Crispy™ Question about post release changes in AoD quest flow and removed paths

In the past after you killed Antidas with an IG character and killed the guards escorting you to Maadoran you were also able to kill the noble escort and essentially "leave" the IG. The text something like "Kill him. You are done with the Guards and their game", now it's just a choice between "kill Him and lose some IG rep for jewels" or "let all go according to keikaku". The consequence of that choice is that you are unable to join the boatmen in Maadoran as a zero rep character because before the hamza q you are still counted as part of the guards and afterwards Darrista just tells me to fuck off.

Now my questions are.

Why was this changed?(I understand that some other similar path changes were adjusted because they made you end up with more overall points, was this also the reason here?)

Is a higher rep character able to join the Boatmen after standing aside and letting Strabos be killed?

I've had no idea that they've changed it (haven't played AoD in quite a while). Decline.

It was changed fairly early while the game was still in Early Access. This choice was a dead end, which is why we changed it. In a faction-driven game losing a faction is a big deal and a soldier can't join another faction for two reasons: first, a fighter doesn't have much to offer and the assassins won't take you because of what went down in chapter 1; second, the other factions' quests are set in a different timeline where the Guards failed to take over; crossing into that timeline would have caused many issues.

Yep. When you arrive the MG conspiracy and AG assassinations already took place, and practically the same for TG.

I think we decided that because there was an issue somewhere that allowed you to "time travel", so to avoid any issues we plugged the fix there (and as Vince said, they wouldn't be able to join any faction anyway).
