think of that many "modern" FPSs that I would honestly recommend.
I can't see why people keep hyping that Aliens CM overhaul, that game is generic trash at its core and not something that you can fix with increased difficulty, inclusion of cut content and Reshade effects.

If you want decent "new" shooters, you are really mostly stuck with TCs for older ones. Something like this is infinitely better that Gearbox's Alien game:

Denuvo has been defeated, first working crack for DOOM is now available

Well, this was bound to happen. DOOM was released almost 2.5 months ago, and it has finally been cracked. DOOM was protected by Denuvo, and it appears that crackers were finally able to bypass/crack this anti-tamper tech.

Obviously, we won’t share any links to the crack. All we have to say is that this crack was created by the cracker who had previously removed some “triggers” from The Talos Principles.

In other words, this is the real deal. And in case you’re wondering, no; this crack is not from 3DM.

This crack appears to be working fine, so yes; this is the real deal.

It will be interesting to see whether other games, powered by Denuvo, will be cracked via the method that was used for DOOM.

3DM previously claimed that it had a working crack for Rise of the Tomb Raider, although it had not released it to the public yet. Whether that claim was true or not remains to be seen.

As said, we won’t allow links to this crack (even in our Comment section). The only reason we’re sharing this news is because this is the first crack for the latest version of Denuvo, something that will undoubtedly interest a lot of our readers.

edit: Talk about a clickbait article, apparently they didn't crack the DRM proper but rather found a way to bypass it.

What awful garbage. For some retarded reason, I believed the promises that the game would be a recreation of the style of original Doom, now I feel raped for having paid money for it. This so-called "Doom" is supposed to portray an outbreak of hell, but what it does is make the player's life hell instead. That retard what's his name at ID wasn't satisfied after raping Doom to death with Doom 3, he seems to have wanted to rape its corpse too, and all this very publicly.

Walking health orbs, aka zombies you need to kill with glory strike because otherwise you waste bullets - spoils the mood. Every monster is supposed to take part in the game-length stress test by being able to take away a bit of your health without giving back any health. In this game, there's no resource management, no stress test, because your health and ammo are pretty much refilled during or after every combat situation, at least if you can tolerate taking part in the glory kill idiocy.

This ease of refilling also leads to an incredibly amount of repetitiveness, because levels and the whole game boil down to surviving first one atomistic "combat room", then another, then another, levels lose their meaning, the game doesn't constitute an organic whole. You might as well play the same combat room over and over and say you've beaten the game. There's no element of "I've done poorly so far, I need to restart". There's just "I survived this combat room, good, now onwards to the next".

I'll try to explain this so that even retards should understand (every person who tolerates this abomination of a game is one more angel suicided in heaven):

1) Monster spawn rooms make levels feel generic and repetitive.

2) Combine this with ease of refilling your health and ammo before the next combat room, and a level is no longer an entity of its own, it's just a collection of modules - the save game check points emphasise this unfortunate fact.

3) Glory kills don't fit the mood. You're supposed to gun down demons, not rip them open with your bare hands like this is some parody of a horror game.

Also, you were fast in original Doom, but combat still wasn't hectic. It's hard to explain, but so-called "Doom" (2016) managed to lose everything, even this, that made the original Dooms worthwhile games.

I hope there was a conspiracy to make this new Doom game as grotesquely bad as possible, because the idea (and its implications) that all this was a result of honest incompetence is just too depressing to behold.

That's bullshit. "Bringing DOOM to modern audiences" my ass. I got a friend who thinks Oblivion is difficult (at points) and he loves the original Doom games.
Even I, a popamole console retard millennial can enjoy the original Dooms.

I don't think it's about the original Doom being too difficult or inaccessible (aside from the controls, maybe), but about the fact that modern gamers are millenial snowflakes who constantly need to be reminded of how awesome they are with EPIC and cinematic takedowns and all that garbage. Otherwise they lose interest.

The engine is pretty good actually. It is the art direction that's fucked.

Couldn't help removing it from inventory. Didn't make it far because my GTX 660 can't handle it. Even at low settings i get 30 FPS at best. I did find it interesting though that at the highest difficulty setting the game appears to be... difficult. Expected popamole all the way.
