The Shadowrun: Hong Kong Kickstarter campaign has concluded, with a final tally of $1,204,726 raised from 31,497 backers (plus $3000 from our fundraiser!). It's an impressive achievement for what was ultimately a fairly low effort campaign, which bodes well for future initiatives from other RPG developers who have used Kickstarter before. In a celebratory Kickstarter update, Jordan Weisman and Mitch Gitelman thank the backers one last time:

Now here's an interesting question: Will Hong Kong's concurrent players beat D:OS and Wasteland 2 like DMS did?

I haven't even purchased DMS or DF yet, and backed this a couple of days before the campaign ended. I don't know much about Shadowrun setting, 'cept for tech and elves and "corporations have more power than the government , I never asked for this". Which is great. I am sure as hell excited to play all three at some point during the year.

I didn't actually expect the Kickstarter to be this successful - very impressive stuff! :greatjob:

Now if we could only get more people behind the Underworld Kickstarter as well... :P

I hope they improve the branching dialogue consequences in the game., Dragonfall was fine but still too hollow, too shallow.

Hit $1.2 million. I am surprised, but really pleased for them. Dragonfall was great but I think they can do even better.

Indeed. The potential is there...and it's almost deceptively so since the writing in general is so well-executed** you're left wondering where the RPG dialogue is until you realize it's just barely part of the game.

**and specifically the text in the transition/loading screens feels to me like a veteran DM giving you a fantastically nuanced setting to imagine.
