is hyperdimension neptunia even good?

all of these moe-styled anime jrpgs seem to look and play exactly the same with only minor differences.

I've only played Nep 1 & 2 and the gameplay is definitely not what I'd call good. They were just moe games. Apparently the later games have decent gameplay but you're still probably better off buying these games just for the girls as that's the main draw.

Pathfinder: Wrath
The nep2 series are moe waifu games. Very grindy too iirc compared to most modern jrpgs barring MS Excel simulators "drpgs"

The next game in the Atelier series will be a character best-of with town building and the protagonist isn't an alchemist:

Nelke & the Legendary Alchemists: Atelier of a New Land

Players take on the role of Nelke, the newly appointed director of Vestbalt. Dreaming of the still unseen Grantzvite Tree, Nelke will revitalize the village’s naturally abundant land and work together with legendary alchemists to develop it significantly.

Let It Die Coming To PC
Not just for PS4 anymore.

GameSpot can reveal that Grasshopper Manufacture and GungHo Online Entertainment are bringing their free-to-play hack-and-slash RPG, Let It Die, to PC. Originally an exclusive for the PlayStation 4, the PC version of the game will launch via Steam this fall.

Let It Die puts you in the role of a poor soul who--while under the guidance of a skateboarding grim reaper named Uncle Death--is tasked with climbing a tower filled with enemies and traps. Initially your character is just running around in their underwear, so it's paramount you find more powerful pieces of armor or weaponry to increase your chance of survival. You'll have to manage your character's bodily needs as well, scavenging for food to replenish health.

Let It Die's defining mechanic is "death data." If your character dies, you lose everything and are sent back to square one. However, your previous character and every item and weapon that was on them at the time of death is saved to Let It Die's servers and circulated throughout other player's games. Other players can then encounter the spectral remains of your previous character as a powerful enemy. Likewise, in your game, you can run into the ghosts of the characters of other players.

Let It Die has proven popular in recent years, reaching two million player downloads in February 2017 and four million in April 2018. We imagine that number is only going to go up with the game's release on PC.

Both Grasshopper and GungHo continue to support Let It Die, updating the game and patching bugs. Grasshopper is also currently working on Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes while GungHo is developing Ninjala. Both titles are scheduled to launch for Nintendo Switch, the former in 2018 and the latter--which we covered as one of the 21 stellar games you probably missed out on from E3--in 2019.

The next JRPG release from Ghostlight is a Switch port: http://blog.ghostlight.uk.com/post/ghostlight-are-now-bringing-japanese-games-to-nintendo-switch

Hi everyone!

Following on from the recent Steam & GOG release of Mary Skelter: Nightmares we have some more exciting news for you all. All the paperwork has gone through and I can tell you that we are now official Switch developers, and so are able to bring fantastic Japanese games to Nintendo Switch, as well as to PC! In fact, we’ve already started work on our first port, a JRPG, that I’m not able to reveal just yet.

While we love bringing games to PC, working on the Switch has been an awful lot of fun. It’s been a long time since I’ve worked on anything for console, the most recent game was Flame Over, and the most recent one for Ghostlight was Elminage Gothic, back in 2013, so it’s great to be back on console!

I hope you’re all looking forward to our Nintendo Switch releases as much as we are, and please stay tuned for more information on which JRPG we’re going to be bringing to Switch in the near future.

That’s all for now, I’ll be back soon but until then why not follow us on our Twitter and Facebook pages, our Youtube Channel and our   Instagram account, where we’ll be posting all the latest news from Ghostlight You can also follow me on Twitter for a more personal take on all things Ghostlight.

will those be the *only* hd remasters of grandia 1 and 2?

or are they porting the PC ports of those games over to the switch and using "clever branding"?

I have grandia 1 and 2 on my backlog but i want my first play to be the most HD possible, and I ain't buying a switch.

Grandia 2 HD remaster has been on GoG (and I assume Steam) for years - I don't think it will be a different version on the Switch.

Ah, looks like only Grandia 2 has a PC port, and yeah it's on Steam.

So Grandia 1 will actually be a new remaster, then, that's interesting. OR IS IT!?!?!??!

Langrisser 1 (or Warsong by which title it was published in the US) was an okayish game when I played it on MegaDrive/Genesis as a kid, and not all that hard, at least until you get to 5 mission or so. it was but a simple tactical jrpg as I remember, not even remotely close to Tactics Ogre or FFT goodness. It was linear, and the progress was made by completing missions the order of completing which was fixed, in each of the missions you had a specific goal with only one way of achieving it, and you were given a collection of units of different types, including main hero and his companions, which you were moving around the map battling with the enemy's units and seeking the mission's goal to be fulfilled. New character designs, optimized UI etc are good, but gameplay-wise game is going to be basic and outdated, and I'm not sure how it'd play now if they don't introduce changes to it. Don't know how was the 2nd part though, as I didn't play it.

Losing the key classic artist to the original series though is...not a great omen. It'll all come down to the gameplay overhauls and new content---especially given what happened to that last "Langrisser" game.

Yeah some of the old fans might be clinging to that original character art style and design in particular... But for me, it's not a big deal, and it's not a remaster but a full remake, so it's normal that some things may be revised or changed entirely. Hope it won't turn out cartoonish soft core porn with child-faced characters at least, like in some modern anime games.

As for the gameplay, I'm really curious what changes they could apply to make it more interesting to play today, epsecially if they're not going to introduce something vastly different. The old system would be more than sufficient for some GBA or mobile phones but not modern gaming platforms like PS4 or Switch (or PC..... :negative:)
