I wouldn't expect someone who lacks the higher cognitive functions needed to emotionally engage with a work of art to understand. Go back to your soulless German automata.

Bros, bros! Basking in emotional engagements, it seems everyone has forgotten that Shepperd S. Shepperd could die at the end of ME2, and ME3 was advertised to be playable by some other EXTREME Space Jesus. Anything came of it?

Now it all makes sense! If Shepard S. Shepard dies at the end of ME2, Marauder Shields wouldn't get the opportunity to face his nemessis. So, in the deal he made with the Reapers, Marauder Shields asked for Shepard S. Shepard to be revived after his death at the end of ME2 so that the epic face-off could happen in the final moments of ME3. See, Marauder Shields is the key to filling those nagging plot holes.

Yes. If Shapard dies in ME2 you play as Lieutenant Herder, Shepards cousin, who is just like Shep, only gay. You only get gay romance options, and at the end you get a fourth choice. You can push a button that is in collors of the rainbow, and instead of blue/red/green energy, the Citated releases a pink energy pulse and the Reapers and the entire galaxy become FABOLOUS.

I believe that Marauder Shields is actually... Nihlus, repurposed by Reapers to take down Shepard.

Why? Gameplaywise what does ME2 have that ME3 doesn't? Storywise they are both pretty derp... So why the sad face?

ME2 had better combat, more variety in enemies and had to think about tactics (on Insanity) because of the different layers of defense. In ME3 the enemies are "tough" only because the Mechs, Brutes and Banshees have a lot of armor. It gets tedious fast.

Bioware said ME3 has less Squadmates than ME2 because they have more depth but they don't. They don't even have their own side quests.

Those layers of defense are still there and are still taken down the same ways. I can't speak for Insanity but on Normal the level of challenge is very fair and actually somewhat steep during the endgame, without becoming an annoying grind. Definitely doesn't feel like HP bloat on that setting to me. Something tells me they didn't spend much time balancing things for the higher difficulty levels.

I dunno, my memory may be faulty, but I enjoyed the overall tone of ME2 much more. It was more... relaxed and light-hearted, I guess? The concept of the suicide mission was good too, even if Bioware-linear-with-a-ridiculous-boss-fight-on-top, and the abduction of your crew. Also, and I'm not really coming out of the closet here since I admitted this before, but I enjoyed the characters, missions and writing in ME2. Much less so in ME3 -- too much derp, can't even switch the brain off.

Combat-wise, though, ME3 is okay... except for the Banshee, ugh. And turrets. Fucking turrets rising out of nowhere. Also, I had to rely on this Vega guy as a tank... character-wise he sucks. Why the fuck did they even introduce him?

Well, Normal is just way too easy for me, you can basically just smash X and awesome stuff will happen enemies will explode. Hardcore and Insanity don't make combat much more difficult per se, you'll just have to run away from the Mechs and Banshees when they get close and get more ammo.

Really? Because for me it's the other way round - the enemies in ME 2 were all the same to me, and once you snuck behind cover you could sit there till kingdom come. Now at least you have to move your three letters from time to time as they use granades, smokescreens, lay down turrets, repair machines (e.g. Atlas) use advanced Biotics, dodge your abilities, and so on. IMO, gameplay in ME3 improved significantly.

To be a tank. Also they promised to give Freddie Prinze Jr. a role after he went out with Hepler.

I agree that small bits and pieces in ME2 were executed quite good, but the overly leisurely tone didn't match the pressure the main narrative was supposed to instill in you - saving colonies, not babysitting your crew. Yesterday, I've read very good article, as to why the main story arc in ME 2 is faulty at best:

    http://www.shamusyoung.com/twentysidedtale/?p=7004

In general, I too enjoyed the slower pace of ME2, but it would fit better in some spin off set in the same universe e.g. one where you command a group of mercenaries doing some dirty work for Cerberus or Alliance, with some leisure time for the rest of the crew. Putting Shepard in it with for no reason the motivations that he had was just... o_O

Banshees are really OP - they are a little easier to take down with a biotic and a GOOD Sniper rifle (e.g. Black Widow), and biotic ammo (tacked-on skill) but the last fight in the game with them in, on Insane was just trolling. I hate fighting Reapers in Multi just because of them.

Turrets though? There's nothing hard about the turrets - though I played ranged oriented Adept so I can't really tell how painfull it must have been for a Vanguard.

Thanks, I'll give that a read. Truth be told, however, I just... don't care that the tone didn't fit the story. :P In fact, I'd rather ask: story? there was a fucking story? I thought it was all about a group of space bros and sises hanging out together and then killing some stupid terminator boss for the lulz. Me likes.

Heh, tell me about it. As a Vanguard, I'm supposed to be running at enemies, not from them FFS!

The turrets were somewhat of a pain for me (much less so than the Banshee, though) since I always found them behind me when rushing around the battlefield. In contrast, the enemy grenades were never as much of a problem to me as they were to you (I assume).

Thanks, Ed, but I don't feel like playing MP. It tends to take up too much of my time, and I don't have that much currently.

    :(

Multi games can be as short as 10m, and people drop in and out all the time. None of us are super hardkkore or anything. But I understand. If you change your mind, check the main thread.

Fair enough. Truth be told, I share your view, and liked the game for what it was. However, being a major storyfag I can't help rolling eyes at what Bio did there and in ME3.

Yeah, imagine that you are sitting somewhere, leisurely sniping moles from behind boxes made of Adamantium, when you suddenly start hearing fast beeping noise from under your arse. Before you get your act together with the sniper rifle and all you are already on fire...
