Dream on, bro. This is going to be another cutscene and QTE filled AAAAAAA third-person corridor cover shooter with billion dollars spent on next gen hair physics and five dollars spent on game mechanics.

Your ignore list.
Microsoft announces that the first DLC pack for Rise of the Tomb Raider, a challenging new experience called Endurance Mode, is available to download now.

The DLC is called Endurance Mode. It includes the titular new game mode, Endurance Mode, as well as a new outfit and weapon for Lara to utilize in her adventure.

The goal of Endurance Mode is to survive as long as possible in the harsh wilderness that players should be familiar with from playing through the story. Endurance Mode increases the difficulty by making the survival experience more realistic. For example, to start a fire, Lara first has to collect fuel, and if she doesn’t have a fire, she will die from hypothermia.

Furthermore, if Lara takes damage in Endurance Mode, her health will not regenerate. On the contrary, the only way to heal Lara in Endurance Mode is to eat food, which must be hunted. Players will be starting Endurance Mode with virtually nothing at their disposal, and must utilize the game’s crafting system effectively in order to succeed.

Look at that whole arm, more like. What's happening with animators and model designers?

So now you have to pay 10 bucks to disable auto regen? Incline, I guess.

I didn't like the 2013 reboot. That shit was too long for its own good.

If this one runs as well as it then I'll give it a try.

PC release date = January 28.

I enjoyed the last game even though it didn't much resemble the previous games I'd played in the series. Looking forward to giving this a whirl.

It was like 10 hours long, that's how long AAA games are these days (excluding sandbox games with inflated content).
the game should have ended once Lara climbed that long ass tower in the beginning and the plane that came to save her crashed. Everything afterwards was really just stretching the game and trolling.

Did Microsoft really pay for an exclusivity period of just a few months? That's pretty sad considering it also released on the same day as Fallout 4, so a lot of people who might have bought it on release day would have opted for Fallout. The XBone really can't catch a break.

Supposedly Microsoft also covered a part of the overall dev cost as a part of the exclusivity deal.

But who would have thought that releasing a sequel to a over hyped, yet poorly selling game. That failed to reach its admittedly unrealistic sales expectations on 3 systems. Exclusively on one of the worst selling consoles of the current generation. On the same day as one of, if not, the most anticipated titles of the year would turn out so badly?

IIRC it was going to be one full year between the xbone release and the pc release, so something didn't went according to the plans.

Microsoft not establishing Tomb Raider as their own Uncharted is what went wrong.

It sold 6 million iirc but that includes the "definitive edition" released on PS4 and Xbone. Buuut most of the sale were on Playstation consoles. So chances are that half of those sales are from suckers who bought the game twice.

Isn't 3-6 million sales pretty good? It's just that this retarded industry is constantly wasting money on hair physics, new graphics engines etc. even though 99,99% of consumers don't give a single fuck about those. They could literally make the next three Tomb Raider game with the same engine and graphics with tiny, if any, improvements and almost nobody would mind. However, dev costs would probably be a lot smaller so the games didn't need to sell 10 millions copies just to be profitable.

Square said that around 3 millions at release was disappointment to them. Probably thanks to long development time (at first game was supposed to be more about survival with monkey companion). Rise looks like more of the same or deal with Microsoft was pretty good.

Why does Lara look so concerned? She killed a small army in the last game.
No matter how many people you've killed before, none of it matters if you fall off a mountain or into a bottomless pit.
