I finally got Fantasy General to work with xp and damn if this isnt a shitload of fun to play!

I used vdmsound and mousectl.com to run it. Unfortunalty the incredible soundtrack wont play, but you can download the .wav files and run them while youre playing. If youre looking for a great fantasy wargame you might want to give this a go.

The state of insanity.
While I admit that Fantasy General is lots of fun to play, it just doesn't have the appeal it used to with me anymore. Guess I got spoiled by Empires Under The Sun and ilk.

I'm on a bit of a retro tip at the moment, and if you enjoy Fantasy General, I'd recommend CaveWars - fantasy turn-based strategy with a z-axis that can have up to five levels. Not bad for free

Thanks for the cave spider recommendation. The mouse is very slow so i tried using mousectl but it causes a crash. Do you have a workaround for this problem?

I use dosbox, with the D-Fend front end, and don't seem to get any problems. Try tapping them into Google and giving it a go
