1%, just the plebs who like Firefox and don't use any addons except maybe an adblocker. Those who can't live without legacy addons will switch to LTS. Everyone else will jump ship to another browser.

Addon developers aren't plebs, so I imagine they've already jumped ship and ported their addons to Chrome, that's why their addons are webextensions-ready, that's the 20%. And the other 80% don't give a flying fuck.

I switched to Iridium just today. It's a Chromium based browser with all the Goolag shit taken out. It's endlessly faster than Mozilla Furryfucker so far, although I will miss DownThemAll a lot. I'm still not too keen on Chromium due to the insane RAM usage and I'm afraid that there might be some Goolag shit they couldn't remove. Iridium had a issue where in the earlier versions they had some tracking but apparently that was just for crashes. I am still more confident in them as they aren't an American company and it's a non-profit thing. I'm absolutely done with Firefox now, I'm tired of losing addons and having my themes broken every new update with the slow ass shit that it is.
Pozilla is fucked anyway. Partnering with George Soros, shitware like Pocket, slower and slower each update and now the Webextensions shit.

I don't expect to see a huge drop by december, but given a couple more months of people wondering why their extensions don't work anymore, users will be fleeing like rats on a sinking ship.

Me too, still using Palemoon. This year's updates have been pretty bug-free. There was a touch of decline about a year ago but the wheels haven't fallen off as I feared. It's all right. I guess it's the best you can do when the entire web is turning to shit.

I still use Chrome/Chromium and Firefox for webdev work so I know firsthand what garbage they've become. Thank God I'm almost out of that business.

Well after using palemoon some time i would like to list some addons which are useful to me and their status on palemoon compared to firefox:
-The most important one:Tree style tabs.
Newer versions don't work on palemoon whatsoever, but somebody made a fork which works, except you can't visually move tabs(you can still move them but the tabs won't visually move)
    Here is a link :https://addons.palemoon.org/addon/treestyletabforpm/

-Tab groups manager revived:Newer versions work on palemoon perfectly.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tabgroups-manager-revived/

-Ublock origin:Works but problematic.Use 1.13 versions since newer one don't work.
Sometimes some websites like steam and rpg codex would get weird graphics and i would need to restart ublock to fix it.I am not sure if it is related to palemoon but running steam without ublock doesn't create any problems.
But it is still a must have addon and the issues don't happen too often.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/versions/

-Zoom page:Works with all new versions.
This one is mostly just for cosmetics,i like-- having a number allocated to the current zoom level.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/zoom-page/?src=search

-Tab mix plus:Some features work, but some like duplicate tab don't.
I recommend running tab utilities phoenix,it works great with tree style tabs and has all the tab mix plus features.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/tab-utilities-phoenix/

-Speed dial fvd:Works with one small problem.
Basically i only use this as mostly a listing of the most visited sites/bookmarks,you can use any other most visited addon.
The only problem is that i load anew empty tab the fvd address bar doesn't disappear as i start typing so you have to manually clear ,which is a small problem.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/fvd-speed-dial/?src=search

-Screen grab fix version:Use teh version in palemoon addons site:https://addons.palemoon.org/extensions/
Basically just a basic addon to print the entire webpage, nothing special.

-Save as pdf by pdf crowd:Works and currently there is no better way to save pdf with links as text.
Basically takes a webpage and saves it as a pdf with text and hyperlinks intact. The problem is that they have a annoying watermark that shifts texts and pictures underneath, which makes some pictures look weird, but mostly the context in text and picture form is still readable.
This is no competition to chrome inbuilt print preview where you can save as pdf without annoying watermarks, but it does the job and works.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/save-as-pdf/?src=ss

-Greasemonkey:Newer versions don't work and the version that do work are too old.But there is a fork here which works great so far:https://github.com/janekptacijarabaci/greasemonkey/releases

-Down them all:Older versions work just fine:
Just a general download manager and scrapper
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/downthemall/versions/
    Use versions 2.0.18

-Advanced cookie manager:Works fine on palemoon:
Just a general cookie manager, you can use cookie keeper and others but this one has newer versions which work fine on palemoon compared to others.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/cookie-manager/?src=ss

-Copy url expert:Works with palemoon with newer versions.
If you need to copy specific ulr or all links on a web page this is a handy tool.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/copy-urls-expert/?src=ss

-Vim style browsing:Use either pentadactyl or vimperator.
So if you like the idea of browsing the web with just your keyboard well these two addons are perfect then.
Vimperator newer versions don't work so use version 3.9.1 from this link:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/vimperator/versions/
    [IMG]

Now the other one is pentadactyl:https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/pentadactyl/?src=search
It is newer and the new versions work with palemoon.

Stylish isn't working properly anymore either, the new replacement for it seems to be an extension called Stylus, and if like me you've written some custom rules, there's an extension you can use to transfer your CSS styles from one to the other.

This is also about a month old, but the mozilla addons blog had an interview with the noscript developer.
I don't think they could've done the migration away from XUL/XPCOM any worse than they had, less they just dropped them years ago with even fewer replacement APIs.

    https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2017/08/01/noscripts-migration-to-webextensions-apis/
    My own emphasis in red.
But this guy works full time on noscript, and he won't even have a WebExtensions only version ready by FF57's release, because the APIs aren't even there.

IMO: The responsible thing to do would've been to implement a WebExtensions API, deprecate the XUL/XPCOM version, and then remove the XUL/XPCOM version in the first release following the next Extended Support Release
    IE
FF 52: *ESR* XPCOM/XUL API Only
    FF 53: XPCOM/XUL API Only
FF 54: WebExtensions API + Deprecated XPCOM/XUL API
FF 55: WebExtensions API + Deprecated XPCOM/XUL API
FF 56: WebExtensions API + Deprecated XPCOM/XUL API
FF 57: WebExtensions API + Deprecated XPCOM/XUL API
FF 58: WebExtensions API + Deprecated XPCOM/XUL API
FF 59: *ESR* WebExtensions API + Deprecated XPCOM/XUL API
    FF 60: WebExtension API Only

That's funny, cause Raymond Hill says uMatrix and uBlock Origin are already hybrid XUL+WebExt extensions, ready for FF 57. He ported them to Chrome a while ago.

You should check out the Palemoon addons site https://addons.palemoon.org/extensions/
Doesn't seem to be fully integrated into the addon manager yet... when I search there I just get Mozilla addons.
If a FF addon doesn't work, look for a PM version.
    You guys might like these.

    The Good 'ol Sidebar
Sidebar control, a fork of AiOS.
    https://addons.palemoon.org/addon/tgsidebar/
Seems to work in PM, though I don't see the point.

    Pentadactyl
Pale Moon for Vim and Links addicts
    https://addons.palemoon.org/addon/pentadactyl/
Worked the last time I tried it in PM.

    uBlock Origin [External]
Finally, an efficient blocker. Easy on CPU and memory.
    https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/releases/latest/

    uMatrix [External]
Point & click to forbid/allow any class of requests made by your browser.
    https://github.com/gorhill/uMatrix/releases/latest/

Also gotta have this... I hate it when I mash ^Q when closing a tab with ^W.
    Ctrl+Shift+Q Quit 1.2
Maps Quit to Ctrl+Shift+Q instead of Ctrl+Q.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ctrl-shift-q-quit/

Well, fuck mult-quote in the goat ass. It dun work.

But SlimJet seems to use about 200 MB LESS memory than Chrome.

Also seems to release memory faster than Chrome.

So now I can browse and also have 2 instances of Visual Studio running.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Choice of .deb or .tar.gz, so probably manual updates Debian/Ubuntu. Arch has an AUR package for it.
