The rpgcodex used to be pro-rpg. Now they are pro Asian console games. Rpgs cannot be discussed here in any productive or meaningful way. E.g. - This review, any thread on a real rpg made primarily for the PC such as WL2, PoE, Tyranny, etc. Compare this to the love every game gets in the Asian forum and even you fucking brainiacs should see a stark difference.
So you admit you went to the "asian console" forum, often enough to be able to compare the reception of those games vs "western" rpgs. Why would you even go there, if you're not an anti-rpg console-lover retard? Retard.

There's a reason the subforums are separate.

P.S. Numenera is a console game.

You keep saying stupid shit like it is some sort of master stroke and you got me but good. It is weird and unseemly and makes you look really dumb. Of course, the other people posting here are really dumb so they are probably going, "Yeah! good one!"

Torment was designed for the PC. It plays perfectly on the PC, has a real PC GUI and controls. Everything can be mapped or remapped. There doesn't have to be a UI patch that makes it less complete shit but still mostly complete shit on the PC like console games such as all of them from Kotor to all the new fake fallouts.

If people can't tell the difference between a game designed for the console and a game designed for the PC in two seconds they are so retarded they somehow make the rpgcodex community look smart.

Your points articulate my core point. If this site was about wine, you guys are occasional drinkers of Boones and some other shit wine. Whereas I am a wine connoisseur and only drink wine and know all about wine. You guys are tourists and have no place when it comes to any worthwhile discussion about wine.

You are the wine expert (or any other expert) only when others call you to judge the wine and they value your opinion above others. Self proclaimed wine expert is like self proclaimed sex expert, everybody thinks they are good at it.
Kid just watch Game of thrones or go to prosper:
"Joffrey Baratheon: I am the king! I will punish you!
Tywin Lannister: Any man who must say, "I am the king" is no true king. I'll make sure you understand that when I've won your war for you."

Are you claiming to be an rpg expert? Or are you saying sites about wine being infested with tourists who know shit about wine is normal? What value does that site have?

While I think you're right on the merits, citing a television adaption of a fantastical character written by this guy for proof of what constitutes authority is a pretty dramatic ad verecundiam fallacy. Next thing, Roqua's going to quote back Mel Gibson saying, "I am William Wallace" as counter-proof...

[EDIT: Holy mackerel, under the Tywin Lannister rule, would that make William Wallace (wait for it) no true Scotsman?]

This is coming from the same community that harassed InXile employees and tried to sabotage this game for ages now...

nambulous 15 Mar @ 7:20am
Though, their community is actually viler than Breitbart. Is this truly possible? :P

Nifft 15 Mar @ 7:24am
Sadly, yes. It is very much possible.
Just take a look at the language in their Gamergate megathread...

Honestly inxile should just ban the codex from any future reviews or press events. These people are vindictive and just out for revenge against a percieved slight.

nakoda
You can't ban an organisation from doing reviews, regrettably.

:hmmm:

Codexers are nitpickers and experts in RP systems rather than haters.
If you create a great RPG, they will sing your praises.
If you create a bad or lazy RPG, they WILL call you out on it, oh boy.

I haven't ever felt that their reviews were unfair. I might have disagreed, but never because of unfairness or lazy arguments.

And of course it must be said that there is no one RPG Codex opinion. Many people have many opinions. But they are forged in the heat of heavy-hitting, and yes - often politically incorrect and heated - discussions. But if your opinion comes out unscathed and well defended, you know you have something solid.

Or that a bunch of white boys with Aryan aspirations yelled at you for a couple of hours based on poorly defined criteria using the sort of hyperbole most typically associated with schizophrenic fever dreams.

You know.

One or the other.

This thread is starting to get into flaming and trolling territory pretty quick. We do like that people are expressing their opinions, but when it gets into personal attacks, or attacks on specific gaming communities (whether for or against), it's fair to say things have probably run their course. Let's keep the discussion about the game and not people's political views or perceived mental health issues, please.

THREAD LOCKED

"We don't like speech where people:

  • Attack certain gaming communities(until things have run their course).
  • Defend on behalf Attack for certain communities."

I am citing a pretty well written character, who wrote it or its attitude it is a non sequitur.

PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Judge Dredd is also well written.
isnt that the comic where they ran out of things to write because the writers killed off 95% of the population with several consecutive apocalypse level events over the span of a few decades

I ran out of spite. :(
I guess there's not so much to talk about anymore. Sales also degraded to zero after stabilizing at 100k according to steamspy. I suspect some outrage when the backer boxes finally hit (in a few months) and turn out to be chinese-made horseshit, in the meantime some outrage at patches not addressing important issues and then the final wave of outrage at the release of DC.

In the meantime in my xxth playthrough of Planescape: Torment I've gone to Curst and the look of this city makes me want to stop. I'll endure though, and in enduring grow stronger. Mobs won't be so horrible this time, with a Fighter TNO...

RPG Watch's review of ToN

Pros
  • A Spiritual Successor to PS:T
  • Great Atmosphere and Setting
  • Tons of varied and interesting quests
  • Heaps to explore and discover
  • Well written and dialogue based
Cons
  • Relatively short (about 30 hours)
  • Walls of text for those who don't like that
  • Limited combat opportunities
  • Character interactions are lacking
  • Steep learning curve for some

Nordom is a answer on all your questions. He was main damage-dealer.
I have Nordom, but I'm playing with Qwinn's mods that make monsters charge at me, so kiting is not so easy to do.

Well, it is not much about kiting, but flow of damage that Nordom can deal with proper equipment. I'm sure I heard his "Maximum efficient strike" every second shot.

Don't give up - Curst has an incredible wrap up.

If you already got Vhailor set him and Dak'kon to hold off the mobs and have Nordom, FFG and/or you if you are a mage storm them to shreds. Have Annah hit and run at them with her hilariously powerful criticals and you're set. If you're a fighter then the ranged guys are even safer.
