This is why it should be turn based. Ah well.
Eh you can still practice limited pulling in turn-based games....

Let me rephrase: this is one of many reasons why it should be turn based.

I haven't played it yet, but to me that sounds strangely fantastic. For once, a town that doesn't have people flagging you down on every street corner telling you their life story and asking for you to take an active hand in all their personal issues.
That's does sound good on paper, but in reality traversing empty woods and seeing nameless NPCs is not that great in a game. But i am sure the pace will pick up soon.

Am I missing something? Am I supposed to spam those Healing Herb things at this point? I've also tried moving in another direction and avoiding areas that seem to contain these groups, thinking I'll level up a bit or find more equipment, but every direction seems to have one such group.
Draw aggro one by one... This bigger mob with wolves and foxes is not doable otherwise with lvl 1-2. EDIT: everyone and his dog beat me to it.

Level 1 spells will not help, most of the time. Goblin King seems very much like an optional encounter, I don't think he is normally intended to be dealt with early in the game. I cheesed that fight with traps. Like all my traps.
I did him at lvl 4 - one guy with AC 9-11 is unkillable by all the goblins.

Could some Codex's CUCKs reach out to InXile and Obsidian and ask them to twitter about this game :)

Grab the Codex by the pussy Codex USB, 2014 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Also if we talk specialzing... which spells are you guys using?

Wolf polymorph and summons on Nicholai, radiant and heal on the grave robber woman, and heal on the potion guy. Catalina is a dumb tank, I stole her occult stat anyway with the power of philosophy.

If anybody has a level two spell to recommend, I'll use it with the grave robber.

Blood Cocoon , Feverish Haze , Fearful light are my current top 3. Can talk for grade 2 and + . My 2 warrior type got Rally and War cry so the first 6 sec are a bit more crushing , thats only 1 crossbow shot and 1 weapon swing tho. Foul Creep and Heat metal seem nice enough , but i find myself healing or controling mob is working better for me than raw dmg, And heat metal only work on weapon wielding adversary. Only in the beginning , almost at lvl 3

Just spam cocoon all day, unlimited casting is fucked up. Literally don't need to rest or use hp consumables.

I want to be able to daisy chain Blood Cocoon across all five characters and just go AFK for a while in the middle of combat. How many ranks of Blood Cocoon will I need?

I'm still going to wait a while before giving it a playthrough. I have a few questions if anyone is willing:

The Frost Jackal speciality for the albino race gives you a noble crest. Is this a very rare thing? Does anyone recognise you're part of a house in dialogue? Because it seems like it's only a short temporary advantage and you'd be better off taking something else.

Scarcity of skill points- I'm hearing specialisation is key for combat. What about for world interactivity with the utility skills? How many of those could a single character realisitically focus on? I like to max as many of them as I can, hoping to stumble upon some synergy ala Age of Decadence.

Do NPC companions ever interject in dialogue? Do they ever say anything after you recruit them?

In a lot of RPGs conversation skills are only really relevant to the Main PC and are completely wasted on companions, is this the case here or can you consistently use your allies for dialogue?

Has anyone used the Nobility skill? How are you finding it? It seems like a bit of a wild card in combat, since it'd be completely useless against a horde of relatively weak opponents, but incredibly useful against a few powerful enemies.

I have not seen that crest as loot yet , and it seems so some characters don't even want to talk to you without. If you talk to a squire for exemple you can even ask him to fetch you some refreshment.
The npc says things sometimes to you but don't interject in dialogue so far. You have the choice to select who's stepping forward to talk in important conversation, like your party member with the best linguist skill when you encounter natives.so those skills aren't wasted on companions, it seems better to specialize .

In true Darklands fashion, make an extra avatar with it and get rid of them keeping the crest :^)

I think Hannah or Joe said you could get all the aptitudes maxxed if you wanted.

Yes, and yes. Don't know how in depth it gets though.

Edit: not sure about interjecting in dialog actually. They start dialogs with you.

From the first town

Some guy said there was something up with the well and told me if I figured out what was up with it, he'd send his son. I've been through that place and all I found were some Shroomers and Imps but he still has no more dialogue. What exactly was I suppose to find?

Is it just me or does the game not run in the background even though they claimed to turn the option on in Patch 4?

Right now it's kind of unplayable for me because of the "leisurely slow" walking pace if I can't alt-tab and do something else while my party chugs along at a sluggish pace when crossing from one end of a town to another

It doesn't.

Also I did some digging, trying to replace the pixelated fonts to something more readable, but it turns out the game actually renders in 400x300 (or something like that) and then gets upscaled... like actual old games... A questionable technical decision, basically precluding the possibility of readable fonts.

Deep in your subconscious mind spreading lies.
I already like this better than Eternity.
Yeah it basically does everything Josh wanted to do, except it does it in a way that doesn't break fun.

Also some of the dialog is and descriptions are awesome. Hand reading notes and books that actually matter and aren't just crappy fluff lore about places with weird names. So far no exposition dump, people you meet more less talk like people not information booths.

My main complaints for now is A.) Can't un-select a stat choice once you click on it. B.) Manual doesn't have a PDF version I can put on my ereader ffs, really annoying me.
