Bros of my bros, how I need your aid. I need some recommendations for songs to sing and play on guitar for a girl.

I've been seeing her for more than a year and a half, and our relationship was viciously consummated on our very first date, so I don't need songs specific to wooing or seduction, although such songs work too. Just heartfelt stuff, maybe even love songs. A list of musicians she doesn't hate who are in my vocal range include: tom petty, bruce springsteen, bob dylan. Any ideas for songs by those or other artists to help show my sensitive side?

I've googled this topic, and received only reminders that everyone's a fucking idiot. She's very bright and would not like overly crappy stuff. This is why I've come hat in hand to the most distinguished site I know.

Thanks, codex. Also my guitar skills are weak or maybe passable. No flamenco please.

This whole affair seems rather faggy, but I guess I'll recommend Dylan's Song to Woody.

I wish pop music was like this. There are tabs around with easier arrangements of this song.

"Stand by me" Weird, but there's probably not a single girl who hadn't some romantic thoughts at least one time in her life while hearing this song. But the mood has to be right and not shouting like an idiot. Just start playing softly the melody when you feel like it and look at her reaction and then go from there.

These might not be at all the mood you're looking for, but here goes.

I don't know if it would work without the harmonies, and I have no ear for assessing how difficult it is... and maybe you'll need to transpose it, but what about "God Only Knows by the Beach Boys"?

Works perfectly as you can replace Maria with her name easily.

If that's too difficult for your guitar skills, try this - it's quite easy to play on guitar while you're singing:

Not particualrly romantic but acoustic versions can sound amazing and are piss easy to sing.

    Try unplugged. M:

What'll you do when you get lonely
And nobody's waiting by your side?
You've been running and hiding much too long.
You know it's just your foolish pride.

    [Chorus:]
Layla, you've got me on my knees.
    Layla, I'm begging, darling please.
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind.

I tried to give you consolation
When your old man had let you down.
Like a fool, I fell in love with you,
Turned my whole world upside down.

    [Chorus]

Let's make the best of the situation
    Before I finally go insane.
Please don't say we'll never find a way
And tell me all my love's in vain.

    [Chorus: x2]

Thanks bros :salute:, those are some really great ideas. And also some terrible ones. I'm going to need plenty of songs so please keep them coming if any more come to mind.

I was always with you in spirit. Sadly settling down isn't so likely with this one. She's too young for me. And too married. And too suicidal. And I guess technically she's an addict.

But I'm just fucking crazy in love with her. Life of shit; life of shit never changes.

Don't worry, I haven't gone all monogamous or anything.

4+20 by Crosby Stills Nash and Young (more a Steven Stills song but it is on a CSNY album.
Find The Cost of Freedom by CSN
    Suzanne by Leonard Cohen

Wow, this could be a long list. There are a lot of easy yet heart rending songs out there. Sort of depends on what mood you are in or want to create I guess.
