Blizzard fucked up from the start because all they had to do is remake SC D2 W3 to work on modern systems and maybe new graphics and it would sell by truckloads and everyone wuld be happy

Damn I don't like this..

We've already progressed to SC2, I think that this will only split the (already limited) playerbase.

Where is the multiplayer scene going to go now? SC2 or SCHD?
It will go to a better game. I already started watching BW tournaments now they got English casters again.

Multicultural socialist utopia
People have steadily been returning to brood war over the last year, and these days players like Flash and Bisu are streaming BW on teamliquid/afreeca, with rumors of jaedong returning.

Starcraft HD is nice and all, but the resolution never bothered me. The problem with BW is hacking on the public servers and no Lan latency. I had always hoped blizzard would integrate brood war into BNet 2.0.

Yeah I get the feeling they will also mess with other stuff like the twelve units per group limit for the sake of what they will claim is convenience.

But having more than 12 selected units is for the sake of convenience. Or do you enjoyed that?

Could be fun, just wondering whether custom maps will work with graphical updates.
Also, I hope they don't introduce same subscription based shit for custom content they did in SC2.

More interesting than MBS/control group limits is whether this will greatly increase the visible land area. If so that would probably be the most influential change. Unless they are re-rendering everything you're looking at at least an over 50% increase in viewable land area and that's if they have a 2x zoom and don't trim down the UI.

Personally I think MBS should be included but 12 control group limit should stay.

I'm kind of torn between "keep compatibility with old maps" and a potential "new editor and scripting capabilities as powerful as WC3/SC2". Probably can't get both.

I really hope it will. I loved what high res mods did to original Starcraft and Diablo II. Zoomed in FOV of Starcraft II is one of the most annoying things about it to me.

Enjoyability is such a subjective concept. Would you enjoy getting crushed in 10 minutes by zergs who make nothing but mutas?

'Cause that's what would happen if you removed the limit. Probably even if you just increased it to 20 or so.

Increasing the limit would make no differece, because I could still make 3 groups of 12 units and assigning them to the 1-2-3 hotkeys in the original game.

Even if there is going to be such an announcement I doubt it is going to happen this year.
