Tacticular Cancer: We'll have your balls

And if the Password Recovery doesn't work (there was an error transitioning accounts during the upgrade), use the "contact us" link right down the bottom right of the forums and harass us about it. Include your account name and its e-mail address (or whatever parts of it you remember).

"This message is awaiting moderator approval": All new users must pass through our moderation queue before they will be able to post normally. Until your account has "passed" your posts will only be visible to yourself (and moderators) until they are approved. Give us a week to get around to approving / deleting / ignoring your mundane opinion on crap before hassling us about it. Once you have passed the moderation period (think of it as a test), you will be able to post normally, just like all the other retards.

Brian Ware might be a name that rings a bell to some of you. If you've ever donated to the Codex, you probably would've seen his name appear on the payment - before we changed accounts. One of the reasons we changed accounts earlier this year (to Taluntain's and my own PayPals) was because Brian was suffering from Cancer.

Sadly, Brian lost that fight on July 16 this year. Known as Sir Belisarius on the Sorcerers.net boards, he was a long friend of Taluntain who handled most of the USD payments and transactions for all the donations we'd raised over the years for the Codex.

In memory of him, Sorcerers.net are trying to raise $1,000 for a cancer fund setup in Brian's name:

    1. You can now contribute a sum of your own choosing for Sorcerer's Place to forward to the Cancerbware.org NPO set up in Brian's (Sir Bel's) name.

    2. Donations collected to the SP PayPal account will be forwarded to Cancerbware.org once they are established.

    3. Unless you would prefer your donation to be anonymous, please list your user name in the donation notes so that we know who to thank!

    4. Donate via PayPal here. Having a PayPal account is NOT required to donate - you can use your credit/debit card.

If you would like to send money some other way, please contact Taluntain via a private message.

    Thank you!

They're just $300 short of their target, having raised $703 to date. If you'd like to contribute, please do so. Brian was one of those people behind the scenes that many of you never would have known about, who kept the Codex running in his own small way.

    Fucking cancer :-(
Can't really be put into words - at least not by me - but everyone who lost someone close will know the horrible feeling/emotion that accompanies the death of a loved one. Only thing one can do is to hope that his family and friends will get through the darkest part of the grieving soon. I sincerely do, even though I didn't knew Brian at all. But I do know that feeling.

As someone who could possibly die of cancer himself (me, due to chain smoking) in the future, I support this initiative.

Also, sorry to hear about your loss Taluntain. I hope you donated a golden coffin from your personal funds so that your buddy might RIP in style.

Shouldn't the topic say "against Cancer", rather than "for Cancer" ?

Perhaps this was all planned. He did control their purse strings . . .

I'll probably donate a portion of my debt this September, for some odd sentimental reason: A virtually unknown great aunt went with cancer on New years.
