PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I found Ao Oni to be spooky even though it's a rpgmaker game.

Cry of Fear deserves a mention too, even if just to replace the clearly not horror games in that list.

Unrelated to their Top 25, but I can't be the only one here that when playing Stalker I was resting to make sure I travel/explore in day time, because doing that stuff at night was scary as fuck. Also after I completed a missions and it was night, I made my way quickly as possible to a safe place. Not to mention the underground laboratories missions were a jump scare experience for me.
I don't play horror games, so I can't really compare Stalker to this genre, but c'mon now this game had some proper "horror" elements in it.

At least Scratches made the list though at a bullshit position. No Barrow Hill? Darkness Within? Clive Barker's Undying? Dark Fall series? Silent Hill 3? REALMS OF THE HAUNTING?

SS2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dead Space >> Thief >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Everything else.

Edit: Thief and Dead Space can reverse places.

Dead Space,really?

Cheap scares and grotesque monsters, that's about. Plus, gameplay is pretty horrendous

Where is Shadow of the Comet?
Phantasmagoria?
Space Hulk: VOTBA?
Alone in the Dark 1/2 (inventor of whole survival horror genre)?
Why there is Resident Evil 4 insted of 1/Remake?

Cheap scares - not really. There were a couple of instances where you had to QTE some shit but that's about it. It is nowhere near Doom or Fear or the other existing shit.

Grotesque monsters - this is actually a plus. Necromorphs were actually scary.

Gameplay was good - it's a slow over-the-shoulder shooter but the accent was put on aim instead of looking for covers. Not stellar but definitely not horrendous.

Add atmosphere, good level design and an interesting story (up to one point). The game was ok. Then everything went to shit in the sequels.

By the way, Dying Light and Metro 2xxx are missing from the list. Maybe even Sanitarium.

Terrible, random clickbait RPS list, news at 11.

No Alone in the Dark is the icing on the cake.

Stalker remains the only game which made me feel uncomfortably scared. The rest of those have plenty of tense moments and situations but none are truly "scary" for me.

Shamelessly reposting my response to the last RPS list abortion and just changing the numbers around. It's just too easy.

I take great pleasure in seeing RPS debase itself with stupid clickbait lists, with such appealing inclusions such as #7 - entry that doesn't actually seem to belong to the list in question, #4 - deeply flawed divisive entry that mysteriously ends up near the top of the list , #1 & #19 - sequels that by any account are not as representative as the first in the series, #13 - highly influential classic that we're putting in the bottom half because fuck you, and of course who could forget entry #XX - obvious shit that didn't make the list which you'll feel compelled to point out.

Make sure you click the article, comment, and then click back to respond to the hivemend shitting on you because your ideas are holding gaming back, and then click back again, and so on, and so forth...

Depends how you are disturbed by body horror, I can watch any possession, monster, spirit movie out there and don't think it is scary but The Thing still disturbs me to this day.
