Only heard about that game today. Is that supposed to how a Sniper really operates? PC demo should come out pretty soon....but darn, such a nice concept, botched with stupid AI, dull level design and retarded gameplay.

Anybody played Sniper Elite 1? It's currently EUR 1,75 on Steam.

That AI seems almost tailor made retarded to let the kiddie crowd enjoy their megalomaniac sniper fantasies. Then again, what else to expect from someone called sniper ELITE?

To be fair those console peons probably aren't playing in the highest difficulty level. Which was the only way to play the first one.

What the fuck, Morgoth? Feel free to pop moles all you want, but at least keep it to yourself, or discuss the finer points of chest-high walls and braindead AI on forums where it will be more appreciated. Why must you keep polluting our prestigious forums with shit like this? :obviously:

Gotta say though the Asura engine does produce some really good imagery. The PC demo should come out this week, but yeah, looking at that footage and Rebellions track record, this is probably just popamole. False alarm I guess.

First one was pretty decent but no co-op on PC version, apparently Xbox or Playstation version had some split screen shit.

Yeah but it hasn't really aged well. I'd just skip it at this point and wait for the v2.

In after retards claiming this game should be realistic, just because the main protagonist is a sniper.

A real sniper has to adjust the sights depending on the distance of the target. The sniper needs to be able to estimate the distance, wind and such.

When shooting from 50 meters. You are the living proof why games are getting dumber.

In the first game you could pull off shots from several hundred meters away (for which you had to compensate for bullet drop) - most likely you can do the same in v2, too.

Or you know... given what the first game sort of played around with.

Yeah, especially when shooting from 50 meters. If If the sniper has set the sights to lets say 150 meters and he shoots at a guy's head who's stading 50 meters far the bullet is going to go well above his head.

Yes, if you use the same point of reference within the reticle.

Reticles have different points of reference that allow you to shoot at differently distanced targets without having to adjust the scope each time, which would be a royal pain in the ass, impractical, extremely dangerous and unrealistic (unless you have a spotter that feeds you the results of his calculations directly)

This guy did a pretty great job of getting all those different values a long range shooter needs to think about into a 'game' (minus physical manipulation of the weapon of course). It'd be really neat to have a full shooter that incorporated these mechanics along with detailed and varied equipment like different barrel lengths and twists, first focal plane vs. second focal plane optics, bolt guns vs. gas guns, different cartridges and maybe suppressors too.

Start throwing multiple targets at different elevations and ranges at the player, maybe simulate different windage values for different areas and all of the sudden a player's going to need a cheat sheet or a helpful spotter- that'd be a fun game!

Except you can't actually download it, with the servers being "busy" apparently. Fuck steam, I got the pirate release of the demo faster.

Didnt mind the first one, played it with some bros at a LAN. While it was deathmatch, I managed to win games not from killing but from being a thieving bastard who stole the dogtags that dropped when a player died. Most of the game was me running and gunning with the PPSH and MG and being a thieving scumbag point stealer. Good times.

I managed to download the demo from somewhere else, and played a bit with it.

    Pros:
Nice graphics, perfect framerate, nice sound (turn the fucking music off though), fluid controls with 360 pad at least

    Cons:
Well, it's not really a stealth game. Not in the slightest. Played it in the highest difficulty setting, yet the game is too fucking easy. You just pick one Kraut after another, and they just shout and run around like stupid chickens. Way too fucking easy, man.

It's an action game that gives you a Sniper rifle and auto health regen. They could have made something really great out of that concept, but Rebellion gonna Rebellion.

Maybe the demo's not repesentative of the whole thing, but it sure isn't worth the full price. Maybe 10€ after some Steam Holiday, at least for the multiplayer alone.
