Isn't Dragon Quest saga longer than Wizardry one? Surely more living and profitable (not to mention more people know DQ than Wizardry).

Nope, Dragon Quest's creator Yuji Horii is quite a fan of Wizardry, his first game has an easter egg to Wizardry.

In 1982 Enix sponsored a video game programming contest in Japan which brought much of the Dragon Quest team together, including creator Yuji Horii.[103] The prize was a trip to the United States and a visit to AppleFest '83 in San Francisco, where Horii discovered the Wizardry video game series.[9] The group then decided to make a role-playing video game that combined elements from the western RPGs Wizardry and Ultima.[Note 7][106] Horii used the full-screen map of Ultima and the battle and statistics-oriented Wizardry screens to create the gameplay of Dragon Quest.[9]

Horii's obsession with Wizardry was manifested as an easter egg in one of his earlier games, The Portopia Serial Murder Case in 1983. In a dungeon-crawling portion of that adventure game, a note on the wall reads "MONSTER SURPRISED YOU."

Day 10 is about to end in the megacorp-ruled erf. The corp execs are doubling and tripling themselves to understand how the fuck can a quartet of assholes completely bust their operations and still remain alive.

These assholes are:

YI7dz5.jpg

Banks, one of the original two. With melee KO and AP boosting augs, an AP3 tazer and a paralyzer, the only thing that can evade her zaps are guards with armour 5 or mainframe shields. Fortunately, she has a shock trap to cover that. Stim and cloak let her do various funky things, and the -1 item CD aug lets her do all that even more often. The neural dart gun is a seldom-used panic button, I wonder why am I even carrying it around anymore considering its shit KO time.

38TBxR.jpg

Draco is the other original agent. Ate so many people that he maxed all stats within 4 days, not spending a single penny on upgrades. He's the team's killer - handcannon and cooker + ventricular lance + heart monitor disabler let him take care of any scrublord guards with armour lower than 3 with just about no repercussions. For others, he has the same loadout as Banks, with the same paralyzer, tazer and + melee KO/AP augs, as well as predictive brawling on top cuz you gotta go fast. Buster chip is a must in those later days when you keep getting all your pwr sapped all the time by daemons.

TlmRyx.jpg

Internationale is the first git we managed to rescue. We got her at day 6, so she hasn't been around for very long. Her main task is running around and being a dick - paralyzing KO'd guards, dropping EMPs and buster chips on drones and safes and cameras, and transporting stims to other agents if need be. Her support role is completed by being the agency's storehouse (med gel + charge packs, them charge packs are really important for Draco's guns) and power farmer (wireless hacking and +1 pwr/turn aug). Still have to find a useful 3rd aug for her.

G89sGj.jpg

Decker we got just 2 missions ago, so his stuff is kind of all over the place, and he mostly doubles as a storehouse atm. Still, with a +1AP aug and an ap 2 tazer he can take a fag down, and the cloak + buster chip + emp charge + paralyzer give him a good enough support role. He'll need a better emp charge (this one's basic) and some more augment slots.

I think... I've become unstoppable. I can kill or KO entire levels of guards within 5 turns and then keep them all down on the ground for 10 +/-2 turns, safely looting everything I can and running towards the exit. Only drones pose a problem now, but I just avoid sankaku missions altogether so it doesn't matter.

I only wish I could finally find some ap2 non-pwr-eating tazers ffs because all the ones I have now run on power (banks's and draco's eat 2pwr/enemy AP, Decker's eats 5 always), which is a rather luxury commodity this late in the game.

Is this worth playing? Heard some good things about it, but I thought that was just people being hipsters and liking it purely because it was turn-based.

Before...

And after gauss gun treatment. Probably one of the most sane missions in American Revolt. You need to look out for soldiers with gauss guns and lasers, but that's a given. Mixing them up with Mini-Guns and Lasers is usually a good thing for the most missions.

6NYR1Yd.jpg

If there is one mission which I really hate is this one. After a couple of seconds all hell breaks loose and the guy which we need to escort is just chilling and walking to his destination . Talking about hard stoned guy. Took this screen because after one approach the enemy agent simply didn't attack me like the others. I didn't even had to grab the Minigun from the ground. This was one exception of the rule. For the rest of the game it was constant butchering by the enemy AI.

soj8lpG.jpg

Air Raids can really help in some cases, but here I was scared shitless when the enemy syndicate started playing with them and I had to escort the guy to safety. The north-west part of the map was still crawling with guards equipped with gauss guns and lasers.

aY7jjbV.jpg

I always try to save all my agents so I had to move quickly here and put the pressure on the crowd of agents. Luckilly they all seem to be working work Muslim syndicates because they always have time bombs with them. It's easy to be killed though when you are too near them and a blast is linked to a dozen of them.

p1Pikn3.jpg

A calm after blazing through the map. There is ENORMOUS numbers when it comes to the number of policemen and guards. They have cyber implants too, so they are not one shot targets for us. America here is one big police state where you have cops around every corner.

C0Lgc4Z.jpg

That was interesting mission. After the obvious attack from the agents I had to kill the rest of them near the wall on the right. They've destroyed one car near the start, but the other one was hidden not far from there. After seeing the guard near the gate I knew I had to use only one agent, because after the persuasion of the agent he would simply die off the blast from the burning car. The guard had the gauss gun... After (almost) killing me I heard the Air Raid signal. Holy shit, I barely made it. Killed all other ones with one agent, using gauss gun to kill those in building and baiting them to come near the walls. I used the car to evacuate the whole group and the persuaded agent.

sgTG4GF.jpg

Loved and hated that mission. Mixed groups, with long range weapons (who uses them anyway?), plus later on the gauss guns squads. DON"T remain in the open area or you will be just hearing the whistling sounds of rockets hitting your ass and legs instantly. After that purging the near building and streets full of punk guards equipped like it was Wolrd War 3. It takes time and patience to beat them all. I didn't use the bombing because I wanted to save some cash for later missions. Suffice to say, the assasination was successful.

a5anGZi.jpg

Thankfully in Colorado you don't have to kill those group of soldiers. They are most intelligent when it comes to aiming at your agents so shooting them before they can shoot you is the best strategy. Gauss guns and lasers, choose your poison. Destroying every armored car at the end was satisfying.

z5iJ3Js.jpg

Oh, look. It's that time again...

Evacuate mission. Or should I say EVACUTE RIGHT FUCKING NOW! because after a couple of seconds there are swarming agents while they use the Air Raids constantly and trying to set a trap for us. After doing that they bomb the train and we need to kill a dozen of guard at the evacuate site. They are very trigger happy.

zfb4UnL.jpg

Mission in Columbia. Already well prepared for this guys.

hD4tGaY.jpg

Mexico mission. After killing in a short time agents and guards I finally managed to use the Air Raid with extreme prejudice. The police car which wasn't destroyed, but it's driver has been turned into a crispy corpse is hard to get when you have armored military car in between to have a clear shot. After a two or three times I finally found the perfect timing for it. There were many civillian casualties, but they sacrifice was not in vain.

xNe1TTU.jpg

Massive number of agents. After a couple of second BOMBING starts. If you think it's over than I have bad news for you. More of them is on the north, and they have guards for help.

Cik4maz.jpg

The longest mission I think. After the attack in the open by gauss gun squadrons you need to find the medikit in one hangar. Then, you need to persuade one guy who is guarded here. Took some of them with flamethrower through gate, moved with one agent and cleared both sides of the pavements. But of course this isn't over...

TIqq10z.jpg

:negative:

You need to be careful here. This one civillian must remain alive while you try to eradicate the guards. They are attracted to you like feral dogs to a little bunny so be careful because they have all LASERS and you will be a burning corpse within a seconds if you don't have an upper hand. I've used gauss gun explosion to kill some of them on the upper level. Be careful and search the north upper wall and be sure to have disposed all of them before trying to kill the rest. Laser is the only option left. Thankfully, I killed at the entrance most of the guys with Miniguns so I needn't have to worry. After grabbing him you must of course get out of the facility and move south east. While during this trip there is more guards around every corner. If you beat it, then congratulations. Because we can try to beat the final level....

Gauss Guns all the way baby. They not only have the blast ability but the proper rocket can burn a couple meters of the ground and that is important since the enemy agents here are swarming the place like crazy in a big groups. Unkillable Cat was right about the placing of the agents. It's like a bullshit puzzle where there is only one solution. Most of the missions have such elements, when you approach them at first time you simply won't finish them. Two of my agents burned at the end, the pressure was simply to big. I had luck on my side though, the 3rd and 4th saved the day with massive blasts at the groups which concentrated on killing my soldiers.

And now excuse me while I celebrate finishing the 21 missions of constant rape. American style.

Kurwa!

:bro: (Since my regular one is broken)

Do you know what you've done? You've matched a record held by one guy (a school teacher, to boot) for 21 years. That record has been uncontested before now (or I haven't found anyone else that did pull it off), so you deserve more than just a pat on the back.

If I was a jerk I'd tell you to go beat Syndicate Wars, but everyone I know (myself included) walked away from that one, so no need to go overboard. Once I did play that game and godmoded myself to the final mission. 0.5 seconds after mission start I got hit by an orbital bombardment ray (cause air strikes weren't good enough for the sequel, it seems), and would constantly be attacked by it if I stood still for more than about 0.7 seconds.

To everyone else reading this, brofist the post above this one!

:updatedmytxt:

After so many years of waiting I finally made through AR with a bonus achievement it seems. I didn't know there was some record about this data disk.
Bullfrog had this policy during the early years when the successful game --> expansion pack was a standard policy. Lost Worlds for Magic Carpet, Deeper Dungeons for Dungeon Keeper. I wish there was something for Magic Carpet 2, it had simple and nice leveling of the spells.

I still like STSC2 more then STSC3. Wining depends allot more on luck. I just spent 3 hours and 4 reloads to do 2 missions, in STSC3 i would probably need 30min for it.

Eh, this is promissing.

Oh, you...

Now seriously, I'll probably drop due to the seasick feeling. Not a case of low FOV (like RE4), but I can only tolerate a few minutes of the ship wobbling. And after stop playing the effect still persists for a few hours. I remember playing years ago a similar game called Cold Fear or something. Managed to finish it but could only play in half hours at the most.
Is the game long? Is it only on the ship?

It's not entirely based on the ship, and although you have other sections there, the swinging motion wasn't there (or wasn't as noticeable as before... or perhaps I just ignored it).
But you should do it for dat ass.
