If people want an inclusive list, I have a suggestion for you

Indie games should get a bonus, because often these are one-man efforts.
I disagree. Games should be included depending on how good they are.

Of course they should have good gameplay, but you can't compare the production value of The Witcher 2 with Knights of the Chalice for example.
So they should get a little bonus. Indies need some more support to get known out there, too. BTW: Good suggestion...

The Witcher is a good game and should be on the list.
Go back to the Watch, phag-mo. Witcher is not a good game.

You're all welcome to do a Codex Diversity Squad (or some other splinter group) list. But keep your shitty popamole vices off of the prestigious Kodex Kurator Kollection. I like Borderlands but I'm not going to suggest that shit belong on the list.

Insert clever insult here
I think that is his point.

And I agree that our list should showcase obscure RPG's even if they aren't GOTY/D/C material, just because it's highly likely that no-one else is.

You are aware that every entry in the Watch-list is done by myself? :P
Is that a rhetorical question? Is this a rhetorical question? N-e-wayz, I'm assuming the point of the Codex list is to keep things -- for lack of a better word -- 'tight.' You throw popularized popamole like Witcher on there and you might as well open the floodgates.

A game can still be a good game even if many people play it.

Popamole games are games with very simple gameplay and NOT all popular games.

Popamole games are games with very simple gameplay ...

Are you saying the Witcher series has complex gameplay? As much as I'm unsure about the inclusion of Derp Souls 1 and 2 on the list the gameplay of those games blows Witcher out of the water. The only solid part of Witcher 1 was the murder investigation because it was reliant on your particular skills, clues you found, and books you read. The combat, of course, is laughably simple. Witcher 2 I didn't make it very far past the QTE fest that was the first boss. Interesting story but awful combat and pointless Derpablo style looting.

There are some grades in between complex and very simple...

That said the Watch list is indeed not focused on hardcore CRPGs only. We have a user base with many different tastes. So I include all games that are fun to play, classic indie and top rated CRPGs, some hybrids and a few adventures, strategy games and space sims as well. Indies get a slight bonus.

You're... comparing narrative complexity to... I... I quit.

You're literally comparing a game that has a billion movesets and combat options to--

My God. Do you realize what you are doing? You're comparing a cheetah to a tortoise and complaining the cheetah doesn't have enough of a shell.

Re: The Witcher

I actually like the Witcher games, but, well, from a Codexian standpoint, they're kind of like Alpha Protocol. Poorly designed and rather popamole, but with some redeeming value. The difference is, I don't think The Witcher has enough redeeming value (although it does have some).

I haven't even looked at the list. Is Arcanum on it?

Arcanum is not in Steam's database, so no.

Look bitches, I hate the fucking Witcher and I'd rather be bathing in Dark Souls semen than touch that POS again, but I really would have no problem with it being on this dumb-ass list and I really don't see why this stupid list is such a big deal in the first place; also no matter what is or isn't on the fucking list, people will cry, either this camp or that camp; whatever. Just live in harmony, brothers.

Here, let's do this the easy way:

Was it in the Top Recommended RPG List we made? Yes? Then put it in this list, no matter if it was Dark Souls, Witcher or even fucking DA:O (Which I also hate).
