So... this thing is pretty cool. (FF4 romhack)

Saw this on a stream a couple days ago. It's a sort of randomizer for FF4, with a ton of options (I'd just go to the website and fiddle with them to get an idea) and basically renders the entire game nonlinear.

Some highlights:
You start with the airship to facilitate the non-linear aspect.
Random starting characters, and random characters joining
Randomized bosses, with their combat scripts being written on to the stats of the boss that is normally in that location. So you might run into Bahamut in the antlion cave with garbage stats, but he's still gonna cast a fucking mega nuke if you can't kill him quickly.
Randomized shops, chests, and plot items. You can set how much you want these pools to be randomized and mingle together.
You can reduce or disable random encounters, dramatically increase XP gain, and they enabled running, thank god.

Pretty much everything is customized by setting some easy flags when you make the rom, so you can enable or disable whichever features you like, even totally disabling chests or shops, for example, or having only a single aspect be randomized.
