My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
Looks like a tactical-RPG light, still that's way better than I would have expected from this.

It's funny when you think that this new dev was able to do a better combat system than Obsidian. Just goes to show that you shouldn't expect good combat from Obsidian. Well, it was obvious with PoE and Tranny, though.

You really think Obsidian came up with the idea to make a Paper Mario clone, including JRPG cargo cult decisions that increases their workload (having to create multiple environments for exploration and combat because of the separate battle screen)? Not that an Obsidian-produced TB game would necessarily be good, but it would certainly be different from Stick of Truth.

They changed it to that when it was clear real time with pause wasn't working.

They're South Park backgrounds, it's not like they're time consuming or anything.

Obsidian made a game intended to be enjoyed by South Park fans. Ubisoft will too.

Well, I do.
Trey Parker and Matt Stone, creators of South Park, said games like The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, EarthBound, Paper Mario and The Legend of Zelda were key influencers in their decision to make South Park: The Stick of Truth. Drawing inspiration from those games, however, led to ambition that got the best of them.

If not, why this one is allowed to make a TB then?
Lack of involvement from the creators of South Park? If you told a western developer to make a turn-based game without further instruction, they'd sooner make one with grid-based movement rather than a blobber. Altenatively, it's possible that after making a homage to a traditional JRPG, they're now paying homage to the tactical jRPG subgenre.

I'm baffled by this discussion though. There's literally thousands of grid-based jRPG's on consoles and handhelds. The time to get disillusioned in Obsidian because of some company releasing a grid-based jRPG would have been more than a decade ago.

They're South Park backgrounds, it's not like they're time consuming or anything.
Apparently making those authentically crappy-looking art assets takes more work than you might think. And regardless of how much work it takes, western developers are very unlikely to take that approach unless they're deliberately instructed to make a jRPG clone. Anachronox was a literal jRPG made by a western studio and even that didn't transport you to a separate battle screen when combat started.

Our old and dear friend Ubisoft has offered us a hands-on of this game at Gamescom. I'm not sure if any developers will actually be present, but at least we'll be able to check out the gameplay. If you want to ask anything specific about the combat, you can post your questions here.

Virtual reality keeps getting more advanced and sophisticated.

Now Ubisoft is taking it to the next level with the Nosulus Rift, a device that creates the smell of real farts, in your nose.

Ubisoft Created a Fart-Smelling Device to Promote New South Park Game

Farting is an actual gameplay mechanic in this year's South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Now, Ubisoft has released a slickly produced video for what it's calling Nosulus Rift, a piece of technology meticulously researched and designed to allow you to smell farts in the upcoming role-playing game.

You won't believe the lengths Ubisoft's researchers went to in an effort to create the Nosulus Rift--but the work was worth it. "It was exactly as if someone had farted right in my face," says a man in the video.

The best part of all of this is that the Nosulus Rift is actually (maybe) real. Ubisoft said in a news release today that people at Gamescom next week and PAX West in September will get to "check out the experience," but maybe that's not such a good idea.

The Fractured But Whole launches on December 6. Unlike 2014's South Park: The Stick of Truth, which was made by Fallout: New Vegas developer Obsidian Entertainment, the sequel is being made internally by Ubisoft San Francisco.

We learned at E3 last month The Fractured But Whole will allow players tocontrol their sphincter while pooping with "total ass control." Additionally, South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker are said to be "really, really" involved with the game's production and are pushing the limits of its rating.

"There's hopefully going to be some stuff in there that people will say, 'How did that make it through classification?'" senior producer Jason Schroeder recently said.

And enjoy that U Play (of which the other game does not have)... :M
Ugh. Fucking Uplay.

Sometimes I really envy console players who don't have to put up with this fucking garbage. Uplay alone is a good enough reason to pirate the game.
