Seems the Oblivion Lost Boys are going to deliver a big "director's cut" which will actualy fill out their huge sprawling maps with some new enemies, encounters & quests. On the Stalker series I am kind of a "happy she is nekkid" kind of guy so more stalker is better than no new stalker so hopefuly this is a sign of things to come...

What do you mean? They are making "improved" Oblivion Lost mod for SoC after all these years of it not being developed (mod)?

I lost the track of what's going on with Oblivion Lost years back. I see some OL for donwload here or here but actual differences are hard do describe.

MSO is one of the funniest mods for CoP. Really brings some life to the Zone and can create some very interesting situations.

Ok let me clarify; the Dezowave guys made a standalone Stalker game based on the early designs for Stalker SoCh, with some of the áreas, concepts and features (like driving vehicicles) and name the project as Lost Alpha.
They released the game early this year and while the game was entertaining enough, some of the new maps felt kind of empty both in encounters and in quests and content.
So now Dezowave has revealed they released the game but kept working not only on bugs, but in new content for those new maps, still no news on when they plan to release the new patch

You should have said Lost Alpha boys than, because there is a really old Oblivion Lost mod, and it's different from what these guys are trying to accomplish. I hope hope the continue working on Lost Alpha and "perfect" it in what it should have been in the first place - best Stalker game.

Lilura, close your ears.

Interesting how Misery 2 seemed to have created different niches for each specialist: assault has an advantage for killing bandits, sniper an advantage in hunting animals, and recon on getting artifacts. Well, at least in Les Miserables tweak Im using (which increase pay for artifacts and mutants meat). Im still on Zaton though, dont know if my recon will manage to keep relying on artifacts on Yanov and Pripyat.

Ok, Lilura open your ears.

Well, there is MODDB mod of the 2014 going on, and for my surprise some of these modders asking for vote for one, that I though are long dead. Like Pripyat Redux. Found that new Redux 2.0 will bring new stuff like missions and gear and went to
Still bitter after Lurk though...

Did you guys know some russians put both sequals into SoC? It's called Nardonaya Solyanka, and it's got all of the maps and most of the content.

Accidently deleted my old SoC installation and raged hard. Yesterday I got the game on steam ( thanks again barker_s !) and lo, my savegame is still there. Archived them on my external HD just to be sure. And installed Autumn Aurora just to test it out. Damn it lools absolutely gorgeous! But... its too hard :( cant even complete sidorovichs first quest to kill all mutants in one area because I cant see the damn dogs in the bushes/grass. Military at the bridge simply oneshot me despite my best efforts. And that is on novice difficulty. Slowly I think, despite me immensely enjoying the game, STALKER was not meant for me (the difficulty) :(

You shouldn't try to kill the millitary at the bridge, I think they only shoot if you have a weapon drawn, at least in vanilla. When you're stronger and are asked to get the documents from them, maybe then you should try...

Only other option is to pay them 800 rubels to get past the checkpoint, which I don't have. Barely have enough money to buy a piece of bread. :D

can't you just go past the checkpoint by going through that anomaly-infested tunnel 100m to the left of the checkpoint, like in vanilla?

Heh, didn't know that there was a third route, always shot my way through the checkpoint. Thanks, I will try that out!

There are around four routes:
  • checkpoint
  • sneaking over checkpoint (difficult, mostly one direction, preferably at night, not sure how viable with mods)
  • anomaly tunnel to the left
  • through broken fence and across a railroad to the right (irradiated)
Also, does AA fix difficulty system? Because if it doesn't you're better off playing on master.

No, it's not the only option. There are actually at least 2 more. You have the option to sneak through the electro anomaly tunnel on the left (when you're facing it) of the military bridge. You also have the option to go far right (also when facing the military bridge) through the wilderness and there will be a "crack" in the fence and you will be able to pass over the railroad. Exploration and wandering is rewarded in this game. Also be careful when you're traversing the railroad that the military doesn't see you, if you walk on the railroad on top of them, they could see you and attack you.

There was no line in the changelog or installer that says it changes this. What do you mean fixing it?

IIRC the tunnel works best when going from rookie village (because of how anomalies move) while going over the military is mostly viable when going back (the fence is broken on one side and you can jump from the train over the intact one).

In general STALKER rewards parkour - even without risking conflict with the military you can leave Cordon with a merc suit, silencer, Fort-12 pistol (IIRC), some extra 5.45 and pristine p99 pistol (which happens to be one of my favourite sidearms). In Garbage you can easily get around a thousand rounds for p99/mp5 which should pretty much negate ammo scarcity as far as fighting bandits and low level mutants is concerned.

Also, does AA fix difficulty system? Because if it doesn't you're better off playing on master.

SoC difficulty settings rely on glancing hits system. On lower difficulties some percentage of hits is converted to glancing hits doing negligible damage. The problem is that through either bug (hardly news in STALKER) or design (lowering overall lethality) the system is applied to all characters, so on lower difficulties NPCs may be difficult to kill even if you can shoot properly (many players can't).

Of course on master the NPCs may be easier to kill but the game will murder your ass too.

Yes it's in english but it's atrocious translation.
No it's not patched because it's in the beta forever. Like seriously - they add stuff constanly without patching core game. LeL.
You can play it, do some quests and collect stuff. Finishing it? Forget about it. You can visit all maps with teleporter except 2-3 places due gamebreaking bugs.
Before I deleted this pile of garbage I checked CoP maps, they were all empty

Mind you artifacts cost nothing here (around 50-150 rubles, compared to vanilia where it was few hundreds or thousands). That's because Narodnaya Solyanka aka People's Soup is about 2 things - bartering (exchange artifacts for repairing tools or guns) and cooking artifact. Just place your dirty slav ass in the anomaly, drop required artifacts and/or other stuff and voila.

And :D for paying militia dosh for pass. LeL modern gaemers.

Anyway I like that searching for stashes is actually usefull in AA2. Once I found a decent shhotgun and a suit better than bandit jacket the game became much more tolerable. It's still a lot harder than vanilla but I like it. It actually forces you to use everything at your disposal, rarely had I have to barter to get a grenade for example in early game or the ever present lack of food. I'm now once again on my way to Lab X18 and really curious how that firefight with the military upon exit will turn out.

I don't see any info about any gun with AP ammo. Or maybe it's comedy like OGSE where slugs were better for armored targets that assault rifles with AP ammo lol.
I think I give AA2 a try, but not sure if that or combo with Secret Trials.

There are armour piercing rounds. Haven't found any slugs yet but I know there are some in the game.

There are new, tastefully done IMO weapon models too. And the shotgun sounds are awesome now. Never felt it more powerful to hear that OOMPH! when you load a guys chest full of pellets and he just succumbs.

That AK-reloading animation is just pure sex.

And yes you can disable the DoF effects if you dont like them. You can also install a less "brown" version of the vegetation if you want it more colourfull (it is plenty colourfull when its not rainy weather IMO)

Anyone got any idea how to enforce stronger Anti Aliasing? I find the graphics are now perfect, except for those jaggies on the vegetation - I know it can be possible because I saw screenshots of butter smooth vegetation. Not a big deal breaker though.
