Ffuu. Seems like all I had to do was to press R to use the ability to reveal hidden things. 3 hours wasted on that. And maybe I shouldn't play so drunk.Well at least I did a sidequest in KL I had previously missed.

What about different builds? Can you get a different gameplay experience the second time?

Kind of? For the most part mors' classes play fairly similar; Alaster's can be a little different as assassin works best when attacking enemies that are not targeting him while water dancer can benefit from multiple attackers and i imagine archer plays a bit different once you get weapons that can shoot farther than 10 meters (late game is ~25 so you can finish off a couple enemies before they close distance combined with immobilization skills and mors' dog).

In short though I do not think different builds justify another playthrough; however, I do not know how different the story can be if you choose to be a total bastard versus a decent person so your mileage may vary.

Are you implying that the choices are Bioware level binary crap?

I'm a few hours in and they seem better than that so far.

The game is really growing on me. Way better that DA2. Of course mainstream "reviews" don't even bother.

On problem is I get screen tearing no matter what I set my vid card to (force v-sync, not force, etc.)

    Anyone run into that?

Side note: I like how the rooms and places feel big. Castles especially. Although they are sparsely populated.

OK finished it (Mors path). Should I play the last hour or two with Alester again? Was kind of o_O when the epilogue was about 1 minute long cutscene though.

Still, a pretty good game after all.

The choices are definitely not that binary; they do tend to run the range from good, to self serving asshole, bloodlusting killer, and religious fanatic. I was just saying since the game is a fairly linear affair and I have yet to replay it, I do not know if the story changes all that much more than who you let live or die and what items you get.

In short, I was saying that I do not think different builds alone justify another playthrough but that the story might be variable enough to try another run through especially if you enjoyed it the first time around.

Do it.... Liked when I won the game but lost it.... and vice verso Mors was too hur dur HONOR above all type while Alistair felt like real man who did what he had to do to survive and protect his people in brutal and merciless word. Mors=Eddad Stark. But for second play I would wait for some DLCs.

Speaking of DLC was the mole town murders\Patrik quest line cut content or did i just miss something somewhere; for having 10 steam dlc entries I sure have not heard much news on that front.

Nope completed it without having single thing in my DLCs folder. Game is indeed good and very grim dark.

Guess what I spent my weekend with?

Chapter 6 by now and I have to agree - it is a good game. The ratings it has received are absolute disgraceful. The only major complaints I have are the loading and saving times (which are especially annoying since game tends to autosave after loading) and the rather brutal difficulty of the combat, depending on your build and weather you've figured out the game mechanics.

The game has managed to surprise me at least once, which in my books is already quite an accomplishment.

    What I liked:

+ Character graphics - the have a distinct look and not everyone is a beauty model
    + Playing with flasks
+ The amount of combat so far (no trash mobs)
+ Chewing trash mobs faces off with Mors dog
    + The story development
+ The protagonists (grown men with their own world view)
+ Picking the good choice isn't always the smart choice

    What I didn't:

    - Wonky camera
    - Loading/saving times
    - TV series music, is quite distracting actually
    - Combat feedback is sometimes lost in the hectic fights
    - The fact that there is a load of stuff I'd like to buy but I cannot afford it
    - Texture quality and some minor graphical issues
    - The fact that all of the whores are clothed

If you liked the game, do buy it. Cyanide most certainly does not deserve the flak they are getting from mainstream media.

:x No thanks for the qte button mashing carpal tunnel inducing shit; otherwise, a fairly decent review.

Fairly easy to memory edit for future playthroughs; is stored as 4byte but you have to convert 1 gold -> 210 silver -> 16 copper to get the actual value. Everything else stat, skills, rhillor, skinchanger, etc is in float.

:rage: ...is actually fine as the brothels are tied to quests and not there for just pandering to the tits crowd.

QTE? What QTE? Hehe. That's why I have autohotkey script.

It just somehow gave me immense satisfaction to realize that I'd just reduced the amount of mobs I had to fight by one. The minigame could be a whole lot better, but then again I wouldn't actually want it taking any more time or focus either, so...

Funnily this is the only RPG of the past few years or so where I'm actually enjoying the story. Quite shocking.

I find the combat rather dull, though, and repetitive once you figure out what the best combinations of moves/flasks/dog attacks are. After that it's just the "repeat the same tactics ad nauseam" kind of game. I also dislike the encounter design in that one-on-one all enemies are easy, even 'bosses', and the challenge only comes from being outnumbered by them.

Oh, and the mobs get somewhat trashier towards the end of the game, but still they never reach the Bioware/hack-n-slash levels and you can often go for a less violent/more sneaky solution that bypasses at least some of them. The dog helps as well since it can reduce their numbers significantly before you rush headlong into battle.

I also appreciate that there are just a handful of story-focused quests in each chapter, in contrast to the usual ungodly amounts of filler fetch crap. Still, I probably wouldn't recommend the game unless the story grabs you, and not at full price - the gameplay is too weak imho. Unless you want to support Cyanide for actually making what is for them a really good effort.

The story just keeps me going, though, which is honestly very surprising to me. And Mors is sweet :3

P.S. Oh, and to be clear I've never read any of the books the game is based on, nor watched a single episode of the TV series. The game's writing does a pretty good job of introducing the characters and events, exposition, etc., making it very easy to get into the setting.

I paid 15€ to see Prometheus, so looking at that... 39,9€ isn't that bad on hours of enjoyment v.s. price ratio... Even if the rest of the game is utter crap.

    :brodex:

True on first, TRUTH on second..... the rest are in fact:incline::
-Music which helps to build the mood
-Combat is fast.... or not depends if you use pause
-You will have jewgold later in game... with this fancy stuff game would be too easy as first chapters are balanced for junk you can afford
-whores are indeed clothed... but very skimpy and one PC is priest the second one is Stanis type.... Didn't expected any debuchery and language is properly rude and un PC.... Whores and sluts are called whores and Sluts.... Shocking I know.

And no gay elfes in hole game... :greatjob: The :codexisfor:who bought ME3 and D3 should buy it or fell on their pen... swords. :smug:

    Hmm, some interesting feedback ITT...

Do any of you game-owners happen to know who Mors' English-language voice actor is? His intonation's sometimes off, from the videos I've seen, but he's got a rather good raspy Jim Cummings-ish quality to him.

In past few years not decent RPG with good storyline?

I also liked a lot character of Mors, backstory on him, voice acting, dialog writing for him (in non-gay way).

Breath of fresh air from girly "teenager" heroes which we see in plenty in modern CRPGs.

Wait, the two players you play become antagonists later on?
