PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Having launched my first ship, I immediately rerolled because I am addicted to this game (52 hours in 5 days). The white transparent squares are just planning markers and have no impact on the game.

This is the story of the colony Codex.

20170114010834_1.jpg

After some kind of catastrophic accident, a colony ship exploded. Three escape pods landed in a boreal forest on the northern hemisphere of an unnamed planet inhabited by tribals, pirates and maneating fauna.
20170114024302_1.jpg

The three colonists are alkeides 2.0, Accept and Night Goat. A female husky named Max is also there. It's spring, so the weather is a bit chilly. The three colonists immediately begin hauling their emergency supplies into a wooden shack with a roof. To the north and east, a rocky mountain perfect for digging into. To the south and west are bogs. The bogs take a long time to walk through, which can be a good or bad thing. The three of them must work together if wish to survive the harsh alpine environment.

It is the 12th of spring, year 5500 (Day 1)

Alkeides, male

Childhood
Aspergers rebel: Alkeides grew up as a rebel on a formerly-advanced rimworld devastated by war. His Aspergers syndrome meant he struggled with social situations and was incapable of caring, but he learned hard skills like research and shooting very quickly. Shooting +2 Social -3 Research +5

Adulthood
Hedge fund manager: A top hedge fund manager on a teeming urbworld, Alkeides's portfolio grew rapidly as he charmed clients with a sweet voice and devious intent. When the deal turned out to be too good to be true, he was forced to flee the planet with a bounty on his head. As he travelled the stars he found a passion in the arts, making masterpieces fit for high society customers. Social +4 Construction -2 Growing -2 Artistic +7 Research +3

Traits
Industrious: Alkeides has an easy time staying on task and focused, and gets things done much faster than the average person. Global work speed +35%
Ascetic: Alkeides perfers to live in asceticism. He will be put in a poor mood if he has a bedroom that's too impressive. He also dislikes fancy food and prefers to eat raw - and raw food won't bother him a bit.
Steadfast: Alkeides is mentally tough and won't break down under stresses that would crack most people. Mental break threshold -9%

Stats
Alkeides has 'professional' level skills in melee combat. He is also skilled in mining, art, crafting and research. He is incapable of plant work and medicine.
Night Goat, male

Childhood
Blacksmith's son: Goat's father owned the blacksmith shop in a run-down old city district. Goat woudl help his father whenever he could. Later, his father took him as a blacksmith's apprentice and raised him as a man. Goat also took on shooting as a hobby. +3 Shooting +3 Construction -3 Artistic +3 Crafting

Adulthood
Blacksmith shooter: As a young blacksmith, Goat's family w as raided by the police. He shot two officers before they knocked him out and arrested him. Sentenced to life in prison, Goat learned about traveling and raiding from other criminals. Shooting +5 Construction +3 Crafting +3 Research disabled

Traits
Too Smart: Goat is too smart for his own good. He learns everything much faster than everyone, but can be quite eccentric. Global learning factor +80% Mental break threshold +12%
Careful Shooter: Goat is a pretty good shot but he needs more time to focus on his target. Shooting +3 Aiming time +25% Shooting accuracy +50%
Hard Worker: Goat is a natural hard worker and will finish tasks faster than most. Global work speed +20%

Stats
Night goat is a extremely skilled marskman, and an expert in construction and mining. He is also a decent cook. However, he is incapable of research and totally useless in melee and art.

Accept, male

Childhood

Farm Kid: Accept grew up on his family's beef farm. He enjoyed working the fields and taking care of animals. Medicine +2 Growing +3 Crafting +2

Adulthood
Herbalist: Accept lived in a forest near a village. Though many of the villagers feared him, sick villagers would come to him to purchase salves and poultices made from the herbs he grew in his garden. He was happy to help them - for a price. -2 social +4 Medicine +4 Growing

Traits
Fast Walker: Accept likes to be where he's going. He walks quicker than most people. Movespeed +0.2 tiles per second
Trigger Happy: Pew! Pew! Pew! Accept is a terrible shot, but he doesn't care because guns are awesome! Shooting -2 Aiming time -50% Shooting accuracy -50%
Prosthophile: Accept feels limited in his feeble human body. He often dreams of going bionic.

Stats
Accept is a terrible shot and even worse melee combatant. He has a passion for medicine and is very good at growing crops and other physical labor. Because of his high medicine skill, he will be the one treating any injuries.

Day 4:

Having exhausted most of their food supply, the trio begin to mine tunnels into the side of the mountain to larp as dwarfs. Night Goat seems to be in pain all the time due to scarring from an old wound on his torso. The heavy labor of mining along with the chronic pain is taking a toll on his already fragile psyche. On the other hand, Alkeides is content with sleeping on the floor and eating raw food and spends his free time meditating.

20170114025433_1.jpg

Day 6:

A wanderer named Mustawd has joined the party. Having more hands would be a good thing, or so the trio believed.

It turns out that Mustawd is a liberal arts major and incapable of any kind of physical activity. Not only that, but Mustawd is also useless for every single skill except for art (strong expertise). That's great, but you can't eat paintings.

20170114030623_1.jpg

The burden on the three colonists has increased. Now they must feed another mouth.

Day 7:

Early in the morning, Alkeides is awoken by the sound of something burning. Outside, Mustawd is lighting trees on fire. Nobody knows where she got the lighter from. Alkeides rushes over to stomp the fire out, but Mustawd moves to another location to light a fire. If the wooden storage area caught on fire, it would be a disaster.

20170114030917_1.jpg

Trying his best, Alkeides continues to extinguish the fires that Mustawd has set.

20170114031331_1.jpg

Mustawd attempts to light the storage area on fire. Only when Alkeides begins to beat her does she come to her senses. It turns out that Mustawd has the Pyromaniac trait. When stressed, she will light fires wherever she goes. The trio have a short discussion and decide that there is only one thing they can do.

20170114031556_1.jpg

Mustawd is lined against the wall. Accept and Goat take aim and fire.

20170114031619_1.jpg

It is a messy execution. The shots do not instantly kill Mustawd and she squirms on the ground in shock from the extreme pain. Accept comes closer to finish her off but misses half his shots, hitting more non-vital areas. After an hour, Mustawd dies of blood loss. "It had to be this way" they said. Although relieved that there are no more fires, the three are shaken over having to execute another human.

20170114031749_1.jpg

Alkeides strips the corpse of Mustawd and buries her in a shallow grave just outside the front door. It had to be this way.

Day 8:

Another day on the edge of starvation. A crude dining room, storage area and kitchen has been set up. For the first time, they sleep in proper beds. Night Goats chronic pain continues to bother him. Outside, Max the dog is killing squirrels to eat. Unlike humans, dogs are fine with eating raw meat. Must be nice.

Day 10:

After 'that incident', the situation has stabilized somewhat. Summer is here and the rice planted outside is almost ready to be harvested. Night Goat cooks meals while Alkeides mines and Accept hunts for meat. Accept enjoys hunting, but it takes him hours to kill anything because of his awful aim. He brings back a caribou carcass with 15 bullets lodged in it. Accept is somewhat content, but his body dysphoria is something he will have to deal with until he can afford a bionic limb replacement someday in the far future.

20170114034347_1.jpg

Later that evening a caravan stops by. Friendly traders from a colony four days away across the desert have come to trade goods. There isn't much to offer, besides the late Mustawds clothing, but it's enough to pay for essential goods. Essential goods means lots of drugs. Alkeides hauls in a stack of beer and a 'medicine' called wake-up.

20170114034902_1.jpg

That night, for the first time, all three are in good spirits, drinking beer, talking and then falling asleep.

20170114035016_1.jpg

Day 11:

A wanderer named aeternalis has joined the party.

Aeternalis, Female

Childhood
Blessed child: Aeternalis was born under auspicious circumstances to a midworld spiritual group and held in reverence throughout his/her childhood. She learned to take care of the poor and give succor to the faithful from an early age. +3 Social +2 Medicine +1 Art

Adulthood
Wandering healer: Aeternalis studied to be a doctor, but was dissatisfied with her practice on an otherwise peaceful midworld. Instead, she chose to pull up roots and travel to the rimworlds in order to care for people who needed her most +3 Social +7 Medicine +2 Cooking -1 Construction -1 Mining

Traits
Neurotic: Aeternalis likes to have things squared away. She will work harder than most to attain this state of affairs, but her nerves can get the better of her. Global work speed +20%, Mental break threshold +8%
Industrious: Aeternalis has an easy time staying on task and focused, and gets things done much faster than the average person. Global work speed +35%
Teetotaler: Aeternalis abhors the idea of ganining pleasure from chemicals, and avoids alcohol and other pleasurable drugs.

Stats
Aeternalis is a very good negotiator and likes to cheer up others. She has the highest medicine skill of any colonist and is decent at most practical tasks like growing or construction. Aeternalis is a pacifist, so she is incapable of hunting and combat.

Although she will not be able to defend herself, the colony welcomes a skilled doctor and negotiator. Her combination of Neurotic and Industrious makes her an extremely fast worker, which is important as a medic when time is crucial.

Max (dog) has bonded with Night Goat and now follows him around. Night Goat is pleased with this, which slightly offsets his mood penalty from chronic pain.

Day 15:

A wanderer named tuluse is fleeing from a band of tribals. Tuluse makes it safely to the front door as Accept provides (ineffective) covering fire. Two tribals armed with clubs and throwing spears attempt to get into the base but are slowed down by the bog. Stuck in the bog and without cover, they are quickly dispatched by the expert marksman Night Goat. Aeternalis tends to the rice harvest while Alkeides and Accept start mining out new rooms to accommodate for the new colonist. Summer is nearing an end, so stockpiling food before the snow begins is imperative. Accept finished building a solar panel next to the front door. The colony is ecstatic that they no longer have to work in total darkness.

Tuluse, Female

Childhood
Child star: Tuluse was well-known throughout her homeworld as a child actor in films and TV shows. Her fame put her in contact with many different kinds of people, but also tended to get in the way of her education. +3 Social +3 Artistic -2 Research

Adulthood
Taster: As the taster for a medieval king, any dish served at the royal table had to be sampled f irst by Tuluse. She lived a decadent lifestyle at court, getting fat and doing very little work. +7 Cooking -4 Construction -4 Crafting

Traits
Pessimist: Tuluse tends to look on the bad side of life. Permanent mood effect -6
Chemical fascination: Tuluse has an intense fascination with chemical sources of enjoyment. She will consume much more of them, and will sometimes go on hard drug binges. She will ignore directives not to use pleasurable drugs.

Stats
Tuluse is awful at combat but can at least aim in the general direction of the enemy, she is also incompetent at construction and crafting but is surprisingly OK at mining and is a professional level cook. She likes animals but has no talent in taking care of them.

Looking at her stats, the possibility of summary execution briefly crosses the minds of the four colonists. Tuluse could cause problems, and they have no way of taking care of a drug addicted ex-child star Macaulay Culkin. Tuluse goes into the kitchen and begins to cook some high quality meals. After eating, the colonists decide to welcome her into the party.

Day 17:

Yet another raid. Four tribals. Night Goat only had time to dispatch two and wound the others in the bogs and had to retreat indoors. The raiders couldn't open the front door and gave up and destroyed the solar panel before collapsing from blood loss. Alkeides goes outside, slits their throats and buries them. Aeternalis tends to Night Goats wounds and he makes a full recovery within a day.

Day 18:

A heat wave has struck right before the end of summer. Outside is a sweltering 45 degrees and inside isn't that much better. Without electricity, the air conditioning stops working, and every colonist is irritated. Alkeides and Aerternalis bump heads trying to pick the same thing up and a fight breaks out.

20170114223142_1.jpg

Aeternalis is incapable of violence, so she can only curl up as Alkeides pummels her with his Fists of Fury. The other colonists are afraid to intervene. When Alkeides is done, his fists are covered in blood and Aeternalis is not breathing. The other colonists look at each other in shock realizing that their only doctor has just died. Alkeides walks indoors and casually eats a meal and attempts to start a conversation but the other colonists can only nervously laugh.

PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Day 19:

In the morning, Tuluse takes what's left of aeternalis and buries her.

In the distance, the colonists can see smoking coming from the flaming wreckage of a fallen escape pod. Inside the pod is a man named Mcfly Whitney. He is the father of Tuluse. Heavily wounded, it will take many med kits and days of recuperation for him to move around again.

20170114224812_1.jpg

Night Goat is sent to investigate, and takes a look at McFly's stats...

20170114224835_1.jpg

Mcfly is a psychopathic conceptual artist. Goat immediately turns around, walks home and reports that Tuluse's father has sadly died from his wounds. Somewhere in the distance, his corpse has begun to rot.

The ground loses it's green color and becomes harder. There are less animals outside the temperatures are dropping. Winter is coming.

Day 20:

Somewhere in the galaxy, an absolutely despicable act was performed, sending shockwaves across the galaxy making every force-sensitive male wince in pain. It could be the instantaneous deaths of a billion people, or an early access game releasing DLC, nobody knows.

20170114225924_1.jpg

Day 21:

Another day, another raid. The colonists take up their defensive positions behind sandbags and Alkeides hides behind a rock, knife out.

20170114230811_1.jpg

Raiders emerge from the trees and slog their way towards the sandbags. They are greeted with a barrage of bullets. A bow armed raider takes cover behind a rock. Alkeides cuts the raider into pieces. The rest flee in terror. Max was hit by a stray arrow but will live.

20170114231020_1.jpg

Day 24:

Tuluse, still devastated over the death of her father, starts to gobble all the wake-up pills that the colonists had bought from the caravan. High on stimulants, she wanders the hallway aimlessly with a pistol out, occasionally stopping to cook food (very fast!) or take more wake-up.

20170114232911_1.jpg

After the 3rd dose of wake-up, Tuluse is overdosing. She vomits all over the kitchen but refuses to be put to bed. To make a bad situation better, Tuluse was ordered to expand the mine, which she happily did (also very fast). After 16 hours, she collapses and takes a nap on the floor.

20170114233035_1.jpg

Meanwhile, a solar flare temporarily disables all the electrical devices in the base, plunging the colony back into darkness.

Day 25:

Tuluse recovers surprisingly quickly from the overdose (perhaps saved by her drug tolerance). That morning, another damn raid starts, this time from the west. The west bog is larger than the east bog, so it's easier to defend.

20170114234029_1.jpg

A raider gets dangerously close to the sandbags. The colonists realize he's holding a hand grenade and spread out and focus fire. The raider throws the grenade but misses, and is shot trying to climb over the sandbags. A close call.

20170114234111_1.jpg

Later that evening, after disposing of the bodies (feeding them to Max), Night Goat decides to hold a party. After all the death and pain the colonists have went through, a party will help keep everyone sane.

20170114234642_1.jpg

Although there's no more beer left (all drunk by Tuluse), the colonists enjoy a chat while eating and playing chess. Everyone goes to bed happy.

20170114234701_1.jpg

Day 25:

A brutal cold snap hits. In a matter of hours, the ground is covered in frost and the bogs have iced over. The colonists stay indoors and huddle around the electric heater to keep warm. Winter is here.

Day 26:

Accept is awoken by the sound of screaming in the distance. A barefoot and naked man (outdoors temperature is -29 degrees) is running towards them. Great! Another non-useless party member.

20170114235822_1.jpg

Behind him are 8 heavily armed raiders. These are not ordinary tribals. They have ranged weapons, and one of them is carrying an incendiary grenade launcher, long range, and capable of easily busting down walls. For the first time, the colonists are truly outnumbered and outgunned.

20170114235853_1.jpg

Day 26 continued:

RK limps his way to the door. A throwing spear is lodged in his stomach and he is in immense pain. The raiders shoot at him with guns and arrows but he miraculously manages to make it through the door.

20170115000152_1.jpg

As the tribals attempt to break down the door, some of them destroy the solar panel. The battery indoors has approximately 5 hours of energy stored.

The door breaks down.

Max blocks the raiders with his own body, biting at their knees, giving the colonists time to take up firing positions. The raider bludgeons Max with a club and forces his way in.

20170115000312_1.jpg

Goat and Accept shoot at the raiders, killing two but the rest rush through. Goat takes a nice headshot on the raider with the grenade launcher and Accept and Goat retreat further in. Two Raiders begin banging the door where RK is being held. They really want that guy. Tuluse is quaking in fear but ready to defend RK.

20170115000457_1.jpg

Attempting to stop them from bashing the door open, Accept and Night Goat shoot at them from the dining room, but are both hit by arrows and are forced to reatreat into the kitchen. Alkeides is enraged and begins to slaughter the raiders, who are trapped in the narrow hallways with no room to escape. The last few raiders attempt to flee but are cut down.

20170115000537_1.jpg

Almost everyone is critically injured except for Tuluse. Tuluse crudely patches up Accept, who has the highest medicine skill. Accept rushes back and forth between the stockpile and the medical rooms, trying to stop the bleeding as quickly as possible despite being injured himself. Night Goat recovers enough to start moving again and helps Accept haul the medicine in. Night Goat notices a raider crawling on the ground trying to escape. The raider has no legs.

20170115000819_1.jpg

The raider is "euthanized".

20170115000829_1.jpg

Three of the five colonists are still slowly dying despite the medical treatment. RK has suffered a grievous wound to the stomach and may not survive the night. Night Goat and Tuluse juggle tasks, taking turns applying med kits and feeding the incapacitated colonists. The hallway is littered with disfigured corpses and blood is everywhere. With no time to clean, the two medics leave tracks of blood wherever they go. It's going to be a long night.

Day 27:
Thanks to the medical skill of Accept, everyone is stabilized. Most of the day is spent mopping up blood, hauling out (what's left of) the corpses and digging graves.

20170115002724_1.jpg

When operating on RK, Accept discovered that RKs stomach had burst. Although RK will survive this, from now on it will take him ten times longer than normal to eat anything because the food goes straight into his intestine. For the rest of his life, RK will spend half his day eating very slowly.

Despite taking enormous amounts of damage, Max is still alive. His tail was cut off, and his speed is permanently decreased, but at least he's alive. Night Goat feeds Max a Fine Meal as a reward for her efforts.

20170115193613_1.jpg

20170115193815_1.jpg

In the evening, Tuluse takes a moment to visit the grave of aeternalis. Perhaps she was lucky to have died early...

Since I haven't made one yet, here's RK47's stats
RK, male

Childhood
Cult child: RK was born into a powerful cult which shunned advanced technology and believed that all illness could be cured by cleansing the soul through sacred art. After his first glimpse of the outside world, he decided to run away. -3 Medicine +5 Artistic

Adulthood
Message carrier: On a medieval world, the fastest way to send a message is to give it to somebody on a horse and hope they survive the journey. RK was that somebody. Melee +3 Animals +4

Traits
Annoying Voice: RK's voice has a particuarily grating, nasal quality to it, and he tends to talk in barked, garbled phrases. This predisposes others to dislike him.
Jogger: RK always moves with a sense of urgency - so much that others often fail to keep up
Trigger Happy: Pew! Pew! Pew! RK is a terrible shot, but he doesn't care because guns are awesome! -2 Shooting

Skills
RK is a master of animal training and quite a good artist. His other stats are unremarkable aside from his abysmal shooting stat. He can do any task aside from research. He is also totally socially inept.

Day 27 continued:

RK makes a surprisingly quick recovery and is mostly functional. He is still upset over his broken stomach.

20170115013101_1.jpg

It's dark because the solar panel was destroyed again. Inside, the temperature is a frosty 3 degrees.

Day 30:

After 2 more days of prep time, the colonists begin to expand the living quarters to accommodate for new people. When mining, Alkeides and RK get in a fistfight. Alkeides hates RK because he has an annoying voice and is lazy. The final straw was RK insulting Alkeides. This time, the fight is broken up before anyone gets killed. Alkeides goes to bed with a bruised ego while RK goes to bed with a bruised face and cracked ribs.

20170115014755_1.jpg

Day 31:

The next day, early in the morning, the raid alarm goes off. Six raiders (they're stacked on top of eachother in the image) approach the base. Two have rifles, two have submachine guns, one has fragmentation grenades and one has a incendiary grenade launcher. They are all wearing metal body armor. The colonists have 2 rifles, 2 pistols and a knife. The boss of the pirate gang (Lilith) has personally come to destroy the Codex.

Day 31 continued:

By the time they reach the base, it's morning and the bog has temporarily thawed out. Despite the gear and number advantage, they are slowed down by the bog and picked off by Night Goat. Accept's shooting has improved somewhat from experience and actually hitting targets now. The pirates force their way through the narrow bog corridor and throw a grenade into the outside bunker, injuring Tuluse and Accept.

20170115015954_1.jpg

Night Goat uses his rifle to make an excellent headshot on the enemy leader and Lilith goes down. The death of their leader causes the pirates to flee. As far as raids go, this one was pretty easy, but only because Goat is incredibly skilled with long range weaponry. The Codex colonists are happy that they killed the pirate leader, but they know the pirates will be back for revenge.

20170115020027_1.jpg

Although Lilith was incapacitated by Night Goats rifle, it was actually Accept that finished her off. Since Accept just killed a big boss, he receives a small relations boost from everyone. That night, a trader stops by, walking across the bog of corpses to sell various knick-knacks. All the clothing that was stripped from the corpses is sold for quick cash, and most of it is used to buy medicine, warm clothes and a sniper rifle for Night Goat. The new rifle will increase his damage from 18 to 40 allowing him to one-shot any unarmored human with a bodyshot.

20170115020851_1.jpg

Day 34:

After a day of stockpiling berries, a disturbing message arrives. Unlike most games, wargs are extremely dangerous creatures in Rimworld. They shrug off bullets, outrun you and then maim you to slow you down. The easiest way to deal with this problem is to simply not go outside.

20170115023106_1.jpg

Just hours later, a trading caravan drops by to trade. Little do they know that there are 7-9 bloodthristy wargs on our doorstep.

20170115023541_1.jpg

The traders are too lightly armed and can't kill the wargs fast enough. The wargs rip through the traders with ease. The ones that survived the warg attack died of blood loss hours later. When the wargs left, the colonists went out and looted the traders. Lucky!

20170115024253_1.jpg

This trader ran across the map but was chased down and eaten alive.

20170115024319_1.jpg

This sudden injection in supplies and cash is just what the colony needed to get through the 11 days of winter left. That night, Tuluse and Night Goat get into an argument which escalates into a fistfight. These confrontations will only get worse the longer the colonists are holed up inside.

Both fighters are injured in the confrontation, and the last of the med-kits are used to treat the wounds.

Day 36:

A castaway named Papa Môlé calls for help nearby. He is being chased by pirates. The colonists must choose between an extra hand or more supplies. In the end, they decided to save Papa Mole.

The pirates are too fast and walk over the bog before the colonists can get into position. From the second bunker, Accept and RK lay down covering fire while Night Goat picks off the pirates. This time, they hide behind the rock stockpile and lob grenades at the bunker. The bunker is too small, Tuluse can't escape in time. The grenade blows off Tuluse's left leg. Papa Mole drags him back into the base. The pirates try to shoot Papa Mole with their automatic rifles but RK gets a lucky headshot.

Alkeides attempts to flank to distract the pirates from Papa Mole and Tuluse, but is shot in the head. Bleeding and near death, he manages to kill the pirate behind the stockpile before being shot six more times.

20170115031305_1.jpg

Night Goat and Accept pick off more pirates and the rest flee. There is blood everywhere. Everyone is shaken.

20170115031522_1.jpg

Meanwhile in the med room (by now, every room is called the med room), Tuluse loses conciousness and has to be healed immediately. Accept does a reasonable job stopping the bleeding, but the leg is gone forever.

Day 37:

The day is spent alternating between dragging corpses and tending to Tuluse. Night Goat and Accept build a stone mausoleum in honor of one of the original three.

"Didn't think it would end this way. He was so tough." - Night Goat
"He was a bully but he was really good at mining and killing people." - Accept
"Fuck that guy lah" - RK

Day 38:

Night Goat installs a peg leg for Tuluse. Now he can walk again, but not very quickly.

20170115033348_1.jpg

There's not much to do besides eat and wait for the next attack.

20170115033630_1.jpg

Day 39:

Another attack at noon, this time from tribals. The tribals were shredded by automatic rifle and sniper rifle fire. The tribals dropped 3 beers and 5 packs of space-cocaine.

20170115034108_1.jpg

Day 41:
Pirates. From the east this time. They're all decked in high quality gear.

20170115035155_1.jpg

It was at this moment when Papa Mole finally snapped. Running out into the cold, stuffing his nose into all the bags of space-cocaine they had looted. Leaving the base during a raid unarmed and high was a mistake. Papa tries to get through the door but is dragged back out.

20170115035418_1.jpg

The pirates use incendiary grenades to light defenseless Papa Mole on fire. Papa Mole makes a futile effort to extinguish the flames by rolling in the snow but the pirates just relight him every time. Bastards.

20170115035513_1.jpg

He finally stops moving.

20170115035534_1.jpg

The incendiary grenade launcher bursts down the door and burns Accept heavily.

20170115035538_1.jpg

Like last time, the colonists take up defensive positions and focus fire on anyone trying to come in.

20170115035554_1.jpg

The strategy works, and the pirates begin to flee. To the east, trapped pirates were attempting to escape by breaking the heavy steel door. They were quickly cleaned up by RK.

20170115035803_1.jpg

Hearing footsteps outside, The colonists are surprised to find Papa Mole bleeding out a few meters away from where he had been burnt. Almost every body part was burnt, and he was blind.

20170115035836_1.jpg

Because of all the space-cocaine that Papa Mole had snorted, he was still conscious despite being in great pain. Accept dragged him back inside and prepared to treat him, but realizes that Papa Mole is too far gone to be saved.

20170115035945_1.jpg

Tuluse tends to Papa Mole.
"You'll feel better after this."
Tuluse injects the syringe into Papa Mole to end the suffering.

There are only two meals left. The injured, tired and hungry colonists are desperate. For the first time, they consider eating the corpses.

20170115040105_1.jpg

The fire started by the pirates had not been extinguished yet. The storehouse has burnt down.

20170115040113_1.jpg

Accept finds a pirate still breathing and kicks him to death, preferring not to use the gun.

20170115040201_1.jpg

20170115040301_1.jpg

In the evening, they find the time to bury Papa Mole.

20170115040452_1.jpg

Day 43:

This is the moment where things begin to truly fall apart. Only halfway into the winter, The colonists are beginning to lose hope. They are desperate and are willing to sacrifice anything for the next meal.

Completely out of food, and unwilling to eat human flesh, the colonists forage for berries. They are so hungry they eat the berries right off the leaf instead of hauling it home to make food with. Goat gets food poisoning from the wild berries.

Not much can be said about the following days, as nobody had the energy to do anything noteworthy.

20170115040548_1.jpg

Day 44:

Resources stretched to their limit, the colonists sans Night Goat agree to eat Max. Max was a loyal and courageous dog, but he also had a voracious appetite.

20170115040641_1.jpg

Tuluse butchers and cooks the dog, then serves it to Night Goat for breakfast. Night Goat is pleased that he had his first real meal in 10 days. He does not ask where the meat came from.

20170115040721_1.jpg

Day 45:

RK visits the grave of Papa Mole. They were friends. Tuluse goes out to scavenge for more berries. Despite the food poisoning, it was the only thing that is edible.

20170115041754_1.jpg

Day 46:

The base that had once been their home feels more like a mausoleum, just like the one Alkeides was buried in. There is nothing to do but wait for the snow to thaw.

Day 46 Continued:

20170115042025_1.jpg

In the afternoon, traders came by. They were primitives, but decently armed. There were only four. They sold cheap food called pemmican. Everything of value that the colonists owned besides their guns was burnt down, so the colonists could afford only a days worth of food and medicine.

20170115042134_1.jpg

As the traders are invited into the dining room, one of them begins to eat. Without having to say anything, the four remaining colonists know what they need to do.

20170115042241_1.jpg

Tuluse misses his first shot, and the traders are alarmed and draw their weapons. They attempt to escape the dining room.

20170115042241_1.jpg

The leader of the traders holes up in a room as Accept and Night Goat open fire. Armed with simple clubs and bows and with no cover, the trade is easily murdered.

20170115042324_1.jpg

The two survivors try to bash their way through the steel door but it's not happening.

20170115042436_1.jpg

After stripping down the corpses of the trader and feasting on the food and pocketing the silver they paid, the four remaining colonists sit down to discuss what has to be done next. From now on they were criminals, and the traders tribe will hunt them until they day they die. It is unanimously decided that abandoning the base for a warmer climate and fresh start would be the only solution.

Day 47:

Taking what little they had, the colonists slogged their way across the bog and looked back at their base for the last time.

20170115043111_1.jpg

The party heads north, towards the temperate climates but stops and decides to attack the tribals instead. Considering how easy it was to dispatch four of them with modern weaponry, they could take out around ten at the most without getting hurt. This way, they get a free base to stay in, and a vast stockpile of food. Turning around, the colonists head south again towards the village.

20170115043302_1.jpg

Day 52:

After five days, they arrive to their destination. At the edge of the encampment, behind some rocks, Tuluse, RK, Accept and Goat plan their attack plan.

Accept sees it first. Five... ten... twenty... twenty tribals rushing towards them.

20170115043435_1.jpg

The colonists open fire. Without armor, many of the tribals die instantly. Others are wounded and keep running. When the gap is closed, the colonists get into a messy brawl. Beaten with clubs and firing point blank into the savage hordes, the colonists mount a desperate last stand here. RK is the first to fall, overwhelmed by the mass of the enemy. Goat keeps firing, hoping to kill someone important to make them lose their morale. Tuluse is struggling against a tribal with a club.

20170115043540_1.jpg

Accept starts to aim his gun but realizes that fighting was futile. He retreats, leaving Tuluse, Goat and RK to their deaths, knowing that the tribals would not chase after him.

20170115043556_1.jpg

After running a safe distance away, Accept sets up camp. Spring is here, and the caribou are back for hunting. If Accept can make it further north, he can have a fresh start, away from the butchery that was Colony Codex. He scans the horizon, looking for animals to shoot.

20170115043738_1.jpg

He spots a boar approaching. This is no ordinary boar though, it's a manhunting boar. It will not stop until it has sated it's appetite for human flesh.

20170115043806_1.jpg

Accept fires at the boar as fast as he can. The first shot is a miss.

20170115043809_1.jpg

He misses again, the boar is getting too close.

20170115043809_2.jpg

His last shot misses, and the boar mauls Accept

20170115043814_1.jpg

20170115044051_1.jpg

The boar shreds Accept's knee, crippling him. This is it. In his final moments, Accept wonders if he would have lived if he didn't run away from his friends, if he didn't attack the village, if he didn't leave the base in the first place.

He will never know,

because this is an ironman save.

lol, what a mess. Papa Môlé's death as a drug-addled fireball was worthy of song. :salute:

Entertaining stuff.

Actually, just reading your chat in the shoutbox before was enough to make me finally buy the game. It's like a more accessible dwarf fortress from before it got ruined by going 3D (which was just a little too complex for me to be enjoyable when it's still in ascii graphics).

Do you even graphic tilesets, bro?
Yes, but they suck and are still basically ascii.

Until they are good tilesets - at least equivalent to Rimworld - I don't even want to mess with it.

Although, I do have fond memories of modding the game for my own enjoyment. Once I made tentacle monsters that could literally rape dragons in the eye. Fun times. :M

Wtf is wrong with you lah? Those stats are fucking awesome

Very, very entertaining. Thanks, Mr. Pink. Was not surprised by your cold bloodiness in betraying traders, killing undesirables and eating dogs.

Still not sure why you went to such a cold place to begin with.
