Fargo clearly said who he is making the game for. Now if you'd rather have a casual Shadowrun game, ok. But I think most of the Shadowrun fans would like a proper rpg. Especially here on the Codex.

Yeah well don't matter, those boxes are going to suck anyway being made from recycled toilet paper rolls, the manuals will become PDF's and the cloth maps will become poorly printed paper ones....Then I'll be like: "Woo Hoo man, you were played like a sucka, sucka!!!!" Sucks to be you man, ripped off like this man...Boxed goodies, who needs them man, you know? Like the trees need saving so fuck man, should be going digital! It's the way of the future dude...I'm going to buy something off Steam now for a dollar and be like "I got this cool game for a dollar and can get achievements and shit" while you'll be all cryin' and waitin' for your disc to install and not be able to talk to your online Steam group and stuff cause your game won't have all the cool integration shit while I'll be talkin' to my Codex buddies, discussin' shit with Skyway and twittering Crooked Bee about being a consoletard and you'll be like "boo hoo why don't I have any friends like commie, I wish I was cool instead of just sittin' here forever alone with my millions and my understanding wife!" YEEAAAHHH!!!!

Well he's still Jewing for more gold for his project....so....

Commie stop being a crybaby. I'm guessing you can afford the 15$ pledge. :p I'm a poor guy, live in an even poorer country, and I could afford 30$ for W2, 15$ for Shadowrun, and probably for Dead State and Obsidian kickstarter... Hopefully they won't come too soon... M:Of course I'd like to have boxed editions and maps, and manuals and everything, but hey, I'm happy to even be able to afford to be a fighter against the :decline:.

Of course I prefer a hardcore Shadowrun game. But Jordan is going to make the game he wants, and what he's said he's going to make is a turn based game with standalone missions and 1 main character.

Yeah I guess. $15 clams I can swing, yeah..barely, but I've still Tex Murphy and Obsidian to go and fuck, I'd have liked at least one nice box from those to put on my shelf! Last proper boxed game that's there is from 2004(collector's edition of HL2. :M) even though I have bought those DVD case things since here and there from the bargain bin. One thing that gives me hope is that Fargo has said that the online store will allow for upgrading of pledges eventually, so maybe by then I'll have scraped up something. If all the KS groups that I follow do something similar then maybe I can still give the minimum for now which; as you say; makes one a part of the fight and that is the most important thing. I couldn't bare to just be a paper warrior, bleating and farting about the 'decline' without doing anything at all.

I think Obsidian's project will be much later, so you might be ok still saving up for that one.

Until one of these games comes out some of us may be sitting in wheelchairs, so don't give up a lot can happen in the meantime.

Well I never played Wasteland either but I played Bards Tale and would never support something so inane.

    I dunno

it just might be a boner killer if you're interested in it just for the setting, and you see the setting as potentially DE:HR on steroids

Sure, but only for people with very primitive tastes.

Some of the best science fiction worlds are interesting exactly because they integrate the supernatural and SF, usually in a more scientific "Psi" form (jaunting, telepathy, telekinesis, awakening the dead, etc). Think of System Shock 2, or S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

In literature the list is endless. As fas as I know Lovecraft was the first who combined science fiction and magic, creating a completely new sub genre.

I stand corrected, if you can say my comment about "exactly sci-fi" was wrong

Perhaps what you mean is that it isn't "hard" science fiction.

That could indeed piss off some people, but it's not like the projects isn't 100% clear about that.

And as much as I personally love hard SF, I think it has no advantages when used in role playing games.

    New update #9:

I guess it's kind of cool to get both the composers on board but... never having played the SNES or Genesis games this doesn't exactly make me jump for joy. I would have liked more GAME INFO but I am looking forward to this game even with no Shadowrun history at all.

Why don't you play the snes or the genesis version to get a better feeling about shadowrun? At least the genesis version is easy to run on an emulator. What I read so far I think the game will be very similar to this two games except with tb combat instead of rt.
And you could look into some pen&paper shadowrun books.

I'm sure I'll get around to it. I've just been occupied with Grimrock and replaying Wasteland recently.
