I gave the demo a whirl.

The game works well, has fully customisable controls, which is nice, as the defaults suck.
Graphics wise it's all right, isometric view, but with 360 deg rotatable camera. The character models are themselves typical hollywood clichés in presentation.
On the other hand, the animations are fluid and pretty good overall.
You can tone down the contour lines, but it still looks cartoony with this cell shading effect.

So far it's a rehash of Commandos/Desperados/Robin Hood - i.e. your typical green view cone game, with the same characters (fragile thief, tanky brawny guy, sniper - at least that what you got in demo).
The demo levels are very linear and short and leaning heavily on the story, but I guess those are supposed to work as tutorial levels in the main game. I'll laugh my ass of, if the guy that we meet just before talking to shogun will pull a sudden betrayal/will become the villain.

Overall it's pretty meh, but what can we do - replay Commandos/Desperados/Robin Hood for the n-th time?
Hell yes, we can. But like Morgoth said - I'll probably buy it with 50% discount, as their asking price (40 dorraru) is a little bit too much.

Oh, I'd forgot - the gameplay is not that bad, as the action trailers would have us believe.

Took long enough for someone to make another game in this genre. Seemed fine so far, that old puzzle/tactics vibe. Hope that it ramps up in the actual game, even though I understand it's a training level/demo. Don't expect Commandos 2/Desperados quality out the gate but who knows? Regardless I hope they sell enough to make this genre viable again!

Game seems very good. Crisp, consistent art style that makes seeing who is who very easy. Controls are sharp and the 3D rotations should open up a lot of gameplay possibilities. Japanese VA and the setting in general are solid. For games about sneaking, it now seems bizarre that this setting went untouched for so long. Just seems to be a perfect match. I liked how many stats it kept track of as well as little goals for you to try on second playthroughs/speedruns.

So this is what Daedalic's been doing.

I'm not averse towards Germans making a game set in medieval Wapan. It's similar to Wapan making a game using Germanic mythology (Valkyrie Profile, etc). It works out very well. They'll forever be bonded by the old Berlin-Tokyo-Rome Axis.

Just don't slamdunk another sequel.

It's made by an independent studio, they are the publisher.

Did anyone here play it yet? Worth 40 euro? Casual difficulty or actually hard like it should be?

Checked the first mission in the demo.

SHURIKENJUTSU!!!!

I want to have sex with this interface, it's so very convenient and properly adjusted. In fact, having recently played Desperados and enduring the godawful UI of that one, I want to have sex with this interface.

Apart from that, I can't really say a lot after the 1st mishun other than that it's way too ez, on a fundamental level not related to it being a 1st mission. Hayato-san being able to easily massacre duos of dudes with shuriken + stab, samurai guy with his 3-ppl-killer whirlwind - a commandos game really shouldn't let you achieve massive killing capacity that easy and without resource use.

Will keep playan 2nd mishun. Who knows, maybe I'll get the full version if I'm impressed.

Actually, fuck it, imma d1p this shit if only because I immensely appreciate:

1. Putting up a public demo with 2 full missions
2. Revisiting the Commandos formula and doing it properly.

Honestly I think its one of those shit situations that even if this game is terrible it is somewhat worth buying it since we are not likely to get more games in this genre if ones that get released end up selling badly.

Well, fwiw, based on the 2 missions in the demo, I wouldn't call this game terrible.

Well yeah, that was more of a hyperbole.
