Please tell me you're drunk, adddeed.
Gothic series (you know the 2 games that does exist) >>>>> Risen series

other good RPGs>=G2>G1>>>R1>>>>>>>>>>>>>(G3=R3>R2)never cross that barrier>hardly possible to achieve
But I think we are all the same opinion, that you should play G1, G2 and R1 but avoid G3, R2 and R3.

No, anyone who enjoys Gothic or Risen should play all the sequels too. Yes they have some flaws, but so do Gothic 1 or 2.

And please name another 3rd/1st person RPG that can come close to Gothic or Risen. That's right, you cant.

Kinda nailed it, there. G1/2, and R1/2, have that "quid", that "feeling" that we all love and that no other developer has managed to either capture or convey.

Do you mean a game similar to Gothic 2 (open world with factions and so on; there's FNV) or just a good game in 1st/3rd person? (there's a lot of games)

I liked beginning of Risen too. They solved problems of overpowered gear by "Patty has been pissed and threw your clothese out of ship's window. And you were supposed to be in incognito anyway."

The main problem was islands were small, and of course the easy mode of flintlock guns path.

Nevermind that the clothes she threw away were from a completely different time period and location and , hell a different universe, from R1. It's really hard to enjoy anything that starts out so jarringly that the main character has become a one-eyed boozer and we never saw it happen to him. Risen series is like if your creepy neighbor saw you playing with toys, then decided he would modify them to make them more fun, but he instead cut the G.I. Joes into little pieces and made all the springloaded guns fire way too hard.

But Risen/Gothic aint fun if youre not a piece of shit in the beginning who has to eat dirt and run for his life all the time. Those games are all about rising out of the dirt and becoming someone capable of fucking shit up, we have enough rpgs that tell stories about heros who already start out being that.

Kinda amazing people even managed to go through this shitgame.

Even the first few minutes of the game made you realize what kind of shits worked at the game. The most obvious being how fucking retarded the sisters clothes were and how immersion breaking that kind of 9 year old design choice was.

I mean, I like my woman in the kitchen like every other normal person, but that shit wouldn't even have been good enough for the Pirates of the Caribbean porn parody.

The remaster no one ever asked for.
Most PS4 gamers will probably just shit copiously over this, labeling it as "worthless eurojank".
Well, no, most of those who'll know about it, actually. The overwhelming majority simply won't.

EDIT: also, I love how they structured the trailer to suggest a long list of new features and then they stopped it abruptly at the second entry.

"- ALL THE DLCs!
- Enhanced graphics!
- ...

Aaand that's it actually."

It is seriously depressing to see PB going from making NotR to desperately trying to polish turds for consoles.

I bought Risen 3 in the steam sale yesterday and noticed that it for some reason came with all DLC. I didn't think much of it and just started playing the game.
Today when I start the game the DLC has disappeared. No big deal, I didn't really care about it anyway. But now I can't load my save since it's a DLC save and I either have to start over with that shitty tutorial which I'd rather not play or buy the DLC for full price. Thanks a lot Deep Silver / Piranha Bytes.

Is there any way to unlock the DLC with a console command like in Risen 2 or did they wisen up about that this time? I'd rather drop the game for the time being than play the tutorial again.

refund it

Just done that.

Risen 2 was a huge decline over Risen, but it was ok.

Risen 3 though... I've only played the first few minutes and it felt like a kick in the balls. Requested a refund for the £5 I spent.

Yeah, I might just get a refund. I've played over 2 hours, which is the maximum allowed for a refund but with the DLC shenanigans they might let that slide.

I thought the consensus was that Risen 3 was slightly better than 2 but based on what I've played of 3 it definitely didn't feel like it. Maybe my mind has somehow twisted my memories of Risen 2 combat but they combat in 3 seems worse. Maybe it gets better further on.

It starts worse, it gets somewhat better midway, then its flaws (like being essentially able to exploit the entire game using companions and the atrocious lack of variety in the long run) star becoming once again more and more apparent after a while and by the end you'll probably be absolutely bored of it.

Oh, and I liked the MC and companions even less than in R2.
Anyway, tried this update yesterday since was out on PC too and I swear I couldn't tell where these "improvements" exactly should be even if my life depended on it.
