Reading articles about this with absolutely no mention of the first run of SW: Battlefront games is wild, maybe an instruction from EA? Even if the writer never touched the old ones, an acknowledgement and some comparison is to be expected, especially with this being a bit of a move back to them with the classes and unlocked specialists/heroes. I'm even seeing "original Battlefront", but they mean the one from last year.

Gotta say, this looks pretty damn sweet. Yea yea popamole shootah 2017 lelwtf casual and all that aside, it looks like a decent upgrade from Battlefront 1, shinier graphics obviously, but also more of everything else, combined with all eras. I'm gon play dis I think.

It's EA, they're going to fuck it up. It is their destiny

Microtransactions to support their "free DLC" since they don't want a playerbase divide.

Fuck you EA with all the dicks.

I watched the new trailer today. I have to say I am reasonably optimisitic, as any man with an installed torrent client can be.

Yoda in a TIE-fighter? Okay then.

He flies that ship in the last season of the Clone Wars.

Graphics look nice but I think the possibility of a Starfighter game ala X-Wing/Tie Fighter died once the controller replaced the joystick.

Beta is LAUNCHED

I can safely say, it's fucking amazing. Heaps and bounds ahead of Battlefront 1. BF1 feels like a demo, a pre-alpha tech-demo to this game.

Can't wait for launch in november.

I opened Origin thinking maybe there's some place where I can preload the open beta for tomorrow and noticed the deluxe edition is more popular than the standard edition, which I don't understand.

I don't see any difference that should justify the extra 20 dollars. They get a few cards, a few earlier unlocks and some attachments. That's it. I don't wanna judge, since some of you may have preordered that version, but I can't help wondering what these people are thinking. It's not my problem, except technically it is, since it leads to more bad preorder culture. The standard price of games is gonna be 80 dollars, perhaps sooner rather than later.

That's just EA trying to upsell. I doubt it's "most popular" but they always try and get you to buy the more expensive version on Origin - it's always the default option (you have to actively hunt to find the way to get the cheaper base option).

I tried the beta last night and I guess it's probably OK for a bit of casual fun - it seems to have a bit more depth than the first game, although a lot of modes/maps are locked out so it's hard to make a proper judgement. If the single player is decent that would certainly add to the value of the package. My oldest son is keen so I'll probably get it from him for Xmas and check it out myself sometime.

As someone who has never played BF, I don't like the beta. I was getting killed a lot, and the map was kind of boring. The third person view isn't very good. The flight controls were weird. Why couldn't they just copy Rogue Squadron's?

It also has chromatic abberation. Because every AAA game needs to have it now. Noticed it right away. Ew. As usual, there is no option to disable it.
