Aventuria is in danger!

'The Dark Eye: Skilltree Saga' releases at December 4th 2014 on Steam

Düren, November 27th 2014 – We would like to announce the latest collaboration of Silent Dreams, the creators of the Grotesque Tactics saga, and Headup Games, which will launch on Steam on the 4th of December: The Dark Eye: Skilltree Saga.

The Dark Eye: Skilltree Saga is the first casual RPG with Rogue-like Elements in Aventuria - the world of the famous pen and paper RPG "The Dark Eye". Choose your race as human, elf or dwarf and battle your random generated opponents in up to 100 deep stages with numerous skill, which you can advance and enhance.

That just struck me as really lazy, and that's apart from, the 'flash' combat. The elf in that video was just a reskinned human and I suspect so was the dwarf.

I like TDE, Drankensang was a worthy time sink, but I don't really find this appealing.

First RoA HD, then this.
TDE license must be awfully cheap.

At least BG1 and (possibly) 2 will restore some dignity in the rpg department.
But yeah, instead of making shovelware, better try to import the pnp books to other countries. I'd buy them right away.

Sigh...at least with the license getting regular "exercise" there's some chance of a more proper game being made of it somewhere down the line. At least pick better development partners as this is only a step removed from the bombed KS attempt of the Ars Magica folks from awhile back. :/

I mean, they could've just skipped to something that would actually be good as per an ADOM in Aventuria project---but OK, fail upwards as you do TDE overseers.

Dat trailer... did I just see a heavily armoured guy with a sword propel himself 5 meters horizontally to jump-kick a giant mosquito? :D

I think it looks fun enough. 10 Euros seems too much but in a -75 % deal... I'm sure I'll be able to squeeze a few hours of fun out of it

Pff, why bother releasing another casual TDE rpg with blackguards 2 on the horizon? :troll:

Is the codex review going to unleash some investigative journalism (tm) about the people pimping the license?

The company which owns and gives out the license for TDE computer games is a different company than the one developing the ruleset, the metaplot and the world. They have an ongoing TDE browser game (somewhat based on the single player adventure books) and previously sold several TDE cell phone games (Java ones). One could say, most of the TDE computer games have been small, mostly cell phone games and the occasional Drakensang or Northland trilogy is a lucky exception.

Man, Silent Dreams certainly sold out badly.
The guy was one of the best known NWN modders, and the RPG he originally wanted to make sounded alright. He even convinced one or two people from the original Gothic team to join him.
But then they must have run out of money, and have been producing shovelware ever since.

I have a no-play-no-buy-policy in regards to any games that contain video game jargon in the title.

Also, I read that this game doesn't require any input from you during the fights. You basically press the start button and decide afterwards, if you want to go home to heal or do the next fight. Losing a fight doesn't seem to matter much, either.

This trash does not even deserve to be on the same planet as the DSA franchise. A disgrace of a license if I have ever seen one.
