The Alliance Alive is for 3DS, though. I've been hoping for a localization.

Yep. I played The Legend of Legacy, but couldn't finish it because of the dull repetition rather than a good sense of difficulty. But it wasn't bad by any means. SaGa games always have a fun, if seemingly obtuse sense of character progression.

We learned today that Atlus is bringing FuRyu’s old-school RPG with modern aesthetics in The Alliance Alive to the 3DS. Here’s a new story trailer and details that were shared for the West.

One thousand years ago, Daemons invaded the world of Humans. They subjugated Humanity and created the Great Barrier to separate the realms. The world was thrown into upheaval, and the Dark Current was born. It carved a cross-shaped swath across the ocean, swallowing countless cities in its wake. Humanity was decimated. Hundreds of years later, Daemons rule atop a hierarchical society. However, the time for resistance has come. The world is about to change yet again…

The Alliance Alive released in Japan earlier this year as a nostalgic RPG with a modern touch. The game offers a massive world to explore and a story featuring nine protagonists to go with a familiar turn-based battle system. Players will establish and unite guilds throughout the four realms while battling Daemons. The “Ignition” system allows for deep customization and nuanced gameplay for combat, and it comes with some sweet Final Strikes to finish off enemies.

The game’s story is written by Yoshitaka Murayama, directed by Masataka Matsuura, designed by Kyoji Koizumi, and features music composed by Masashi Hamazu.

The Alliance Alive releases in early 2018 in the West for Nintendo 3DS. It’ll be available for $39.99/€39.99/£29.99 and pre-orders are now live.

Sometimes hope does pay off.

I watched a youtube review of the Japanese version. Supposedly it's an improvement of sorts, though markedly different in tone from Legacy, if story was the main draw for you.

Legend of Legacy was all about "muh lore". Nice that Alliance Alive is going for a more story-centric route. As long as they don't have gameplay that's as tedious as the elemental system in LoL then I'll be fine.

Grimrock-like dungeon crawler... from Japanese company... based on Japanese myth... for PC only?

HYAKKI-CASTLE_6.jpg

HYAKKI-CASTLE_2.jpg

http://gematsu.com/2017/09/ancient-...med-3d-dungeon-rpg-hyakki-castle-announced-pc

Japanese publisher Happinet and developer Asakusa Studios have announced Hyakki Castle, a stylized 3D dungeon RPG coming to PC via Steam this winter.

Hyakki Castle is set in a haunted castle, where players will confront and battle creatures from ancient Japanese literature and be treated to Ukiyo-e style graphics and ghost lore inspired by famous ancient Japaanese scrolls and artists.

Here’s an overview of the game, via Happinet:

About

Hyakki Castle is a real-time RPG in which players will explore a sinister fictional castle set in the 18th century – during the Edo Period, an infamous period in Japanese history known for economic growth, social order, foreign policies, healthy population and heightened enjoyment of arts and culture. The game’s giant castle is situated on Hyakki Island, where skilled criminals were exiled, but also rumored to be on the island were ghosts and demons. Borrowing from these ghost stories, Hyakki Castle creates an eerie and mysterious environment where the evil supernatural have been summoned by a shadowy figure and it’s up to the player to strategically make their way through the dark rooms and areas.

Players can choose to split their party up into a 2 party system, a feature not yet seen in real-time dungeon RPGs, allowing a player to select four characters and make one party with them, creating new strategic gameplay possibilities. For instance, one character can lure a monster while the other three lay in wait for an ambush—or the party can split to flank a monster or to solve a puzzle. Players can play as traditional Japanese classes such as Samurai, Ninja or Monk while also choosing from different races, such as Oni, Tengu or Nekomata, with each having their own special abilities.

The giant castle is mysterious and dark, and full of smart traps and dangerous boss monsters, as well as spooky ghosts and ghouls taken from ancient Japanese literature, creating a unique experience for roleplaying fans as they enter the eerie “Fantastical World” of ancient Japan. A slew of creepy monsters, such as the supernatural “Yokai” of ancient Japanese literature, await players inside the castle. Be warned!

Key Features
  • Real-time RPG Action: Become a Samurai or a Ninja, create a party, and venture forth to do battle, solve puzzles, defeat bosses, and explore a mysterious castle to defeat its Lord!
  • Unique Japanese Heritage: Instead of generic fantasy creatures, clash with vivid monsters and supernatural creatures from Japanese literature.
  • Twice the Possibilities: Split your party of up to four players for unparalleled strategy and party options.
  • Explore a Monstrous Castle: The enormous castle is filled with cunning traps—some of which can only be solved by dividing your party—and tough boss monsters, testing player instincts and judgement.
  • Explore Japanese Character Classes and Races: Choose to play as a Samurai, Ninja or Monk with three distinct races on tap to add diverse skillsets to your party.
  • Unique Soundtrack: The game features traditional Japanese music and ambient sound creating an environment of mystery, suspense and fear to the gameplay experience.

And you can splitting your party?

What an oddball is this.

Gust's school girl gazing RPG Blue Reflection is coming to West for PC and PS4 on September 26th (NA) / 29th(EU): http://gematsu.com/2017/06/blue-ref...eptember-26-north-america-september-29-europe

A clear summer sky spreads over the Hoshinomiya Girls' High School.
This story begins with the belated start of school life for Hinako Shirai, who has just recovered from a leg injury due to a tragic accident.

The magical sisters Yuzu and Lime bestowed to her a special power to become a "Reflector".
Hinako transforms into the magical Reflector form and protects the world from devastating forces for the sake of the world, and her own dream that she thought she had to give up on.

[1] The Ordinary: School Life
During your school life, you will not only advance the story but also deepen your friendships with other students after lessons have ended and take on a variety of missions.

[2] The Extraordinary: The Common
In the Common, you will mainly search for items and fight battles in order to complete the missions you have accepted whilst at school or to resolve other student's problems.

[3] The Extraordinary: Battles with Sephira
Repeating the cycle of school life and visits to the Common will advance the main story, eventually causing a "Sephira" to appear in the real world. Sephira appear at various points during the story, and Hinako stands up to fight them in order to both realize her own personal wish and to save the world.

The Dragon's Crown remake seems pretty disappointing. It doesn't look to be getting the care and love that the Odin Sphere remake got, which DC desperately needs.

Calling it a remake is a bit of an insult. It's more or less a straight port. Still no release on PC is just stupid.

To a Japanese programmer pc is like this colossal nightmare they avoid like the plague.
Hell the moment they realize that there is more then one versions of api they shut down.
Not to mention some of them still think you ask the "pc owner " company for devkits.
Ironically they are not bad programmers but just stubborn and refuse to learn or adopt to new things.

I think it's already said in this thread or somewhere else, in Japan, PC gamers are considered as either porn gamers or MMO players. It's not common that normal Japanese person having a personal computer in home, let alone gaming computer.

Thanks to Steam and PlayerUnkown's Battlegrounds (yes, it's getting popular in Japan despite being only on PC. It even got an homage in a recent TV anime) Japanese Steam players are growing and more Japanese games are coming to Steam, but looks like it's still not enough.

Pink RPG:

Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings is coming out for the Nintendo Switch, PS4 & PC Steam. The game is slated to release in Early 2018! This latest entry to GUST’s popular Atelier franchise continues from Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book and Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey, concluding the Mysterious series with an all-new heart-warming narrative.

The gripping conclusion to the Mysterious series marks the 20th Anniversary for the Atelier franchise, following the tale of the alchemist twins - the reserved but caring Lydie Marlen, and the eccentric and carefree Suelle Marlen. The young twins work alongside their father at the family atelier, but due to his inexperience in alchemy they rarely see any customers. While working hard to hone their skills, the duo uncovers a mysterious-looking painting, and as they reach out to investigate the girls are drawn inside a world bountiful with rare materials… perfect for Alchemy! This fateful discovery is just the beginning of the twin’s adventure leading them to their joint goal… to run the best atelier in the country.[/quote[

I haven't even started the current gen "Mysterious" series and am still stuck in the PS3 era.

Sophie was kinda boring but Firis is really good. Maybe skip Sophie. It's more of a babby's first Atelier game that doesn't have any interesting mechanics or hooks going on for it.

I have some jrpg news - jrpgs suck and are for children and pedophiles

They appeal directly to you yet you still try to hate them? No need to be so tsundere.

And I thought Koei Tecmo's PC porting is (slowly) improving: http://wccftech.com/blue-reflection-720p-pc-koei-tecmo/

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your inquiry.

We prepare 2D images basically on the resolution of 1280*720 for BLUE REFLECTION Steam version, meanwhile 1920*1080 for PS4 version.
Therefore, if you play in the environment where the resolution is larger than 1280*720, the images are shown as stretched. We hope you will accept this.
We will consider conforming 2D images to a larger resolution, but cannot promise. We trust that you will understand our position in this matter.

"We hope you will accept this."
"We hope you will accept this."
"We hope you will accept this."

But why lmao. Why choose the lower res at all for PC. I honestly can't guess the thought process behind that.
