Yes, solo characters may actually have an easier time with late game content, due to leveling faster and overtaking the difficulty curve.
In fact, that's how I have played it.
Was different and somewhat refreshing. Don't regret playing it. But I did enjoy MotB, Mysteries of Westgate and even base NWN2 more.
You do get filthy rich and eventually snowball content. Although it may be more challenging with whole party levels.

I tried SoZ and it fulfilled the reputation of being a very cool Pool of Radiance-esque design crippled by the fact that it was still NWN2, still RTwP, and sluggish beyond comprehension (compare it to PoR where you can probably reach any map tile in the game from any other map tile in the game within maybe a minute and half if you know the fastest path there, including the fights if you're overpowered).

I felt dungeon crawling in NWN 2 was a drag, so the small dungeons were a blessing and they fit the tabletop (descriptive) style of the game. Playing it expecting a deep story like MOTB led to disappointment, but for character building and world exploration it's a rewarding game. The choice of the overland party leader really makes a big difference and playing experience (being able to pick your encounters vs. loading, fighting, loading....)

Not only that, the small dungeons and "menu" drive towns are consistent with aspects of Gold Box design. Curse of the Azure Bonds and Death Knights of Krynn, for example, featured side adventured taking place in mini-dungeons.
