I remember him linking to that thread in some post/comment over at RPS.

I do agree with you. He does repeat himself. But what do you really expect from an old-school RPG fan posting at a place like Rock Paper Shotgun? He's not going to be able to write amazing thought provoking essays in every one of his posts. In fact, there's not really much to talk about. It's a genre in which numbers go up, basically. There's a reason why many discussions on the Codex turn into "What is an RPG?", because that is essentially all that is relevant. Your expectations are probably too high.

I don't know. Go sign up to RPS and PM him or something. Unlike Ed123, Infinitron and even Skyway, I can't be bothered to sign up there.

What if you chose the numbers at start but they would stay the same for the entire game?

There's missing a point on that list.

    6. Return the game to the store you bought it from and ask for a refund. Product did not perform as advertized (or at all).

Besides, the author of the article clearly doesn't know what he's talking about. Making this stuff work for a rush of millions isn't rocket science. It's a very simple problem, but one of scale. To facilitate all the sheep connecting for the first few days before some other advert catches their attention requires trafficing a huge amount of data -- further exacerbated by the sheep in queue continually trying to connect every 10 seconds. This could be easily managed by a sufficiently large amount of servers and fiber - and corresponding infrastructure cost - but only really necessary for the first few days. Since ActiBlizzion aren't going to invest in a lot of hardware that'll be unnecessary in a month (probably sooner given the game is only 6 hours long and the cash shop neatly sidesteps the desire for half the playerbase to grind for gear), they simply chose a maximum threshold for traffic on the login servers, and essentially bottleneck the entrance until everyone is eventually through.

TL;DR: It's not rocket science. Blizzard just can't be assed to provide the product they've sold to everyone who bought it for a couple of weeks yet.

He says it was for lols, but he can't hide that SA tendency of seeing racism whenever black and /or white is mentioned.
