New Kat doesn't seem that bad now that I've had a chance to screw around with the tart for a bit. It's certainly a step back in many regards, but at least she feels a bit more visceral now.

All in all: Who gives a shit? It's not like Kat was viable before anyway.

EDIT: At least I didn't buy Hecarim or Sejuani, regretting the Varus and Draven purchases though, well Draven a lot more than Varus. Got to catch them all I guess...

It's funny, everyone calls me a noob for playing yi mid, and then I just keep mid pushed under their tower and eat their jungler when his dumbass jumps out of river bush, unless it's jax in which case I just run away.

Speaking of jax, he is a bitch and I'm buying him next

With so many bruisers available for team comps nowadays, Singed has really started to shine. Good thing too, since he's my favorite champion.

What are the best masteries for Singed anyway? I usually run 9/21/0 or 1/21/8.

1/21/8 definitely seems like a way to go. Gotta have that improved ghost/exhaust. I'm currently playing with 1/10/19. That extra health regen stacks greatly with his already insane sustain and early gold for one more potion offsets +30hp from defensive tree. And since he is so damn farm dependent gold per second doesn't hurt either. Nothing puts Singed into godmode faster than an early catalyst.

I like running 9/21/0. You'll have to be somewhat conservative with mana really early, but after catalyst, or even Philo if the lane allows it, you'll have no mana problems. There isn't much to spend mana on early either, as your poison takes forever to kill stuff at 1-3 and you'll die if you go frisky with the lane opponent too early levels. I love the juggernaut mastery along with mercs and his ult. Makes it close to impossible to catch you and to peel you from carries.
I usually run ignite or teleport. I'll usually go ignite for lane pressure, but when playing with people you can communicate with, teleport is probably favorable. From about level 6 I like bullying my lane, hence the 9 points in offense for mpen.

1/21/8 works too, especially if you wanna push early or if you're unsure about conserving mana, especially early.
I could see more points in utility working, but I'd never ever go for the extra early gold. I really dislike that mastery. Also, I really love 21 defense.

Oh man, M5 tryharding is a scary thing to watch. Gotta give it to Darien picking Xin vs Malph top. Pretty smart build with Sunfire+Wits.

So uhhhh, maybe it is because I'm playing against smurfs at ~20 lvl on EUNE right now (most are better than shitheads at 1500 elo on EUW though!), but I think new Kat is kinda good now. She has very weak early game, but if you endure it (I buy Kage's and HoG to get gold fast, later I just sell HoG and buy DFG) she can snowball quite hard. Of course she is fucked against certain champions (fuck you Ahri, just fuck you) but if you get few levels and maybe some succesful ganks do a decent job as assassin. Her W is reliable source of damage, even now when it's bugged and don't refress after kill or assist, so if she get her ult cancelled she can still do some damage.
I feel like she some kind of reverse LeBlanc - very weak early, transits well into mid-late game.

DISCLAIMER: This is a blogdex post, ignore it if you're looking for any insight, you'll find only impotent ranting here.

I never believed in elo hell, but I just had a match that really broke my will to play solo QQ anymore. Top was Malph (my team) vs Jax (enemy), mid was Kennen vs AP Yi, I played Lulu with Varus against Graves + Leona bot and we had Xin in jungle while enemy team had Fiddle.
They were obviously going for kill lane but we had better poke, I was doing what Lulu does best - harrasing like a boss and we were doing quite fine until Varus decided that since he has more hp than Graves he'll gonna jump on him and take him out in straight fight. The result was really predictable - Graves poped heal, Leona chain-stunned him and Varus died like a retard, fortunately I managed to finish Graves off and escape. Varus came back with finished boots, which I found really strange, since I was managing to zone Leona so her Zenith Blade wasn't an issue; you can't really dodge any of the Greaves' skills and we had to play passively anyway, so there was no need for MS to either chase or escape. I thought that we what he needed was a doran or two, but then, AD carry role is not my specialty and he has insisted to play AD, so what the fuck do I know. Turns out I apparently knew more than him, because at the next bluepill he got dagger and scepter, so by 12. minute our carry had about as much (+/- 5) AD as I had on support. Meanwhile, Graves bought a doran and later when he got enough gold - BF Sword, so our lane went kinda bad. But still not as bad as our top.

Jax is a hybrid champ, so there are some considerations in how to build your items to counter him. But one thing you definitely do not want to do is to start your build with chalice and then go full AP glass-cannon build, like our Malph did. Fortunately, enemy Jax was a baddie too, so he got only like 5 kills and a turret by the mid game. Our jungler Xin went glass-cannon too - maybe he saw what items Varus was building and decided that someone in our team needed to deal physical damage. Or what is more likely, he was an idiot. But whatever the case is, none of our team had any tankiness whatsoever and we just melted every time Fiddle ulted into our team.

But what really broke my will and sanity was a teamfight when enemy decided to force a baron. I got it warded earlier, so we had good vision and saw it when enemy team engaged it. Me and Xin got there first, our team following us a little bit behind. I poked with Q and shielded Xin to save whatever little hp he had with his "all dmg, no survival" build, but he must had interpreted that as a cue to run into enemy team 1v5. He died in less than 0.2s since that's my average reaction time and I didn't even manage to move mouse before he was dead. Then came Varus and he did exactly the same fucking thing, only his death took a little longer since I managed to ult him and enemy had some of their abilities on cooldown. Then finally came Malph and Kennen. They ignored Graves and went for Jax who was tanking the baron, but before they could kill him they got hit by Leona's ult and he managed to leap away and escape. So they both changed target, this time to Leona, once again ignoring the Graves who was chunking them the whole time from nearly a melee range...

Not random. People who are supposed to be at more or less my skill level. Which is, according to some statistics I saw somewhere (so it's probably bullshit), in top 25%. It's still scrub, but it makes you wonder how games in bottom 25% are decided. Does the team that drooled lesser amount of saliva onto their keyboards by 20 min mark is declared a winner or something?

From what I've seen it's basically the same thing, except people still build madred's.

The games in the low elo are decided by who has less trolls and leavers and who group up better.

For example, just now I played a game with Taric, yeah can't ever play my strong lanes because I'm not either of the first two picks but whatever, with Varus, against... Amumu support and Kog'Maw. So basically, since amumu pre-level 6 is completely useless if he misses his Bandage Toss (well he's probably useless even if he hits it), Kog'Maw dies so often in the end game he can't duel even me. Then some random guy wants to add me because he thought I was good... Dude any decent lane always wins a troll lane.

A game before that, also as Taric, with Sivir, against Blitz Ashe. Well that's not a troll lane but anyway it was great that Blitz would always grab me so I got in to range to stun & shatter Ashe, and they would always try to kill me what with my free armor.

Taric-Sivir is a tough lane for Blitz, tanky dude and a spellshield girl. Almost useless using the hook on that lane. I usually go in tha face with overdrive and fist and grabbing when they try to run away and spellshield and stun are on cooldown. In one of my last games with Blitz I had Taric raging in /all chat how Blitz is OP unfair noob champ. made me lol

Oh and watching Curse vs 4NOT now. Saint playing Ali jungle and Elementz Blitz bot. Slam dunk time
